Definitions
- the invention relates to a carrier plate for punching knives, consisting of a plate made of multilayer plywood, into which continuous incisions are made for receiving punching knives protruding from the plate on one side for producing cutting and / or creasing lines.
- Plates made of plywood, especially birch wood, are still predominantly used to hold punching knives for the production of cardboard blanks. Notches connecting both surfaces are sawn into these plates or burned in with a laser. Punching knives are used in these incisions for producing cutting and / or creasing lines in accordance with the pattern of the blank to be produced.
- the punching knives protrude from the plate on the side facing the cardboard to be processed, hereinafter also called the front side, while they are flush on the back with the plate surface. They can therefore be supported from the back by a base plate to absorb the cutting force.
- Carrier plates are therefore also known which consist of two outer metal plates which sandwich a plastic plate. Although these carrier plates have a longer service life, they are so expensive to manufacture that they can only be used economically with very large quantities.
- the invention has for its object to provide a support plate of the type mentioned, which can be improved with relatively little effort in terms of durability and insensitivity to climatic influences.
- the carrier plate according to the invention is characterized in that channels are incorporated into the plate, into which plastic stiffening webs are inserted.
- the stiffening webs are preferably formed by pouring in a casting resin, to which a hardener can optionally be added.
- a resin produced by the company Ciba-Geigy under the name "Araldite” can be considered as casting resin.
- the carrier plate preferably consists of two superimposed, screwed, glued or otherwise connected partial plates of the same or different thickness.
- the channels can be worked into one or both of the facing surfaces before the partial plates are assembled. Bores for pouring the casting resin and for venting the channels lead from these to the surface of the assembled carrier plate, in particular to the front side.
- the stiffening webs are preferably perpendicular to these punching knives, so that they support the cutting knives laterally against each other. This is advantageous since a lateral deflection of the punching knives in the carrier plate would lead to inaccuracies in the cutting lines. In many cases it is advantageous to arrange the stiffening webs in a cross grid in the plate.
- the punch knives are preferably coated with a release agent so that they can be pulled out of the carrier plate when the punch knives are replaced and do not adhere to the stiffening webs.
- Figure 1 is a plan view of a rectangular plywood backing plate 10.
- carrier plate 10 In the four corner areas of the carrier plate 10 there are adjustment bores 12, 14, 16, 18 for fastening the carrier plate on a base plate, not shown, of a punch.
- Carrier plates 10 are attached to this base plate in a number which corresponds to the number of benefits which can be produced from the processed material.
- the carrier plate 10 has incisions 20 in a predetermined pattern, which completely penetrate the material of the carrier plate from one surface to the other. These incisions 20 are interrupted in suitable positions by webs 22 so that the plate material lying within closed incision lines does not fall out.
- Punching knives are inserted into the incisions 20, which completely penetrate the material of the carrier plate and, with their cutting and creasing edges (not shown) on the front side of the carrier plate visible in FIG Close the backing plate flush with this.
- the punch knives are therefore supported on the back against the base plate mentioned, while on the side visible in FIG. 1 they face the cardboard material to be cut.
- the punching knives In the area of the webs 22, 24, the punching knives have corresponding recesses on their back.
- the carrier plate 10 is provided on the front side visible in FIG. 1 with bores 24 arranged in a grid. These holes serve as injection openings for a casting resin or as ventilation openings, as will be explained in more detail later.
- FIG. 2 shows one of the two congruent partial plates 26 assembled to form a carrier plate from the inside, that is to say the side connected to the other partial plate, not shown. Otherwise, FIG. 2 shows that of the two partial plates, which is visible from the front in FIG. 1.
- FIG. 2 it can be seen that 26 channels 28 are incorporated into the inner surface of the partial plate.
- the course of the channels depends on the arrangement of the punching knives.
- the punching knives run in a ladder-shaped arrangement transverse to the longitudinal direction of the rectangular partial plate 26, and the channels 28 are arranged in three strands parallel to one another and to the longitudinal direction of the partial plate 26 perpendicular to the transverse punching knives.
- the bores 24 shown in FIG. 1 each open in accordance with FIG. 2 in the end region of the channels 28 lying between two parallel punching knives.
- One of the bores 24 in each case can therefore be used as an injection bore and the other as a vent bore.
- the channels 28 are half congruent in the mutually opposite inner surfaces of the partial plate 26 and the associated other partial plate 30. It is assumed in FIG. 3 that the partial plates 26, 30 are essentially of the same thickness. However, partial plates 32, 34 of different thicknesses can also be used, as shown in FIG. 4. In this case, channels 36 can be provided in the thicker partial plate 32 alone. Otherwise, it may be appropriate not to channel the channels in the central plane Arrange the carrier plate, but instead, for example, in the direction of the cutting edges of the punching knife. Finally, it is not necessary to use a split carrier plate. Rather, the channels can also be drilled in a coherent carrier plate, although this is relatively complex in terms of production technology.
- the channels 28 are first worked into the inner surfaces of the partial plates 26, 30. Then the holes 24 are made which connect the channels to the front surface of the carrier plate. Finally, the partial plates 26, 30 are glued to one another and additionally connected from the rear using screws. In Figure 2, the axes of the screws are only indicated by points 38.
- the punching knives (not shown in FIGS. 1 and 2) are first coated with a suitable release agent and then inserted into the incisions 20.
