Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a ball game racket, more particularly intended for the game of tennis, and more specifically to a racket of this type made of composite material, based on a fibrous reinforcement and a matrix of organic material. (epoxy resin for example).
  • the document EP-A-0 176 021 relates, for example, to a cross-section tennis racket. variable, which is designed to optimize the bouncing effect of the bale by tuning the frame's oscillation frequency to the beating frequency of the bale.
  • This racket has a thickness (taken in the orthoganol direction to the plane of the racket) which is variable and which is maximum at the branches, this thickness being moreover than that of the handle.
  • the rackets obtained are very rigid, so that if they are likely to be appreciated by very good players, they are less suitable for beginners because of their low tolerance for decentering the point of impact of the ball. It should also be noted that the racket obtained may appear unsightly to some users, rather inclined to acquire a racket of fine appearance, and therefore rather elegant.
  • the invention relates to a tennis racket, and more particularly a racket made of composite material, the frame of which is of variable section, and which, while retaining a fine and elegant external appearance, is shaped to minimize the risks of frame rupture. , while optimizing the qualities of play and remaining in a range accessible to the general public, that is to say not specially reserved for elite players.
  • the section of the frame of this racket is, as mentioned above, variable along the branches and the basket. However, this section maintains a constant perimeter all along these branches and this basket. In addition, this section is of thickness which is less than that of the handle and which is maximum in the respective median zones of the lateral parts of the basket. In this last zone, the width of this same section is minimal (it should be recalled that the height of the frame in the direction orthogonal to the plane of the racket is called “thickness", and "width" that of the section of the frame taken in the plane of the racket). Finally, the frame is provided without an external groove for passage of the cords and, therefore, has a section whose external face is strictly convex over its entire length.
  • this tennis racket is composed of a handle, or handle, 1 which is extended by two branches 2,3 which carry the basket 4, the lower part of which forms the bridge 5.
  • the basket 4 carries , itself the sieve 6, composed of longitudinal and transverse strings and forming the striking surface.
  • the thickness e of the frame of this racket is less than the thickness E of the handle 1.
  • the section S of this frame is variable along the branches 2,3 and the basket 4, the perimeter of this section S however remaining constant along these branches and this basket.
  • the thickness e of this Section S is maximum in the median zone (respectively 7 and 8) of the two lateral parts of the basket 4.
  • the section S in this zone is visible in FIG. 4.
  • the width L of the variable section S is minimal, while the ratio e / L is maximum and equal to 2.2 in this example, so that the section S has a rather elongated appearance in the direction of the thickness e.
  • the thickness e of the section S is minimal, while its width L is maximum, as can be seen in FIG. 7: in these zones, the section S looks rather massive, the e / L ratio being minimal, and equal to 1.53 in this example.
  • the section of the frame at the level of the head 9 of the basket is represented in FIG. 6.
  • the aforementioned e / L value has a value which constitutes substantially the average center that at the median lateral zones (FIG. 4) and that at the branches ( Figure 7): in this specific example, this e / L ratio at the top of the frame is equal to 1.82.
  • FIG. 5 shows for example the section of the basket in zones 10 and 11 which make the transition between the median lateral zones 7,8 and the head zone 9 on the one hand, and between these same zones 7,8 and the branches 2.3 on the other hand.
  • the invention is not limited to the embodiment which has just been described, and is on the contrary capable of being produced in multiple, equivalent forms. It obviously applies to ball rackets which are from the same family as tennis rackets, such as squash or badmington rackets.
  • the aforementioned ratio L is between 2 and 2.5 at the level of the median lateral zones 7.8, is between 1.3 and 1.6 at the level of the branches 2.3, and is between 1.6 and 2 at head 9.
