Description

The invention relates to a tile cutting device comprising an elongate support plate with two trestles arranged on its longitudinal ends for holding at least one guide rod directed at a distance from the support plate parallel to this, on which a cutting tool is displaceable in the longitudinal direction of the rod and adjustable essentially perpendicular to the surface of the plate, and an angle bracket with two mutually perpendicular legs, which is adjustable on the support plate parallel to the longitudinal direction of an angle leg.

In known tile cutting devices of the type described above, the displaceable angle leg provided with a scale is guided perpendicular to the cutting direction on the support plate, so that only edges parallel Cuts can be made on the tiles. However, if the tiles are cut diagonally to their edges, this must be done more or less freehand.

The invention is based on the object of specifying a tile cutting device of the type mentioned at the outset which enables tiles to be cut precisely with a cutting line running parallel or at an angle different from 90 ° to the tile edges.

According to the innovation, this object is achieved in that the stop angle is guided in an adjustable manner on a turntable which is rotatably mounted on the plate surface about an axis perpendicular to this. The axis of the turntable preferably lies in the plane which contains the cutting line of the cutting tool and is oriented perpendicular to the support plate. Due to the rotatability of the stop angle, it is possible to cut the tile in the conventional way with a cutting line running parallel to its edges or to align it by rotating the stop angle in a well-defined manner so that the tile is cut at an exact cut line to its outer edges can. The stop angle can be provided in the known manner with a measuring scale, so that the stop angle can be adjusted according to the desired cutting line course on the tile relative to the path of the cutting tool. In order to facilitate the turning of the stop angle by a precisely defined angular amount, it is proposed according to the innovation that the turntable has a circular disk segment which is provided on its circular arc-shaped circumference with an angle scale that a mark for setting a on the inside of the bracket adjacent to the turntable Scale value is arranged and that the Legs of the stop angle guided on the turntable are guided along the base of the circular disk segment in such a way that the edge of the angle leg intended to stop a tile runs through the axis of the turntable. The arrangement of the marking on the inside of the trestle adjacent to the turntable gives the possibility that the stop angle can be rotated at least approximately by the same angular amounts on both sides. Because the edge intended for contact with the tile runs through the axis of the turntable, the one end point of the cutting line on the tile can be set so that it coincides with the axis of rotation of the turntable and thus remains stationary when the stop angle is rotated. To align the tile, it only needs to be rotated together with the stop angle until the second end point of the cutting line on the tile also coincides with the path of the cutting tool.

The turntable is expediently provided with guide means for a translational displacement of the stop angle, in which, for example, the turntable has a groove or tongue directed in the sliding direction of the stop angle, which is intended for engagement with a complementary tongue or groove on the stop angle. Expediently, both the stop angle on the turntable and the turntable can be locked in their respective rotational position relative to the marking on the trestle.

The tile cutting and breaking machine shown in Figures 1 to 3 comprises an elongated rectangular support plate 10, which is generally bent from sheet steel, but can also consist of plastic or, for example, a die-cast part. At the longitudinal ends of the support plate, two blocks 14 are arranged parallel to the transverse sides 12 thereof, only one of which is shown in FIGS. 1 to 3. The trestles 14 serve to hold two cylindrical guide rods 16 which are aligned at a distance from one another parallel to the longitudinal edges 18 of the support plate 10 and are at a certain distance from the surface 20 of the support plate 10, as can be seen in FIG. 3. On the guide rods 16, a slide 24 is slidably guided by means of four guide bushes 22, which has two spars 26, which are parallel to its direction of displacement and fork-like elongated towards the support plate 10, between which the cutting and breaking tool, generally designated 28, is pivotably mounted about an axis 30 .

The cutting and breaking tool comprises a flat carrier 32 with a fork-shaped section 34, between the two legs of which a cutting tool 36 in the form of a ground disk made of hard metal or another suitable material is rotatably mounted. At approximately the same height as the cutting tool 36, laterally projecting crushing vanes 38 are arranged on the support 32, which, after cutting or scoring the tile surface, serve to press the tile sections on both sides of the cut over a crushing web 40 which is parallel to the cutting line 42 (FIG 2) rises above the surface 20 of the pressure plate 10. A rod-shaped handle 44 (FIG. 3) screwed into the upper end of the support 32 serves to move the slide 24 and to pivot the support 32 when cutting and breaking a tile. The cutting device described so far is known per se.

A stop bracket 48 with two legs 50 and 52 directed perpendicular to one another is used to align a tile 46 indicated by dash-dotted lines on the support plate 10. The stop bracket 48 is mounted on a semicircular turntable 54, which has a pin 56 on the surface 20 of the support plate 10 is rotatably mounted such that the axis of rotation 57 perpendicular to the surface 20 extends through the cutting line 42 drawn by the cutting tool 36. The turntable 54 has along its semicircular base edge 58 a recess 60 corresponding in width and height to the angled leg 50, in which the angled leg 50 is guided to be parallel to its longitudinal direction. The guidance takes place by means of a rib or spring 62 formed on the base of the recess 60, which engages in a groove 64 formed in the angle leg 50.

As can be seen in FIG. 3, the edge 66 of the angled leg 50 intended for contacting the tile 46 is aligned with the edge 58 of the turntable 54, so that the edge 66 of the angled leg 50 also runs through the axis of rotation 57 of the turntable 54. The angle leg 50 can be clamped in a desired position on the turntable 54 by means of a button 68 which can be screwed into the turntable 54.

The turntable 54 has an angular scale 72 along its circular arc-shaped circumferential section 70, to which a marking 74 is assigned, which is arranged on the inside of the bracket 14 facing the turntable 54. The turntable 54 can be locked in a desired angular position by means of a locking screw 78 passing through a threaded bore 76 in the bracket 14.

To produce an edge-parallel cut in a rectangular or square tile, the turntable 54 is in the position shown in FIG. 1. It is sufficient to shift the stop angle 48 on the turntable 54 until the mark 80 arranged on the pin 56 indicates the desired distance of the cut from the tile edge on the length scale 82 provided on the angle leg 50. When generating a cut that runs obliquely to the tile edges, the rotary disk 54 is rotated by the desired angular amount or until an edge marking indicating the course of the cut on the tile lies exactly on the breaking rib 40 of the support plate 10 after this setting process described above. The turntable 54 is then locked in this position. Since the edge of the turntable 54 engages in a groove 84 formed on the inside of the bracket 14 (FIG. 3), the turntable cannot move upwards when the locking screw is tightened and detach from the support plate. The cutting and breaking process takes place as with conventional tile cutting machines.
