Description

The invention relates to microwave multiplexed connection filters and therefore comprising a common access to several unit bandpass filters and as many independent accesses as there are unit filters, such a connection filter serving as a demultiplexer when a microwave signal is applied to its common access, the demultiplexed signals then being obtained on the independent accesses which form the outputs of each of the unit filters, and serving on the contrary as a multiplexer when the various microwave signals to be multiplexed are respectively applied to each of these independent accesses relating to each unit filter and that the multiplexed signal output is then obtained on said common access.

Microwave multiplexed connection filters are produced in "comb-line" (comb filter) or in evanescent mode. These filters are tunable in a certain frequency band and have at least one common coaxial access. These are attached or in-line filters, each operating in a different frequency band.

A filter of the known art is described in the article published in IEEE MTT Vol. 21 N ° 1 January 1973 entitled "Design of evanescent mode waveguide diplexers". This article describes a new procedure for making connection filters constructed in waveguides below the cutoff. This realization allows the total construction of a diplexer (the whole device is built in a single waveguide, which allows to do without T-junction and connection flanges) if a coaxial connection is used at the common junction . The embodiment described uses unitary bandpass filters valid for bandwidths of a few percent.

With this type of diplexer, the agreement of the two unit filters is not independent and there is interaction of a unit filter on the other. The filter tuning bands must be very close to each other because there is a resonator common to both filters. In addition, the width of this strip cannot exceed a few percent. Furthermore in this case the diplexer is necessarily made up of two unitary filters in line.

An object of the invention is to make the unit filters independent of each other, that is to say such that, during the adjustment, there is no interaction of one on the 'other, which simplifies this setting.

Document DE-A-3,028,925 describes a diplexed connection filter, which more precisely is here an antenna splitter, and which comprises two unit filters joined by a common wall and each provided with their independent coaxial access. Their common access is placed in the extension of this common wall, and it is electrically connected to two respective coupling antennas which are provided in the internal space of each of the unit filters, on either side of this common wall and largely away from it. The adjustment of each unit filter is carried out by agreement of the resonators that each filter contains. However, no possibility of adjustment by the coupling members is provided at the access points.

The document EP-A-0.205.151 describes a unitary microwave bandpass filter in evanescent mode, the two coaxial accesses of which respectively enter and exit the filter, are each equipped with a rotary coupling antenna in the form of a crankshaft. , which allows, by rotation of one or the other of these coupling antennas in the form of a crankshaft about their longitudinal axis, to adjust the coupling between this antenna and this unit filter. This document does not however relate to a multiplexed connection filter with several unit filters, and gives no solution for applying this principle of adjustment, by rotary crankshaft coupling antenna, to such a multiplexed connection filter.

  • . lesdites antennes de couplage sont des antennes de couplage en forme de vilebrequin qui sont mobiles en rotation autour de leur axe longitudinal pour permettre le réglage du couplage entre cette antenne et le filtre unitaire concerné ;
In order to achieve the object, the invention proposes for this purpose a multiplexed hyperfrequency branching filter, this branching filter having a first input or output port which is common to several unitary branching filters, joined and / or online, and several accesses independent, output or input, including independent access by unit filter, this common access being placed in the extension of a partition wall, real or fictitious, common to all these unit filters, and being electrically connected to as many '' respective coupling antennas that there are unit filters, this multiplexed connection filter being characterized in that:
  • . said coupling antennas are crankshaft coupling antennas which are movable in rotation about their longitudinal axis to allow adjustment of the coupling between this antenna and the unit filter concerned;
  • . the longitudinal axes of all these coupling antennas are located astride these different unit filters and have one of their ends which is carried, respectively in a rotary manner, by a common part which, being made of electrically conductive material, also serves to electrically connect the base of said access common to each of these coupling antennas, this common part being oriented in the plane of said partition wall.

Advantageously, there is no spacing limit between the tuning frequencies of the two elementary filters and these filters can be wide band or narrow band.

In an exemplary embodiment, the common access is composed:
  • a coaxial base
  • a first metal "plug" part which allows the guide to be recapped after mounting the two crankshaft antennas, this part fitting into a recess in the wall common to the two filters so as to be wedged by the coaxial base,
  • a common part which aims to electrically connect the coaxial base to the antennas, this common part having a narrowed end intended to be inserted tightly in the coaxial base,
  • an insulating tube intended for the passage of the common part in order to avoid a short circuit between the common part and the "plug" part,
  • two crankshaft coupling antennas whose narrowed ends will fit tightly into holes in the common part so as to allow the rotation of these antennas, the other ends leaving the filter through a hole in the same axis as the narrowed ends,
  • of locking screws in rotation of each antenna, each passing through the filter body until it comes to rest on the corresponding antenna.

