Abstract

The present invention relates to a container-disperser for chaff constituted by metal strips or by metallized strips, the container-disperser comprising two end plates (130, 140) which are generally parallel and interconnected by spacers (150, 155) suitable for trapping strips of chaff so as to temporarily retain at least a portion of the chaff when the container is ejected from a case, thereby dispersing the chaff in stages.

Description

La présente invention concerne les leurres électromagnétiques. The present invention relates to electromagnetic decoys.

The present invention relates more precisely to a container-disperser of metallic or metallized flakes forming a screen reflecting electromagnetic waves and constituting decoys for the deception of weapon systems equipped with a guide with active electromagnetic detector.

The term "glitter" should be understood in a broad sense; it covers the needles, ribbons and / or metallic or metallized particles, in particular metallized glass fibers, of chosen length, often called "chaffs" known to those skilled in the art and generally used for the seduction and diversion of weapon guidance systems.

Is illustrated in Figure 1a attached, in exploded view, and in Figure 1b attached, in assembled view, the structure of a conventional container of glitter.

The conventional container 10 illustrated in the appended figures comprises a base 20 and two removable shells 30, 40 which in combination define a closed cylindrical housing capable of receiving a cylindrical block 50 of glitter. Block 50 is schematically illustrated in broken lines in FIG. 1a. The base 20 is formed of a disc. Each shell 30, 40 comprises a semi-cylindrical wall 32, 42 coaxial with the disc 20 and a semi-circular fabric 34, 44 secured to the wall 32, 42 and parallel to the base 20.

The container 10 is generally placed in the socket of a cartridge. The shells 30, 40 are separated from the base 20, to release the block 50 of glitter, when the container is ejected from the sleeve.

Document EP-A-0029078 describes another container-disperser for electromagnetic decoys comprising a main shell and two auxiliary shells. The main shell comprises a circular flat wall provided respectively on either side with two diametrically opposite semi-cylindrical walls. The auxiliary shells each comprise a semi-cylindrical wall and a cover in the form of a flat and circular wall.

Document DE-A-3327043 describes another container-disperser for electromagnetic decoys which, according to the preamble of claim 1, comprises flanges connected by a central spacer. Document DE-A-3327043 specifies that in an attempt to control a staggered dispersion of the lures, the flanges are coated on their lower surface, by flocking, with a synthetic material capable of retaining the ends of the lures.

Known containers have already done great service. However, the Applicant has found that these containers frequently have the drawback of releasing bundles of agglomerated flakes, which are totally ineffective for the disappointment of weapon guidance systems, instead of dispersing the flakes.

La présente invention a pour but d'éliminer cet inconvénient. The object of the present invention is to eliminate this drawback.

To this end, the present invention provides a container for dispersing metallic or metallized flakes forming a screen reflecting electromagnetic waves and constituting decoys, of the type comprising a body composed of two generally parallel flanges rigidly connected by at least one spacer, characterized in that :
  • At least one of the flanges has at least one peripheral recess,
  • - that the container also comprises at least one removable shell such as the spacers and the shell (s) form (s) in combination a continuous envelope between the two flanges, the shell (s) having a complementary fabric of the recess so that the spacers form a trap with respect to the flakes, in order to temporarily retain at least part of these when the container is ejected from a socket and to control a staggered dispersion of the flakes.

Other characteristics, aims and advantages of the present invention will appear on reading the detailed description which follows, and with reference to the appended drawings, given by way of nonlimiting examples, in which FIGS. 1a and 1b which illustrate the state of the art having already been described:
  • FIG. 2 represents a schematic perspective view, in a position separated from the shells, of a container according to the present invention,
  • - Figure 3 shows a schematic perspective view of the same container, in the assembled position.
  • FIG. 4 represents a partial schematic exploded perspective view of the same container and more particularly illustrates the structure of the body thereof, and
  • FIG. 5 represents a view in longitudinal section of the same container according to a cutting plane referenced VV in FIG. 4.

The container 100 illustrated in FIGS. 2 to 5 comprises a body 120 and two removable shells 160, 180.

The body 120 and the shells 160, 180 form in combination a closed cylindrical housing centered on an axis 100. The latter constitutes an axis of symmetry of the container.

The body 100 comprises two parallel flanges 130, 140 connected by two spacers 150, 155.

Le premier flasque 130 est formé d'un disque transversal à l'axe 102 et centré sur celui-ci.The first flange 130 is formed of a disc transverse to the axis 102 and centered on it.

The veil is delimited by a disc-shaped envelope provided with two recesses 141, 144. The external radius of the flange 140 equals the external radius of the flange 130. The recesses 141, 144 open onto the periphery of the flange 140. They are diametrically opposite with respect to the axis 102. They have the shape of circular sectors centered on the axis 102. The recess 141 is limited by the spokes 142, 143 having an angular opening α. The second recess 144 is limited by the spokes 145, 146 preferably having the same angular opening α. The spokes 142, 143 and 145, 146, and therefore the recesses 141, 144, have a plane of symmetry, passing through the axis 102 and orthogonal to the section plane of FIG. 5.

