Abstract
In the case of a cathode ray tube with a thick second grid electrode (24) in the electron beam generator system, partial image blurring can result from the current transfer through the second grid electrode (24). To avoid this error, the opening (4) in the second grid electrode (24) has an extension (6), for example in a conical or stepped form.
Description
The invention relates to an electron gun system for cathode ray tubes according to the preamble of claim 1.
Electron beam generator systems for cathode ray tubes, which have a cathode and grid and focusing electrodes, are known (DE-OS 32 12 248). In order to achieve a thin electron beam and thus a small electron impact spot on the fluorescent screen of the cathode ray tube, it is necessary to make the second grid electrode relatively thick. That is, the depth of the opening in the second grid electrode should be large. It is entirely possible that the depth of the opening corresponds to the diameter of the opening.
With such a configuration of the second grid electrode, it can happen that in the time from turning on the cathode ray tube to formation stable space charge conditions around the cathode, the electron beam expands and thereby strikes the wall of the opening in the second grid electrode. The electrons grazing the wall of the opening in the second grid electrode in turn trigger secondary electrons which reach the third electrode, also called the focusing electrode. Such leakage currents are initially immeasurably small, but with increasing operating time, currents that can be measured briefly in the µA range at the second and third grid electrodes result because precipitation of vaporized cathode material in the opening of the second grid electrode results in the secondary electron yield of initially approx. 1 multiplied. These fault currents cause a change in the voltage on the second grid electrode, it becomes more positive, and also the voltage on the focusing electrode, which becomes more negative. Due to these potential changes, the electron beam is not optimally focused for a short time, which leads to image blurring. In unfavorable cases, self-blocking can even occur due to total current transfer to the second and third electrodes.
The invention has for its object to provide an electron gun for cathode ray tubes with a thick second grid electrode, which has no image blur due to current transfer through the second and third electrodes.
This object is achieved with the means specified in claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention are contained in subclaims 2 to 7.

In the
In all electrodes of the
In Fig. 3 only the
Hier soll die Bedingung d1 = do + 2c.tan α erfüllt sein, wobei α ≧ 10° sein soll.8 shows a further exemplary embodiment of a
The detail X from FIG. 8 is shown in FIG. 9. In this embodiment too, a rectangular opening can be present in the bottom 7, which acts as an astigmatic beam hole.