Such an embodiment of the filter of the invention is simple and more efficient than the devices of the known art.

The unitary filters can be produced in line or side by side: The invention can in particular be applied to two in-line filters, to two side by side filters, to three "triplexer" filters or to four "quadriplexer" filters.

Advantageously, in the method of adjusting such filters
  • the antenna of all the filters minus one is blocked, which makes it possible to adjust this last filter whose antenna is not blocked,
  • when this adjustment is made, the antenna of this filter is blocked,
  • then we unlock the antenna corresponding to another filter, and we set this filter and then re-block said antenna,
  • the successive adjustment of all the elementary filters is thus carried out.

  • les figures 1 à 4 illustrent schématiquement différents types de filtres selon l'invention ;
  • la figure 5 illustre une vue en coupe transversale d'un filtre selon l'invention ;

  • la figure 7 illustre une vue partielle en coupe transversale d'un filtre selon l'invention ;
The characteristics and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows, by way of nonlimiting example, with reference to the appended figures in which:
  • Figures 1 to 4 schematically illustrate different types of filters according to the invention;
  • FIG. 5 illustrates a cross-sectional view of a filter according to the invention;

  • deux filtres unitaires 10 et 11 accolés en technologie "combline" (filtre en peigne) ou évanescent dont le nombre de pôles n'est pas limité (l'exemple représenté ici concerne deux filtres à trois pôles) ;
  • deux accès indépendants (accès 12) équipés chacun d'une antenne de couplage, en forme de vilebrequin, mobile en rotation autour de son axe pour permettre le réglage du couplage entre l'antenne et le filtre. (Une telle antenne est décrite dans la demande de brevet EP-A-0.205.151);
  • un accès commun 14 où on utilise de façon différente une antenne de même type;
The filter of the invention, represented in FIG. 1 comprises:
  • two unit filters 10 and 11 joined in "combline" (comb filter) or evanescent technology, the number of poles of which is not limited (the example shown here relates to two three-pole filters);
  • two independent accesses (access 12) each equipped with a coupling antenna, in the form of a crankshaft, movable in rotation about its axis to allow adjustment of the coupling between the antenna and the filter. (Such an antenna is described in patent application EP-A-0.205.151);
  • a common access 14 where a different type of antenna is used;
  • screws 13 for tuning the filter.

The invention relates more precisely to this common access 14 which makes it possible to produce a filter comprising two unitary filters joined together, as shown in FIG. 1, but which also makes it possible to produce a filter comprising three or four unitary filters joined together as shown respectively in the Figures 2 and 3, or two in-line unit filters as shown in Figure 4.

La cloison 28 à cet endroit a été fraisée en partie de manière à laisser le passage des antennes 22 et 23.The common access shown in Figures 5 and 6 is located on horseback between the two unit filters 10 and 11. The partition 28 at this location has been partially milled so as to allow the passage of the antennas 22 and 23.

Cet accès commun 14 est composé :

