Description
The present invention relates to an electrically powered encapsulated glazing and more specifically an electrical supply terminal for encapsulated glazing having coatings or equipment requiring an electrical supply.
The terminals used with conventional glazing, that is to say not encapsulated, such as for example those described in patent document FR 1527738 are not compatible with encapsulation of glazing, that is to say the incorporation of said glazing in a frame in polymerized organic material produced by molding on the periphery of said glazing. The electrical terminals would be encased in polymerized material and should first be cleared so that the electrical connection could be made.
In addition, these conventional terminals are generally quite fragile and they may not withstand the release operation without damage.
Furthermore, the encapsulation frame would be damaged.
The present invention provides an electrical terminal for encapsulated glazing, easy to install, requiring no release operation after encapsulation, at a cost reduced to such an extent that it is conceivable to systematically equip all of the encapsulated glazing likely to be supplied electrically, whether these glazings are actually supplied or not, the unused terminal does not affect the aesthetics of the glazing and does not cause any discomfort. This terminal can also be used for non-encapsulated glazing.
The terminal according to the invention consists of a hollow rivet or a press button fixed so as to provide the electrical connection on a conductive area deposited on the glazing.
In the case of an encapsulated glazing, the terminal is fixed on a conducting zone of the glazing, at the edge of said glazing and it is coated in the polymer for encapsulating the glazing so that it is flush with the external surface of the material d encapsulation forming a frame around the glazing.
Advantageously, this terminal is a female terminal constituted by a hollow rivet, the flared part of which is fixed to the glazing and the end of the narrowed opposite part of which is flush with the surface of the encapsulation material.
- Figure 4 : une borne associée à une pince.
- Figure 1 : the soldering of a terminal in the form of a hollow rivet on the edge of a glazing completely or partially covered with a conductive deposit.
- Figure 2 : the installation of the glazing fitted with its electrical supply terminal in an encapsulation mold.
- Figure 3 : the manufacture of the encapsulation frame and the surrounding of the terminal by the material of the encapsulation frame.
- Figure 4 : a terminal associated with a clamp.
The invention is particularly suitable for the supply of electric current, of encapsulated glazing covered on all or part of their surface with electrically conductive deposits.
These deposits are conductive strips produced by screen printing and electroplating, and / or thin layers of metal or metal oxides. As thin layers there may be mentioned the layers of tin oxide, of ITO (indium tin oxide), the stacks of layers of the tin oxide / Ag / tin oxide type. Conductive layers other than those above exemplified are also affected by this invention.
The glazing thus coated is used both in the automotive field and in the building sector.
It can be deposits and / or heating layers, burglar-proof (that is to say the breaking of the electrical continuity and / or the modification of the electrical resistance, or the leakage effect of the field, it ie no IR reflection, following a breakage following a break-in trigger a signal warning of the break-in or an action), with radio antenna function, with IR remote control signal receiver function.
According to the invention, a
To guarantee good maintenance of this
Other methods of attachment are also possible. Thus by way of nonlimiting example,
This
The height of this
The hollow rivet shown in Figures 1 to 3, however, has the advantage of having an enlarged base thanks to which it can be easily welded and thanks to which also a good electrical contact can be established, to have a narrowed opposite end does not not detrimental to aesthetics, to be a very cheap commonplace product.
As illustrated in FIG. 2, the
The connection of
Optionally, the connection of this plug may require the insertion of a film of organic material which would cover the cover of the rivet.
The glazing on which this terminal can be fixed is single or multiple glazing.
In the preceding text, only one terminal has been mentioned per glazing, but of course a plurality of such terminals may very well be fitted to the same glazing.
In this text, the electrical terminal has been described as being disposed on the edge of the glazing in an area intended to be enclosed in the material of the encapsulation frame. Of course, terminals such as hollow rivets or snaps fastened securely by soldering or welding on a glazing in a conductive zone, may as well be elsewhere than on the edges of said glazing, for example in the regions of the center of the glazing, whether or not this glazing is encapsulated.
These terminals have been described as being used for electrically supplying conductive deposits made on the glazing, but they can also be used for electrically supplying electrical elements incorporated in the glazing or attached to or associated with the glazing, for example lighting, (lamps, headlights) various electrical instruments. Admittedly, the incorporation of these terminals in the encapsulation material makes them almost invisible, reinforces their protection against impact or corrosion, and therefore has various advantages; but this is not essential.
