Abstract

The subject of the description is a manual shower which comprises a shower head with separate outlet openings (4, 5) for a constant shower jet on the one hand and pulsating shower jet on the other as well as a change-over device (7, 8, 9), with which device the water can be guided alternately into one of the two groups of outlet openings (4, 5). The aim is to provide a design which is simpler and more operationally reliable than known massage shower types and in which no parts running in bearings, or subject to wear and blockage are required. For this purpose, the outlet openings (5) supplying a pulsating shower jet are combined with an annular circulation channel (15) into which obliquely directed feed channels lead and in which a freely movable float (17) is also located which is set in motion by the obliquely directed water flow from the feed openings and successively blocks a number of the outlet openings (5) in each case. The float (17) has at best a circular cross-section and its main shape is curved to correspond to the curving of the circulation channel (15). <IMAGE>

Description

The invention relates to a hand shower with a shower head with outlet openings both for a constant water jet and for a pulsating water jet and with a switching device with which the water can be directed either to one of the two groups of outlet openings, the one for the pulsating water jet the intended outlet openings are connected to an annular circulation channel arranged in the shower head, in which at least one freely movable boat, each blocking a part of the outlet openings, is arranged with sufficient play in its cross section, and into which the water is conducted via at least one inclined feed channel, so that the boat is set in constant motion by the inflow of water into the circulation channel.

A known hand shower of this type (US-A-4089471) has at its bottom outlet openings for a pulsating water jet having a circulation channel which has a substantially square cross-section and in which there are balls intended for circulation and bodies intended for circulation which have a segment-like shape and are open at the top. In the top wall of the circulation channel there is an inclined feed channel through which water is pressed into the circulation channel, which is intended to set the balls and the segment-shaped bodies in a circular motion, so that the outlet openings are temporarily open and temporarily closed.

This known arrangement has two fundamental disadvantages, namely that it uses balls to close the outlet openings and that it uses segment-shaped bodies that are open at the top. The used When circulating in the circulation channel, balls are not able to close the respective adjacent outlet opening for a longer period of time, so that there is only a very short interruption in the water outlet and therefore no pronounced pulsating jet formation. The segment-shaped bodies represent a reliability problem because the water entering them obliquely from above presses them against the bottom surface of the circulation channel, so that they can get caught or jam, which danger is further increased by the fact that the segment-shaped bodies are also can tilt in a plane parallel to the bottom surface of the circulation channel.

It is also already known to use hand showers for switching between normal shower operation and pulsating shower operation with an impeller or the like. equip to which the water flow is directed so that when the impeller rotates, part of the outlet openings are blocked for the water. In this known hand shower, however, the storage of the impeller axis is a problem, and moreover the sharp corners of the wing groove can wear out over time or become inoperative due to contamination.

It is an object of the invention to improve a hand shower so that a pronounced pulsation of the water jet is achieved with a simple structure and reliable operation.

To solve this problem, a hand shower of the type mentioned is designed according to the invention in such a way that the circulation channel and the elongated, curved boat corresponding to the circulation channel have circular cross sections and that the oblique feed channels extend from the outer circumference into the circulation channel.

The circular cross-section of the circulation channel and the circular cross-section of the elongated boat, which is easy to manufacture in this way, result in a special one good guidance in the circulation channel without the risk of canting, the shape of the boat closing individual outlet openings for a long time, so that there is a distinctly pulsating water jet.

The even guidance and the avoidance of canting of the shuttle in the circulation channel is also promoted by the fact that the water supplied through the feed channels hits the shuttle from the outside, which is pressed outwards by the centrifugal force due to its circulation movement in the circulation channel. The water supplied thus counteracts the centrifugal force on the boat and thereby prevents it from getting caught on the outer peripheral region of the circulation channel.

Further refinements of the invention result from the subclaims.

  • Fig. 2 einen Schnitt längs der Geraden A-A in Fig. 1.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the figures which represent an exemplary embodiment. Show it:
  • 1 shows the hand shower according to the invention viewed laterally in section,
  • FIG. 2 shows a section along the line AA in FIG. 1.

In Fig. 1 part of the handle of the hand shower designated by the reference number 1 is omitted. At the end of the handle 1, a cup-shaped shower head is arranged in a normal manner, which bears the general reference number 2. On the circular underside 3 of the shower head, on the one hand outlet openings 4 for a steady water jet and on the other hand outlet openings 5 for a pulsating water jet are arranged.

For manufacturing reasons, a separate part 19 is arranged between the cup-shaped part 2 and the lower part 3 of the shower head, and the parts 3 and 19 are fastened to the cup part 2 with screws 6.

The number 7 denotes a two-armed lever 7 of the switching device, which in turn acts on a spindle 8 which is vertically movable in the drawing, at the end of which there is a valve disk 9.

The spring 14 endeavors to hold the plate 9 in the low position shown in FIG. 1, in which it seals against the surface 10.

In the normal position, in which the plate 9 is in the low position according to FIG. 1, the water passes through the channel 11 in the handle 1 into the chamber 12, which is connected to the annular space 13 in the cup part 2. In this case, the water emerges from the openings 4 as a constant stream.

If the right, shorter arm of the lever 7 is depressed, the valve plate 9 is raised and the water is directed into the annular channel 16, from where it reaches the annular circulation channel 15 via the feed channels 18, as is more clearly shown in FIG. 2 can be seen, and finally emerges from the openings 5 providing a pulsating shower. Thanks to the water pressure, the valve plate 9 remains in the high position until the water supply is blocked or the longer arm of the lever 7 is forced downward.

The construction of the annular channel 16, the feed channels 18 and the circulation channel 15 can be better seen in FIG. 2. As can be seen, the feed channels 18 extend obliquely inwards from the annular channel 16 into the circulation channel 15, the direction of the channels 18 including an angle of preferably 30 ° to 60 ° with the tangent of the circulation channel 15. According to the invention, a freely movable shuttle 17, which fits into the channel 15 with sufficient play, is further arranged in the circulation channel 15, the length of which is selected such that it blocks part of the outlet openings 5. As a result of the oblique arrangement of the channels 18, the water flow sets the shuttle 17 in a constant orbital movement.

In the described embodiment, the outlet openings 5 are arranged in three groups of three openings each. The length of the boat 17 is such that it always covers one opening group at a time in a certain position. The positioning of the outlet groups and the feed channels are of great importance with regard to the speed of rotation. It has been found that the rotational speed is greatest when, as in FIG. 2, the feed opening is approximately in the middle between two groups of openings. In practice, of course, a construction with variable mouths of the feed channels 18 is also conceivable. The easiest way to do this is to arrange the openings 5 on a separate, sealed ring body, the position of which can be changed by twisting. In this way, the vibration frequency of the pulsating shower can be regulated.