  • d'une embase coaxiale 20 (par exemple de type démontable) ;
  • d'une première pièce "bouchon" 21 en métal qui permet de reboucher le guide après montage des deux antennes en vilebrequin 22 et 23, cette pièce 21 s'insérant dans un évidement de la paroi commune aux deux filtres de manière à être coincée par l'embase coaxiale ;
  • d'une pièce commune 24 qui a pour but de relier électriquement l'embase coaxiale 20 aux antennes 22 et 23. Cette pièce 24 présente une extrémité rétrécie 25 destinée à venir s'insérer étroitement dans l'embase coaxiale ; La partie centrale 26 de cette pièce 24 étant de longueur égale à la longueur d'un tube isolant 29, décrit ci-après, et supérieure à la longueur de la pièce "bouchon" 21, afin qu'il n'y ait pas contact entre la pièce commune et la pièce "bouchon" ; L'autre extrémité 27 de cette pièce, de diamètre supérieur à celui de la partie centrale 26 mais inférieur au diamètre de la pièce "bouchon" 21, étant percée de deux trous diamétralement opposés 30 et 31 destinés à recevoir les extrémités rétrécies des deux antennes 22 et 23 ;
  • d'un tube isolant 29, par exemple en polytétrafluoréthylène (PTFE), destiné au passage de la pièce commune 24 afin d'éviter un court-circuit entre la pièce commune 24 et la pièce "bouchon" 21 ; Les diamètres de la pièce commune 24 et du tube isolant 29 étant calculés de manière à être adaptés sur 50 Ohms ;
  • de deux antennes de couplage 22 et 23, en forme de vilebrequin, dont les extrémités rétrécies vont s'insérer étroitement dans les trous 27 et 28 de la pièce commune 24 permettant ainsi la rotation de ces antennes, les autres extrémités sortant du filtre par un trou 35 situé dans le même axe que les extrémités rétrécies ; Le pliage de ces antennes étant tel que chaque ensemble antenne plus pièce commune se trouve coincé dans le guide ;
  • d'écrous 32 et 33 soudés respectivement sur l'autre extrémité de chaque antenne (22, 23), cette extrémité étant extérieure au guide, afin de faciliter la rotation de chaque antenne lors du réglage ;
This common access 14 is made up of:
  • a coaxial base 20 (for example of the removable type);
  • a first metal "plug" part 21 which allows the guide to be recapped after mounting the two crankshaft antennas 22 and 23, this part 21 fitting into a recess in the wall common to the two filters so as to be wedged by the coaxial base;
  • a common part 24 which aims to electrically connect the coaxial base 20 to the antennas 22 and 23. This part 24 has a narrowed end 25 intended to be inserted tightly in the coaxial base; The central part 26 of this part 24 being of length equal to the length of an insulating tube 29, described below, and greater than the length of the "plug" part 21, so that there is no contact between the common room and the "plug"room; The other end 27 of this part, with a diameter greater than that of the central part 26 but less than the diameter of the "plug" part 21, being pierced with two diametrically opposite holes 30 and 31 intended to receive the narrowed ends of the two antennas 22 and 23;
  • an insulating tube 29, for example made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), intended for the passage of the common part 24 in order to avoid a short circuit between the common part 24 and the "plug" part 21; The diameters of the common part 24 and of the insulating tube 29 being calculated so as to be adapted to 50 Ohms;
  • two coupling antennas 22 and 23, in the form of a crankshaft, the narrowed ends of which are inserted tightly into the holes 27 and 28 of the common part 24 thus allowing the rotation of these antennas, the other ends leaving the filter by a hole 35 located in the same axis as the narrowed ends; The folding of these antennas being such that each antenna assembly plus common part is stuck in the guide;
  • nuts 32 and 33 welded respectively to the other end of each antenna (22, 23), this end being outside the guide, in order to facilitate the rotation of each antenna during adjustment;
  • locking screw (34) in rotation of each antenna which pass through the filter body until it comes to rest on the corresponding antenna (32).

The adjustment of the filter according to the invention is easy; indeed :
  • an antenna is blocked, that (22) of the first unitary filter 12 for example, with the corresponding locking screw 34, which makes it possible to hold the common part 24 in position and to adjust the second unitary filter 13 including the antenna 23 n is not blocked, the adjustment of this filter being carried out, the antenna 23 of this filter 13 is blocked using the corresponding blocking screw,
  • then the first antenna 22 is released, the first filter 12 is adjusted and the said antenna 22 is re-enabled.

The same principle is used for the online filter, represented in FIG. 4, the common access of which is located in the middle of the guide.

In the case of a "triplexer" and a "quadriplexer", the common access is on horseback as shown in Figures 2 and 3 and the common part is modified as shown in Figures 7 and 8. Part 39 the widest of this part is pierced with four holes 40, 41, 42, 43 spaced 90 degrees receiving the narrowed ends of four crankshaft antennas 44, 45, 46 and 47.

The "plug" part 48 is also modified: its diameter is increased in order to allow passage to the antennas which must be more curved to be sufficiently distant from each other. In addition, this part is now attached to the filter by at least two screws 49 and 50.

The coaxial base 53 is itself fixed to the "plug" part by at least two screws 51, 52 as shown in FIG. 7.

The adjustment of such a filter is carried out in a similar manner to that described above, namely:
  • the antenna of all the unit filters minus one is blocked, which makes it possible to adjust the last unit filter whose antenna is not blocked,
  • when this adjustment is made, this antenna is blocked,
  • the antenna corresponding to another unitary filter is released, and this filter is adjusted then the said antenna is re-blocked,
  • the successive adjustment of all the unitary filters is thus carried out

In an exemplary embodiment, the filter is made of one-piece extruded aluminum, of square shape. It is possible to give it other forms: rectangular or circular (only in the case of an online diplexer) and to make it in several parts, with cover.

The two independent accesses (coaxial in our case) can be made directly as a guide.

The "plug" part in the examples shown is either wedged in the guide by the base (figure 5) or held by two screws in the guide (figure 7) but it is also possible to screw it into the wall of the guide by threading and directly tapping the guide.

In the case of the "triplexer" the common part 39 is identical to that of the "quadriplexer"; but we only use three crankshaft antennas, one hole remaining unused. It is also possible to machine only three holes in the common room.

It is understood that the present invention has only been described and shown as a preferred example and that its constituent elements can be replaced by equivalent elements without, however, departing from the scope of the invention.