De préférence l'ouverture angulaire α est de l'ordre de 90°.Preferably the angular opening α is of the order of 90 °.

However, the recesses 141, 144 do not extend to the axis 102 so as not to divide the flange 140 into two separate elements, but to keep the flange 140 in unitary form.

The radially innermost zone of the recesses 141, 144 is therefore delimited by generatrices 147, 148 transverse to the aforementioned plane of symmetry of the recesses.

They are formed by cylinder sectors centered on the axis 102. The spacers 150, 155 have a radius of curvature equal to the outside radius of the flanges 130, 140. The spacers 150, 155 have an angular opening β complementary to that of the recesses 141, 144. In other words, the spacer 155 has an angular opening β equal to the angle delimited by the spokes 143, 146. The second spacer 150 has an angular opening β equal to the angle delimited by the spokes 142, 145. The spacers 150, 155 extend between the flange 130 and the flange 140. However, they extend beyond the flange 140 in the form of ribs d ring shape centered on the axis 102, referenced 151, 156.

The walls 161, 181 are formed by cylinder sectors centered on the axis 102 having the same radius and the same length than the spacers 150, 155. The walls 161, 181 have an angular opening complementary to the spacers 150, 155, is equal to the angle α. The fabrics 162, 182 are delimited by generally flat circular sectors having the same angular opening α; the outline of the cloths 162, 182 is complementary to the recesses 141, 144. The cloths 162, 182 are transverse to the axis 102. The walls 161, 181 are connected to the periphery of the cloths 162, 182. However they extend beyond fabrics 162, 182 in the form of ribs centered on the axis 102, referenced 163, 183.

En position assemblée, les nervures 151, 156, 163, 183 forment un anneau continu centré sur l'axe 102.In the assembled position, the ribs 151, 156, 163, 183 form a continuous ring centered on the axis 102.

La colonne 132 est munie d'un canal central 134.The element 103 is formed by the flange 130 and a column 132 secured to the internal face 135 of the flange 130 and centered on the axis 102. The column 132 is provided with a central channel 134.

La canne 157 est adaptée pour recevoir la colonne 132.The second element 104 is formed by the flange 140, the two spacers 150, 155 and a cylindrical rod 157 centered on the axis 102 integral with the internal face of the flange 140 between the two spacers 150, 155. The rod 157 is suitable for receive column 132.

This groove has an internal radius of curvature equal to the radius of internal curvature of the spacers 150, 155 and of the walls 161, 181, to receive the end of the latter opposite the flange 140 and the fabrics 162, 182.

More precisely, advantageously, this groove 136 is delimited by a surface 137, transverse to the internal surface 135 of the flange 130, which is not parallel to the axis 102, but frustoconical of revolution around the axis 102 in converging on this axis 102 in away from the surface 135. In addition, the shells 160,180 are provided on the internal surface of the walls 161,181, opposite the webs 162,182 with ribs 184 complementary to the above-mentioned groove 136. Thanks to the engagement thus defined between the groove 136 and the ribs 184, the shells 160, 180 can only move axially relative to the body 120 after ejection of the container-disperser out of a cartridge case.

Celles-ci sont de préférence placées parallèlement à l'axe 102.To assemble the body 100, it suffices to place the column 132 in the rod 157. When the shells 160, 180 are placed on the body 100, as illustrated in FIG. 3, they form therewith a closed cylindrical housing suitable for contain a packet of glitter. These are preferably placed parallel to the axis 102.

If necessary, several cuts can be made in the glitter pack, transverse to the axis 102, through the body 100 and / or the shells 160, 180 to make glitter of different lengths. To diversify the length of the flakes, the flanges 130, 140 are preferably frustoconical. These arrangements are already described in patent application FR-A-2521716 in the name of the Applicant and will therefore not be described in more detail below. Note however that preferably when there is provided flakes covering the entire length of the spacers 150, 155, these longer flakes, uncut, are placed opposite the shells 160, 180 to be ejected first, during the separation of the shells 160, 180.

The container shown in FIGS. 2 to 5 appended can be placed in a decoy launch cartridge socket as defined in patent applications FR-A-2521716 and FR-A-2436363 or an equivalent cartridge.

When the container is ejected from the sleeve, the ribs 163, 183 provided on the shells 160, 180 provide a "windward" which facilitates the separation of the latter.

The flakes placed opposite the shells 160, 180 are dispersed first. The flakes placed opposite the spacers 150, 155 are dispersed later on the trajectory of the container.

The flange 130 may contain a pyrotechnic charge for the deposition, while the column 132 and the rod 157 may contain pyrotechnic relays and delays, as taught by documents FR-A-2 B521716 and FR-A-2436363, for successively diffusing a plurality of elementary charges of lures placed in respective containers stacked in a common cartridge.
