Abstract

The device features two counter-rotatably driveable working rollers (1, 2) where the distance between the shafts of the working rollers (1, 2) is securely set by cylinder rings (7, 8, 11, 12) attached to the ends of the rollers and in rolling contact with one another in pairs. In order to be able to adjust the distance between the shafts of the working rollers with little effort, the cylinder rings (7, 8, 11, 12) are provided with conical running surfaces, the running surfaces (L) of the cylinder rings of one working roller (1) converging towards the axis of rotation of the latter and the running surfaces (L) of the cylinder rings of the other working roller (2) converging towards the axis of rotation of the latter in the opposite direction. Moreover, the circular cones forming the running surfaces (L) have the same included angle and one of the working rollers (1, 2) is displaceable in the direction of its axis of rotation. <IMAGE>

Description

The present invention relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 1.

A device of this type is known from US-A-2 503 858. The roller pressure can be adjusted by means of a preloaded pair of springs, which also acts as a safeguard against overloading the rollers. This device is sufficient if high roller pressures are not required for processing the material web and if a constant roller pressure does not have to be guaranteed.

When printing or rotating material webs, the distance between the cylinders must be observed very precisely and must not change even under load. In addition, the cylinders must be able to be started and stopped reproducibly in a simple manner when the web is drawn in.

These requirements are met by the well-known bearer rings (hardened, cylindrical races at the cylinder ends). However, these have the disadvantage that the distance between the cylinders is fixed and cannot be varied, e.g. Compensate for changes due to heating, wear or paper thickness tolerances.

An adjustment to the paper thickness is particularly necessary for the rotary punching of adhesive labels, since here the upper one Foil or paper layer must be cut through completely, while the lower carrier web must not be cut. A rational way of working can only be achieved here if the center distance between the cylinders can be varied while the machine is running, since even the smallest manufacturing tolerances of the die or minor wear and tear require readjustment.

A bearer ring is known from DE-A 31 31 167, the diameter of which can be changed. For this purpose, its treads are formed by interchangeable steel strips which are detachably clamped on an inner ring. The use of such bearer rings has the disadvantage that a change in the center distance of the work rolls can only be carried out when the machine is at a standstill, and it is also labor-intensive to replace the steel belts. Furthermore, a large number of steel strips must be kept in stock in order to be able to adjust the roller spacing as infinitely as possible.

A 22 05 527 teaches to change the center distance of the work rolls by using race rings instead of bearer rings, wherein a rolling ring can be pushed between two cooperating race rings. The pair of races of one of the two work rolls must be freely rotatable on the assigned roll axis. The disadvantage of this solution is that it is extremely mechanically complex and that the concentricity fluctuations of the bearings do not allow precise work.

The object of the present invention is to improve a device of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it ensures a constant roller spacing under high and changing loads.

According to the invention, this object is achieved by the characterizing features of claim 1.

  • Fig. 1 eine Ansicht einer Vorrichtung und
  • Fig. 2 einen Ausschnitt in Richtung des Pfeiles II gesehen.
The invention is explained, for example, with the aid of the attached schematic drawing. Show it:
  • Fig. 1 is a view of a device and
  • Fig. 2 seen a section in the direction of arrow II.

The device shown in the drawing has two working cylinders 1 and 2. Both are rotatably supported in the side cheeks 3, 4 of the machine stand by means of axle journals. On the sections 5, 6 of the axle journals of the upper working cylinder 1, a bearer ring 7 or 8 is fitted, the running surfaces L of which are designed as truncated cone surfaces. 1 converge to the left against the axis of rotation of the working cylinder 1. They are parallel to each other, that is, the two cones forming the lateral surfaces have the same opening angle and are aligned axially with the axis of rotation of the working cylinder 1.

The lower working cylinder 2 is rotatably mounted with its axle journals and axially displaceable to a limited extent in bearings 13 and 14. On sections 9 and 10 of these journals, bearer rings 11 and 12 cooperating with the bearer rings 7, 8 are mounted, the running surfaces L of which are also designed as truncated cone surfaces and are parallel to one another. They converge in Fig. 1 right against the axis of rotation of the working cylinder 2, on which the associated cone apex lies. The opening angles of all the circular cones forming the running surfaces L are the same.

The two bearings 13 and 14 each have a cylindrical bearing bush 15 which is rotatably mounted in a corresponding bore 16 in the side cheeks 3 and 4, respectively. The axle journals are mounted eccentrically to the center axis of the bearing bush 15, so that the axis spacing between the bearer rings 7, 8, 11, 12 changes when the bearing bushes 15 rotate. To adjust the contact pressure of the working cylinder, a toothed segment 17 is attached to each bearing bush 15. A tooth segment 18 meshes with each of these, which are non-rotatably mounted on a shaft 19. The shaft 19 can be driven manually or by a motor on both sides by means not shown.

A bracket 20 is fixedly connected to the cheek 3, in the yoke of which an adjusting screw 21 is rotatably mounted. This is screwed with its threaded shaft end into a threaded bore 22 of the left journal of the work roll 2. The threaded bore 22 is aligned axially to the axis of rotation of the work roll 2. If the screw 21 is rotated, the work roll 2 shifts axially in its bearings 13 and 14. The conical running surfaces L of the bearer rings 7, 8, 11, 12 shift in the direction of the axes of rotation relative to one another, thereby increasing their center distance in accordance with the direction of displacement or reduced. If the center distance between the work rolls 1, 2 is to be increased, the shaft 19 is preferably rotated before or during the turning of the screw 21 and the contact pressure of the work rolls 1, 2 is reduced. The width of the gear wheels 23, 24 which connect the work rolls 23, 24 in terms of gear are designed so that they remain in full engagement over the entire axial displacement range of the work roll 2.

The work rolls 1, 2 are preferably punching or printing rolls; however, they can also serve other processing purposes.
