Abstract

In a toy vehicle with an electric drive motor and with wiper contacts disposed on the chassis thereof, which are in contact with the drive motor and with electrical conductors embedded in the toy vehicle track, a plurality of wire sections made of an electrically conducting and resiliently elastic material and kept together along part of their length by means of a sleeve are used to assure the maintenance of contact between the toy vehicle and the toy vehicle track and the operational connection of the wiper contacts with the conductors.

Description

The invention relates to a driving toy with an electric drive motor and sliding contacts arranged on the chassis thereof, which are connected to the drive motor and make contact with current conductors laid in the driving lane.

It is known, for example from US Pat. No. 2,703,534, to tap current conductors embedded in play lanes by sliding contacts made of metal fabric strips arranged on the drive toy. However, due to their inherent rigidity, the metal fabric strips have the disadvantage that the contact between the steering wheels and the playing surface can often be lifted when the metal fabric strips are in a steep position, and steering can not be carried out or can only be carried out incompletely, while in the flat position the contacts with the current conductors are made more difficult or are interrupted.

From DE-C-89 367 a pantograph brush is known which has individual wires crimped in the transverse direction to increase the elasticity. The wires are encased in a gauze sheath that covers most of the wire sections.

It is an object of the invention to make the roadway contacts of the toy vehicle and the contacts of the sliding contacts with the current conductors safe and at the same time to reduce the construction effort and assembly effort during production.

According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a number of corrugated wire sections made of electrically conductive and resiliently elastic material, which are gripped by means of a sleeve over a partial length, are used as the sliding contact, and in that the sleeve comprising the wire sections is formed from a material of high electrical conductivity.

It has been shown that the corrugations have an advantageous effect on the mechanical properties of the wire sections, on the one hand preventing kinks and, on the other hand, sufficient deflections, as are required in the system on the current conductors, can take place. The invention is based on an improved driving behavior of the driving toys, especially in curves, with effective contacting of the sliding contacts of the driving toys with the associated current conductors. Faults due to the front area of a toy being levered out by the sliding contacts are effectively avoided. The use of a sleeve made of a material with high electrical conductivity for mounting the wire sections enables simple attachment of the same to the driving toy, for example by clamping, wherein the clamping bodies can simultaneously serve as contacts. The driving toy according to the invention is therefore particularly easy to assemble and, accordingly, inexpensive produce. At the same time, reliable contacting of the individual wire sections with the electrical conductor leading to the motor is ensured.

Phosphor bronze can preferably be used as the material for the filament-shaped wire sections. In this way, brush-like sliding contacts are created, the individual wire sections of which are used independently as contact elements and, owing to their low restoring force, leave the toy safely on the roadway even when tapped off, while at the same time ensuring reliable electrical contact with the current conductors.

In an embodiment of the toy vehicle according to the invention it is provided that with a free length of the wire sections of approximately 10 millimeters, the radius of the wire section corrugation is essentially one millimeter. It is understood that the corrugation can also be carried out with a smaller or larger radius. The size of the corrugation can depend on the free length of the wire sections.

Finally, it is also provided to support the sliding contacts with their sleeves on inclined surfaces arranged in recesses in the chassis and to hold them releasably on the chassis by means of clamping bodies fixed to the chassis. The clamping bodies can expediently be fixed on the chassis by grasping chassis-fixed formations. The clamping bodies can thus be fixed to the vehicle chassis without tools or clamping means.

In the figures, 1 denotes a chassis of a driving toy which can be driven on driving tracks (not shown) by means of wheels 2. The chassis 1 carries, in a manner known per se, an electric motor (not shown) as the drive element, which is connected to sliding contacts 3 via electrical conductors. The sliding contacts 3 protrude the underside of the chassis 2 obliquely backwards and downwards with their free part in the Contact contact embedded electrical conductors and connected to a power source.

In the exemplary embodiment, the chassis 1 has recesses 4 with inclined surfaces 5 (FIG. 2), on which sliding contacts 7 can be placed and fixed by means of clamping bodies 6. The clamping body 6 are formed by sheet metal parts which have gates 6 'for this purpose, which press on the sliding contacts 7. The fixation of the clamping body 7 is carried out by the rear part of the wall parts of the chassis 1. In Fig. 2, the recesses 4 are arranged on a pivotable chassis part 1 ', on which 8 guide lugs 9 for the toy are held on guide rails by means of pins.

The sliding contacts 7 have a flattened sleeve 10, which according to FIGS. 3 to 5 in the central opening 11 a number, for. B. Hold 110 pieces of independent wire sections 12 made of a resilient metallic material. Phosphor bronze serves as a suitable material for the wire sections 12. The wire sections 12 are corrugated, the corrugation being arbitrary, preferably with a free length of 10 millimeters with a radius of one millimeter. The sleeve 10 comprising the wire sections 12 is made of copper, whereby a secure contact between the sleeve 10 and the wire sections 12 is ensured. In Fig. 6 it can be seen that the corrugation of the wire sections 12 is approximately sinusoidal.

It is in accordance with the invention that the shaft radius can be selected to be larger in the case of sliding contacts of larger design.
