Abstract

The one-piece snap closure made of plastic for the opening of a container is provided with a sealing lever (3) above a covering plate provided with an opening, which sealing lever is articulated to a spring hinge (2) which is connected to the upper side of the closure in an articulated manner via a swivel connection (16). The sealing lever (3) and the spring hinge (2) are of approximately rectangular construction and, in the closed position, fill a diametrical incision in the upper side of the closure together with guide cylinders (7) of the swivel connections of the spring hinge (2) in such a way that the upper side of the sealing lever (3) and of the spring hinge are in alignment with the upper side of the closure. After overcoming this top dead center 9, i.e. after exceeding the shortest, dash-dotted line 23 between the axis of the guide rollers 7 and the articulated connection 16 in the clockwise direction, the bias of the spring hinge 2 in the sense of an accelerated opening movement of the sealing lever 3 from the dead center position 9 into the open end position 10, in which the Spring hinge 2 is shown in the extended position shown in Fig. 4, so that the sealing lever is fixed in this extreme open position. The closing process of the sealing lever naturally takes place in the reverse order.

Claims (3)

  1. One-piece snap closure of plastics material with a lower portion (1) which may be mounted in a sealed manner on the throat surrounding the opening of a container by means of a member (12) projecting from the undersurface of a cover plate (11), whereby an opening (13) through the cover plate may be closed by means of a plug which is arranged on the undersurface of a sealing arm (3) which is mounted so as to be pivotable with respect to the lower portion (1) and which is connected spaced above the cover plate (11) to the lower portion (1) by a spring hinge (2) and is mounted with lateral pivots in openings (19) in support walls (22,23) so as to be pivotable between an open and a closed position by overcoming a dead-centre position, which support walls are arranged on the cover plate (11) of the lower portion (1) and laterally define a recess (21) for the recessed accommodation of the sealing arm (3) and the spring hinge (2), whereby in the closed position of the sealing arm (3) the upper surface thereof and of the unstressed spring hinge (2) is flush with the upper surface of the closure,
    characterised in that the lateral pivots are constructed as cylindrical guide rollers (7), the surface of the sealing arm (3) extending tangentially to the guide rollers (7) and the sealing arm (3) being connected to the spring hinge (2) along a surface line with a pivotal connection (15) and that the guide rollers (7) engage the upper surface of the cover plate (11) in bearings (18) which comprise upwardly open insertion openings (19) in the support walls (22,23) and have bearing surfaces (21) which, on one side of the insertion openings (19) comprise semi-circular recesses which are directed towards the pivotal connection (16) between the lower portion (1) and the spring hinge (2).
  2. Closure as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the lid (3), which is constructed to be longer than the spring hinge (2) substantially covers the spring hinge (2) in the open condition.
  3. Closure as claimed in claims 1 or 2, characterised in that the pivotal connection (16) between the lower portion (1) and the spring hinge (2) is narrower than that (15) at the guide rollers (7).
