Ein Problem beim Formteilverpressen von faserverstärkten Kunststoffen tritt bei solchen Pressen dadurch auf, daß die zur Verarbeitung kommenden hochreaktiven Harzmatten nur eine sehr kurze drucklose Liegezeit des Materials in dem beheizten Werkzeugunterteil zulassen. Die Zeit vom Einlegen des Materials bis zum Schließen der Presse muß deshalb so kurz wie möglich gehalten werden. Es sind daher bereits extrem hohe Geschwindigkeiten für das schnelle Schließen des Werkzeugs, z.B. bis zu 1 m/s, eingesetzt worden, die praktisch nicht mehr zu steigern sind, weil eine solche Steigerung mit einem unverhältnismäßig großen Mehraufwand verbunden wäre. Danach muß jedoch vor der Verbindung des durch mindestens einen Preßzylinder betätigten Stößels mit den Gegenhaltezylindern die Geschwindigkeit des Stößels auf nahezu 0 verringert werden, um diese kraft- und/oder formschlüssige Verbindung zu ermöglichen. Einrichtung zum Abbremsen des Stößels einer insbesondere für das Formteilverpressen von faserverstärkten Kunststoffen eingesetzten hydraulischen Presse, deren Stößel durch mindestens zwei vorzugsweise parallellaufgesteuerte hydraulische Gegenhaltezylinder beaufschlagt wird, dadurch gekennzeichnet,
daß zwischen Stößel und jedem Gegenhaltezylinder ein über einen bestimmten Hub durch Drosselung wirksamer rückstellbarer hydraulischer Stoßdämpfer eingechaltet ist, dessen Dämpfungskraft kleiner als die Kraft des Gegenhaltezylinders (2) eingestellt ist.
