Description

The invention relates to a dropper bottle, which has the features of the upper handle of claim 1, and a method for its production.

In a known dropper bottle, the head of the blow-molded bottle is provided with a calibrated seat, into which an injection molded dropper insert is inserted. In another known dropper bottle made from a hose made of heat-sealable plastic, a dropper is embedded in the bottle head, which was used in a known manner (DE-OS 30 33 821) instead of a rubber stopper in the bottle head before the latter was formed. With both bottles, the dropper not only significantly increases the manufacturing costs, but also the costs of manufacturing the bottle. In addition, it is difficult to ensure complete sterility of the dropper bottle.

A dropper bottle of the type mentioned at the outset is also known (US Pat. No. 2,097,912), the neck of which is designed as a dropper. The channel bounded by the inner wall of the neck initially tapers slightly in the outflow direction, has a constant diameter in a central section and then widens towards the drip edge with a cone angle of more than 90 °. The drop section that widens conically in the outflow direction and an outer conical surface that forms the drip edge together with this conical surface are responsible for the drop formation, the large cone angle of the end section counteracting the surface tension of the liquid and ensuring a uniform supply of liquid to the drip edge. So that the liquid can be dispensed in individual drops, only a small part of the free cross-sectional area of the central section may be filled with the liquid during the pouring process. The bottle must therefore be handled with care when dispensing the liquid drop by drop, which in many cases is bothersome or even unacceptable.

The invention has for its object to provide a dropper bottle that can be easily manufactured and filled sterile, easy to handle when dropping the liquid contained in it reliably keeps the drop size constant and can still be produced inexpensively. The invention is also based on the object of specifying a method for producing such a dropper bottle.

With regard to the dropper bottle, this object is achieved by the features of claim 1. Such a dropper bottle, because it consists of a heat-sealable plastic and the dropper can be molded together with the bottle, can be as inexpensive as a bottle without a dropper be manufactured and filled sterile. The shape of the channel of the dropper also ensures that the liquid is dispensed in drops of the same size in every inclined position of the dropper bottle. Handling is therefore completely unproblematic.

In a preferred embodiment, the dropper has a shape according to claim 2.

A closure part is advantageously formed on the dropper, since on the one hand the bottle is closed at the earliest possible time and on the other hand there is no danger that the bottle will be opened unintentionally. In order to be able to open the bottle without difficulty, a predetermined breaking point is preferably provided between the closure part and the bottle neck, as is known per se (US Pat. No. 4,655,355). When the closure part is designed according to claim 5, it can be easily broken off with the aid of a closure cap, the predetermined breaking point being able to be designed in such a way that no sharp edges arise. It is also advantageous that no additional tools have to be available to open the bottle.

With regard to the method for producing the bottle, the object of the invention is achieved by the features of claim 6. Both the production of the bottle from a tube made of heat-sealable plastic and the formation of a dropper from a calibrated part of the bottle head are inexpensive work steps. In addition, the bottle can be filled between the individual steps used to shape the bottle and its head, so that the method according to the invention allows a sterile container to be produced, filled, molded on and closed in a single operation without additional Parts are needed.

Vorteilhafte Ausgestaltungen des erfindungsgemäßen Verfahrens sind Gegenstand der Ansprüche 7 bis 10.Advantageous embodiments of the method according to the invention are the subject of claims 7 to 10.

The invention is explained in detail below using an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing. Show it
  • 1 is a view of the embodiment in the state ready for sale,
  • Fig. 2 is an enlarged and partially sectioned view of the bottle head of the embodiment, each with one half of two differently designed caps.

A dropper bottle serving as an ampoule for a liquid medicament has, as shown in FIG. 1, a cylindrical bottle body 1, the bottom of which is slightly curved inwards. The bottle head connects centrally to the bottle body 1 with a first cylindrical section 2.

This is followed by a second cylindrical section 3 with a larger diameter, which is provided with an external thread 4. Between two successive gears of this external thread 4, a stop bar 5 running parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bottle head is provided. Opposite this, offset by 180 °, a brake web, not shown, is arranged, the length of which, however, is only equal to half the pitch of the external thread 4.

The second cylindrical section 3 merges into a third section 6 of the bottle head, the diameter of which is only about half as large as that of the first cylindrical section 2. This third section 6 forms a truncated cone-shaped zone following a cylindrical ring zone, which is against the Free end of the bottle head tapers and forms part of a dropper designated as a whole with 7. The dropper 7, which is formed in one piece with the bottle head, has, following the third section 6, a conical section 8 which widens towards the free end. Not only the outer surface, but also the inner surface of the conical section 8 have a cone angle of about 10 °. The formed by the inner circumferential surface of the conical section 8, calibrated channel 8 ', where it opens into the interior 6' of the third section 6, has a diameter of 0.3 mm in the embodiment. The other end, which is followed by a short inner cone 9 with a cone angle of 60 °, has a diameter of 1.5 mm in the exemplary embodiment. However, the conical section can also have other dimensions because it is adapted to the desired drop formation in the liquid. Furthermore, you can provide a cylindrical channel section between the calibrated channel 8 'and the interior 6', which is preferably calibrated.

At the end of the dropper 7 facing away from the third section 6 is an approximately cube-shaped closure part 10 integrally formed, which slightly overlaps the end of the dropper 7 pointing away from the bottle body 1 and tightly closes the dropper 7 and thus the entire bottle. In the area of the overlap over the dropper 7, the connection zone between the closure part 10 and the drop 7 is chosen to be so thin that there is a predetermined breaking point along which the closure part 10 can be separated from the dropper 7 by a rotary movement without sharp edges occurring .

In the ready-to-sell state, a cap 11, which is also made of plastic, is placed on the bottle head and is provided with an internal thread which engages in the external thread 4 of the second cylindrical section 3. As shown on the right in FIG. 2, the cap 11 tapers in connection with the cylindrical section having the internal thread against the end section comprising the closure part 10, which lies against the outer surface of the closure part 10 and is thereby connected to the closure part 10 in a rotationally fixed manner. When the cap 11 is rotated in the sense of being removed from the bottle head, the closure part 10 is therefore separated from the dropper 7. However, as shown on the left in FIG. 2, the cap can also be designed such that it normally covers the closure part 10. You can then separate the closure part 10 from the dropper 7 by reversely attaching the cap 11 to the closure part 11. For this purpose, the cap in this case has a recess 12 in its end wall, the cross-section of which is adapted to the outer contour of the closure part 10 and overlaps the cap 11 like a ring spanner.

The entire bottle is made from an extruded tube made of a heat-sealable plastic. The hose is first made with the help of two Lower mold halves of a device for producing, filling and closing bottles of the bottle body 1 are formed. At the same time, the first cylindrical section 2 and the second cylindrical section 3 of the head part obtain their final shape with the aid of one jaw each of two head mold halves. Subsequently, the liquid is poured into the bottle body in the desired amount by means of a filling mandrel from which a calibration mandrel protrudes. Now the mandrel is withdrawn to such an extent that the calibration mandrel lies in the interior of that section of the tube from which the dropper 7 is formed with the aid of calibration jaws which are now moved against one another and thereby form the dropper 7 together with the calibration mandrel. Finally, the calibration mandrel is pulled out of the upper end of the hose, then the closure part 10 is formed by means of mold jaws in the head mold halves, thereby closing the bottle and finally fitting the cap 11.
