Description

  • The invention relates to a a ventilator, comprising a housing which is provided with an air passage, which housing consists of a front housing portion which comprises at the lower side a half of a glass pane mounting and at the three other sides is provided with a flange half and a rear housing portion which comprises at the lower side the other half of the glass pane mounting and at the three other sides is provided with the other flange half and that the flange half of the front housing portion has a surface which is bearing against the internal rebate shoulder of a frame and the flange half of the rear housing portion has a surface which is bearing against a glass lath, that after mounting the ventilator on a glass pane the outer surfaces of said flange halves are situated at the same distance as the inner bearing surfaces of the glass pane mounting halves and that the mounting halves fit against one another for clamping a glass pane therebetween, if necessary with the interposition of a sealing rim.
  • Such a ventilator is known from for example the French patent FR 2.517.354. This French patent describes a ventilator which ventilator consists of two halves, which can be clampingly fixed on a glass pane. However, this ventilator has the disadvantage, that if a glass pane of another thickness is installed, only one half of the ventilator can be used. The dimensions of the other half of the ventilator are related to the thickness of the glass pane on which it has to be mounted.
  • The aim of the invention is a ventilator which can be easily mounted on each glass pane, irrespectively the thickness of the applied glass pane. Another aim of the invention is that after it has been fixed clampingly on a glass pane, the flange which is fixed to the rebate, has the same outer dimensions as the glass pane in use.
  • From the European patent application EP 0.115.824 is known a ventilator which consists of two halves which can mutually be fixed to each other. The disadvantage of this ventilator is that the ventilator has to be screwed to the rebate, and the flange which is in contact to the rebate, has other dimensions than the thickness of the glass pane on which it is mounted. Another disadvantage of this ventilator is that the two halves of the ventilator have to be fixed first before mounting the ventilator, so that after mounting, the two halves cannot mutually be fixed to each other.
  • From a Swiss patent CH 270.178 is known a ventilator which can be mounted underneath a glass pane. The two halves of this ventilator can mutually be fixed to each other after the first half has been fixed to the rebate. However this ventilator cannot be mounted on top of a glass pane.
  • The ventilator according to the invention is characterised in that the inner rear housing portion is provided with a rearwardly extending outlet flow passage or channel, and the outer front housing portion comprises inwardly directed parts fitting in the channel, which sliding flanges can be mutually fixed to each other.
  • By shifting inwards and outwards both portions and mutually fixing them in the desired position, an adaption to any glass pane thickness and different thickness of sealing rims can be obtained, so that it is no longer necessary to manufacture and stocking different ventilators for these purposes.
  • Said means for mutually fixing both housing portions comprise, in particular, elongated slots in a wall of one of the fitting parts, and tensioning screws inserted through said part.
  • The outer wall of the outlet flow passage is, in particular, provided with ledges behind which claws of a distributing cap to be arranged over the outlet opening can grip, said cap, at the same time, covering the tensioning screws.
  • The invention will be elucidated below in more detail by reference to a drawing showing a diagrammatic cross-section of a ventilator according to the invention in the mounted condition.
  • In the drawing a part of a frame 1 is shown which is provided with an internal rebate shoulder 2, against which a glass pane 3 with interposed sealing rims 4 can be fixed by means of a glass lath 5. On the upper edge of the glass pane 3 a ventilator is provided consisting of two portions 6 and 7, each being provided with a lower flange 8 or 9 resp., which flanges, together, form a mounting fitting on the upper edge of the pane 3.
  • Along the three other sides both housing portions 6 and 7 each have a flange 10 or 11 resp., the outer flange 10 bearing against the rebate shoulder 2, and the inner flange 11 against the glass lath 5. These flanges 10 and 11 are shaped in such a manner that their outer surfaces are situated at the same distance as the inner surfaces of the glass pane mounting flanges 8 and 9.
  • The inner housing portion 7 is provided with a rearwardly extending outlet passage or channel 12, and the outer housing portion 6 comprises inwardly directed parts 13 fitting in the channel 12. These parts 13 are, for instance, connected with the forward housing portion 6 by means of insulating bridges 14.
  • In the upper and lower walls of the channel 12 slots 15 are formed, and in the parts 13 of the forward housing portion 6 screw holes 16 are formed in front of said slots, in which holes screws 17, inserted through the slot 15 in question, are screwed.
  • When mounting said housing on a glass pane 3, and after loosening the screws 17 if required, both portions are shifted apart, and, after arranging the pane 3 in the mounting 6, 7, said housing portions can be shifted back again until the sealing 4 has been sufficiently compressed, after which the screws 17 can be tightened. The whole assembly can be fixed thereafter by means of the glass lath 5 in the frame 1.
  • As shown in the drawing at 18, the distance between the casing flanges 10 and 11 at the rebate side and between the flanges 8 and 9 is the same, which last distance corresponds with the distance between the outer planes of the sealing rims 4. The glass lath 5 bearing, at the inner side, on the inner sealing rim 4, also bears against the inner flange 11.
  • It will be clear that the interconnection between both housing halves 6 and 7 can be obtained in many other ways. The internal structure of the air passage of this ventilator is not indicated since it does not belong to the present invention.
  • At the outer side of at least two walls of the channel 12, ledges 19 are formed behind which hooks 20 or the like of a flow distribution cap 21 can engage, which cap, at the same time, covers the screw heads 17.
