Description

The present invention relates to a contact lever for an electrical switch device, more particularly for a low voltage cut-off device.

Such contact levers are generally made of copper and have a contact zone intended to cooperate with a fixed contact of the apparatus, while the permanent electrical connection of the contact zone with a terminal of the apparatus is ensured by means of '' a flexible link such as a braid welded at one point of the lever. When the contact lever is in the closed position, the electric current therefore flows through the braid and the part of the lever between the welding point of the braid and the contact zone.

The production of the stamped copper lever is relatively expensive.

To reduce the cost price of a contact bridge in a contactor, it is known to make this steel lever and to bring it at least in the contact area a contact piece in a better conductive material. However, this solution remains poor in terms of electrical conduction due to the low electrical conductivity of the steel.

The object of the present invention is to lower the cost price of a contact lever for an electrical switch device while ensuring good electrical conduction properties and, where appropriate, arc resistance.

According to the invention, the contact lever is constituted by a structural piece of material with low electrical conductivity connected to a terminal of the device via a flexible conductive link and it comprises, to cooperate with a fixed contact of the device, a contact piece of material with good electrical conductivity attached to the structural piece; the structural part is a thin part delimited by two parallel lateral faces and by a slice; the contact piece has a fixing cheek applicable on a first lateral face of the structural part and a contact pad applicable on the edge of the structural part, while the flexible conductive link is fixed on a second lateral face of the structural part substantially opposite a part of the cheek for fixing the contact piece.

The current path in the structural part - preferably steel - is thus minimized and the electrical losses are reduced. The contact piece is preferably made of copper. The cheek for fixing the contact piece and the flexible conductive connection - preferably a braid - are advantageously welded on either side of the steel piece. This has good rigidity and can be simply cut, while presenting towards its free end located in the vicinity of the copper contact piece an arc horn.

  • La figure 2 est une vue du levier de contact selon la flèche A de la figure 1 ;
  • Les figures 3 et 4 sont des vues latérales d'une partie du levier de contact respectivement selon les flèches B et C de la figure 2 ;
A nonlimiting embodiment of the invention is described below with reference to the drawings.
  • FIG. 1 schematically represents an electrical protection switch device equipped with the composite contact lever according to the invention;
  • Figure 2 is a view of the contact lever according to arrow A in Figure 1;
  • Figures 3 and 4 are side views of part of the contact lever respectively according to arrows B and C of Figure 2;
  • Figure 5 shows in perspective the copper contact piece.

The contact lever 10 illustrated is incorporated into an electrical protection switch device S. This low-voltage type device is a disconnector-circuit breaker, but may also be a circuit breaker, comprising for each pole such a contact lever. The lever 10 consists of a steel part 11 on which is welded a copper piece 12 having according to the invention a fixing cheek 13 and a contact pad 14. The lever 10 is intended to pivot around an axis 0 so that the contact pad can be applied to a fixed contact part 15 electrically connected to a terminal 16 of the device and can separate from said part 15 respectively. The connection between the fixed contact 15 and terminal 16 is illustrated in dashes and the contacts are shown closed in FIG. 1. The lever 10 pivots in the direction of the arrow F under the effect of an automatic or manual command to open the contacts. A flexible copper braid 17 is used to electrically connect the lever 10 to a terminal 18 of the device; the braid 17 is for this purpose welded, on the one hand, to the lever 10 and, on the other hand, to a part 19 for connection to the terminal 18.

In more detail, the volume of the steel part 11 of the lever is defined by two parallel lateral faces 20, 21 and a section 22 (FIG. 2). The fixing cheek 13 of the contact lever is welded in a place 23 of the face 20 of the lever near one end of the latter, while the contact pad 14 is applied to the edge 22 of the lever. The braid 17 is welded on a surface 24 of the face 21 substantially facing a part of the cheek 13. The part 12 is provided with pins 25 which facilitate the electrical welding of its cheek 13 on the steel part 11.

A notch 28 is provided in the copper part 12 between the cheek 13 and the shoe 14 (see FIGS. 4 and 5) in the vicinity of an adjoining part 29 of the steel part 11, so as to impose on the current I which passes in the contact lever 10 a path close to the outer face 30 of the part 12.

When the switching device 10 is closed, the current I in the contact lever 10 flows (FIG. 1) from the terminal 18 in the connection piece 19 and the braid 17, then passes through the thickness of the part 11 of the lever from face 21 to face 20 thereof, that is to say perpendicular to said faces (see FIG. 2), and travels in the welding cheek 13 towards the contact zone of the shoe 14 passing near the face 30 and under the notch 28 to pass to the fixed contact 15.

At a free end 26 of the contact lever 10, on the side of the copper piece 12 opposite the central zone of the lever, an arc horn 27 is provided. The magnetic field created by the circulation of the current I on this side 'notch 28 to the point of contact of the shoe 14 is channeled by the steel part 29; consequently, the foot of the arch is blown from the shoe 14 towards the horn 27. The wear due to the arch is therefore exerted on the horn 27 and not on the copper piece 12. It follows that the piece copper can be made thinner, which facilitates its manufacture by cutting and folding.
