Description

The invention relates to a thatched roof covering element which consists of a plurality of plastic straws arranged approximately parallel and one above the other, the straws being flattened in their upper end region and connected to one another by thermal welding.

Such a thatched roof covering element according to DE-OS 35 18 686.0 has very good properties in terms of appearance and durability, but it has been shown that it requires a relatively high outlay in production. This high effort is mainly due to the fact that stalks have to be cut to several different lengths, with one end being shaped irregularly to achieve the most natural possible appearance, while a smooth cut is advantageous for the other end at which the welding takes place . The element is still difficult and expensive to install.

It is therefore the task of improving the thatched roof covering element of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be manufactured and laid without sacrificing its advantageous properties which are already present, with significantly less effort.

This object is achieved in the roofing element mentioned at the outset in that the connection of a large number of the stalks arranged next to one another has been effected by thermal welding in the region of their inner ends after laying, with flattening and deformation of these ends, the ends forming a plate as a whole.

In order to give the impression of a natural thatched roof element, the stalks are advantageously of different lengths and can be cut irregularly at their outer ends after installation.

The above-mentioned plates allow a particularly simple installation since they can also have openings for screws, nails or the like introduced by the manufacturer.

Further advantageous embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are set out in claims 3 to 10 and 13.

The method according to the invention for producing the roof covering elements is advantageously characterized in that a suitable thermoplastic is extruded into a straw with a thin wall thickness, this is continuously cut off with a regular length, the straws are sorted thereon and laid to form a flat element, then with one on both sides Provide separating layer and the stalks in the separating layer area are welded together with flattening and the resulting plate is cut in the middle and the side edges. To increase the production speed, a straw of a suitable shape can then advantageously be slit continuously lengthways after extrusion, so that the production of two straws is possible simultaneously with one extrusion head.

The thatched roof covering element according to the invention makes it possible, for the first time, to create the appearance of a thatched roof without the same being dangerous to fire. In terms of insurance technology, a roof with the thatched roof covering elements according to the invention corresponds to a roof with roof tiles, and since the roof covering elements can still be laid easily and even by not particularly trained craftsmen, one can speak of an ideal solution to the problems at hand.

An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail below with reference to drawings. Show it:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of two roof covering elements arranged one above the other according to the invention,
  • Figure 2 shows a double straw before slitting and
  • Figure 3 roofing elements in the eaves and corner area.

The roof covering elements corresponding to a thatch consist of a multiplicity of plastic straws arranged approximately parallel to one another and in some cases also one above the other, the straws being flattened in their upper end region after laying and welded to one another. When welding, the stalks are flattened and their edges weld together, so that a plate is formed, which is approximately 1/4 to 1/3 of the total length of the stem.

The stalks themselves are irregularly long and cut irregularly at their outer, non-welded ends, so that their appearance corresponds to that of naturally laid thatch.

The stalks can have a wide variety of cross sections, they are spiral according to the illustrations, but can also have the shape of an open "6", an "S" or "U" with rolled-in side flanges.

The roof covering elements are provided on both sides in the area of the plate 2 with a separating layer 3, which can be heat-resistant paper, but also gauze, a fleece or a fabric.

The separating layer 3 prevents the welding jaws from sticking during welding and also increases the strength of the roof covering elements in the area of the plate 2. This can be provided with openings 4 after manufacture, so that it is particularly easily attached to the roof by nails, screws or the like can be. The elements are superimposed in a scale-like manner as shown in FIG. 1, the irregular length of the stalks 1 ensuring that the stalk ends are evenly distributed over the surface. This creates the impression of a natural thatched roof, without it being flammable and without having to accept increased insurance premiums.

The color of the straws 1 is chosen so that it corresponds to that of natural reed.

The roofing elements are produced by extruding a suitable thermoplastic, e.g. B. PVC, to a straw with a thin wall, which is cut at intervals. The resulting stalks are then automatically lined up next to each other and in part so that the ends lie on an irregular line. After hanging up or underlaying of the separating layers 3, the later upper ends are then welded and flattened, so that the edges join together and a uniform plate is formed.

After welding, the plate is divided in the middle and the side edges of the plate 2 formed in this way are trimmed, so that regular contours are present in the attachment area to facilitate attachment.

In order to increase the extrusion speed, a double straw according to FIG. 2 can also be produced, which is slit lengthways after extrusion.