- the punching knives are flush with the rear edge 42 to the rear surface 44 of the carrier plate 10, while they protrude from the front surface 46 with the cutting or creasing edge 48. In the area of the webs 22, the punching knives are interrupted from the rear edge 42.
- the punch knives 40 each divide the channels 28 in the length that can be seen in FIG.
- the channels 28 are filled via the bores 24 with a casting resin which is mixed with a hardener. After hardening, the casting resin forms relatively firm stiffening webs within the carrier plate, which form a very intensive connection with the adjacent wood of the carrier plate. Due to the release agent mentioned, the casting resin does not adhere to the punching knives, so that they can be pulled out in the event of a knife change.
- the channels 28 run perpendicular to the parallel incisions 20 directed transversely to the carrier plate, so that they support the punching knives against one another under lateral loading.
- the channels can also run through the carrier plate in a cross pattern.
- Figures 5 and 6 are front and rear views of a carrier plate 50 with dimensions for punching a folding box.
- the carrier plate has incisions 52 which are arranged in a pattern predetermined by the shape of the box and are interrupted by webs 54 in the manner already described.
- fields 56, 58 are provided for receiving stamps. Further details are not to be explained in this respect, since the arrangement of punching knives and stamping dies on carrier plates are known measures.
- Adjusting bores 60, 62, 64, 66 are located at the four corners of the carrier plate 50.
- bores 68 in the front surface of the carrier plate 50 adjacent to the punching knives which are not specifically identified, which correspond to the bores 24 according to FIG.
- the bores 68 serve to inject casting resin or to vent the channels (not shown in FIGS. 5 and 6) which, similarly to FIG. 2, connect the parallel, adjacent punching knives perpendicularly to one another.
- Relatively short channels with correspondingly smaller bores 70 connect the fields 56, 58 for receiving embossing dies with the adjacent punching knives.
- FIG. 6 shows screws 72 arranged in a grid, which connect the partial plates from which the carrier plate 50 is composed.
- the dimensional accuracy of the carrier plate and the incisions made with a laser beam or in another way can be further improved in that channels are worked into the carrier plate and sprayed with plastic before the incisions are made.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a carrier plate for punching knives, consisting of a plate made of multilayer plywood, into which continuous incisions are made for receiving punching knives protruding from the plate on one side for producing cutting and / or creasing lines.
Plates made of plywood, especially birch wood, are still predominantly used to hold punching knives for the production of cardboard blanks. Notches connecting both surfaces are sawn into these plates or burned in with a laser. Punching knives are used in these incisions for producing cutting and / or creasing lines in accordance with the pattern of the blank to be produced. The punching knives protrude from the plate on the side facing the cardboard to be processed, hereinafter also called the front side, while they are flush on the back with the plate surface. They can therefore be supported from the back by a base plate to absorb the cutting force.
If the punching knives have become blunt after a large number, for example several hundred thousand cuts, the punching knives are replaced. The carrier plates mentioned generally allow three "dimensioning". According to this, the accuracy of the cutting lines is usually no longer sufficient for reasons of wear, so that new carrier plates have to be produced at considerable costs. A longer lifespan of the carrier plates would naturally be desirable. Moreover, wooden support plates have the disadvantage that they can shrink or expand under the influence of changes in temperature and air humidity, so that the accuracy requirements that are common today cannot always be met.
Carrier plates are therefore also known which consist of two outer metal plates which sandwich a plastic plate. Although these carrier plates have a longer service life, they are so expensive to manufacture that they can only be used economically with very large quantities.
The invention has for its object to provide a support plate of the type mentioned, which can be improved with relatively little effort in terms of durability and insensitivity to climatic influences.
To achieve this object, the carrier plate according to the invention is characterized in that channels are incorporated into the plate, into which plastic stiffening webs are inserted.
The stiffening webs are preferably formed by pouring in a casting resin, to which a hardener can optionally be added. For example, a resin produced by the company Ciba-Geigy under the name "Araldite" can be considered as casting resin.
The carrier plate preferably consists of two superimposed, screwed, glued or otherwise connected partial plates of the same or different thickness. In this embodiment, the channels can be worked into one or both of the facing surfaces before the partial plates are assembled. Bores for pouring the casting resin and for venting the channels lead from these to the surface of the assembled carrier plate, in particular to the front side.
When using a plurality of parallel or substantially parallel punching knives, the stiffening webs are preferably perpendicular to these punching knives, so that they support the cutting knives laterally against each other. This is advantageous since a lateral deflection of the punching knives in the carrier plate would lead to inaccuracies in the cutting lines. In many cases it is advantageous to arrange the stiffening webs in a cross grid in the plate.
Before the injection of the casting resin, the punch knives are preferably coated with a release agent so that they can be pulled out of the carrier plate when the punch knives are replaced and do not adhere to the stiffening webs.

Figure 1 is a plan view of a rectangular
In a conventional manner, the
In deviation from conventional carrier plates, the
In Figure 2 it can be seen that 26
According to FIG. 3, the
In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the
After the
The position of the punching knife within the
After inserting the punching knife in the manner described, the
An den vier Ecken der Trägerplatte 50 befinden sich Justierbohrungen 60,62,64, 66.Figures 5 and 6 are front and rear views of a
According to FIG. 5, there are
The rear view shown in FIG. 6 shows screws 72 arranged in a grid, which connect the partial plates from which the
The dimensional accuracy of the carrier plate and the incisions made with a laser beam or in another way can be further improved in that channels are worked into the carrier plate and sprayed with plastic before the incisions are made.
