Definitions
- the invention is based on a compressed gas switch with two contact pieces which can be brought into or out of engagement with one another along an axis, a first of which is designed as a nozzle and has spring-mounted contact fingers on a tubular contact carrier, with an insulating nozzle and with a heating volume for storing switching arcs generated Compressed gas, in which a second of the two contact pieces is passed through the constriction of the insulating nozzle in the switched-on state and is inserted into the first contact piece with a free end to form a contact force with the contact fingers, and in which compressed gas is switched off by the heating volume through the insulating nozzle and the first one when switching off Contact piece flows into an exhaust space.
- the invention relates to a prior art of gas pressure switches, such as is described in DE-A1-34 25 633.
- pressure gas when switching off during the high current phase, pressure gas is generated using the switching arc and in a heating volume saved.
- the stored compressed gas draws energy from the switching arc by means of axial blowing and thus extinguishes it.
- a considerable part of the compressed gas stored in the heating volume can be discharged through a switching piece designed as a nozzle into the exhaust area of the switch before the zero current. The larger the cross section of the nozzle, the greater the proportion of compressed gas removed from the heating volume.
- the known gas pressure switch in the embodiment according to FIG. 3 has a further constriction downstream of the nozzle constriction of the nozzle-shaped switching element. This further constriction closes off a volume limited by the upstream part of the switching element, which supports the heating power of the switching arc when switched off and causes an increase in pressure in the heating volume.
- the invention solves the problem of specifying a pressure gas switch which is characterized by a high pressure build-up in the heating volume and a large thermal extinguishing capacity.
- the compressed gas switch according to the invention is distinguished by a large short-circuit current carrying capacity and a high thermal extinguishing capacity.
- this is due to the fact that large short-circuit currents can be conducted because of the suitably constructed switching element which acts as an extinguishing nozzle and at the same time an outflow of the compressed gas generated by the switching arc the exhaust area is largely avoided.
- this is also due to the fact that when the current to be switched off approaches a zero crossing, the switching element, which acts as an extinguishing nozzle, exhibits optimal fluidic behavior.
- FIG. 1 there is a fixed contact 1 with a nominal current contact 2 and a fully cylindrical, erosion-proof contact 3 and a contact 4 movable along an axis by a drive (not shown) in a filled with an arc-quenching insulating gas, housing, not shown.
- the contact piece 4 has at its end facing the contact piece 1 an insulating nozzle 5 consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene with a constriction 6.
- an annular channel 7 which connects the constriction 6 with an annular heating volume 8 which extends radially outwards through a for carrying a nominal current contact 9, tubular nominal current contact carrier 10 of the switching element 4 is limited.
- the switching element 4 also has a tubular contact carrier 11, which is electrically conductively connected to the nominal current contact carrier 10 and is enclosed by the latter.
- ring-shaped contact fingers 12 are resiliently attached.
- the spring-mounted contact fingers 12 can be formed, for example, by axially made incisions in the contact carrier 11.
- an axially displaceable, tubular body 13 is guided, the end of which faces the contact piece 1 is made of erosion-resistant material.
- the tubular body 13 is in constant electrical connection with the contact carrier 11 via an annular sliding contact 14 and thus with a power connection (not shown) for the switching element 4.
- the end of the tubular body 13 facing away from the switching element 1 is supported on a spring 15 which in turn rests on an annular extension 16 of the contact carrier 11 is mounted is.
- the tubular body 13 and the tubular contact carrier 11 also each have a step-shaped extension 17 and 18, respectively.
- the two switching elements 1 and 4 are in engagement with one another (right part of FIG. 1) and the current to be switched off flows predominantly in the nominal current path formed by the nominal current contacts 2, 9.
- the erosion-resistant contact piece 3 is guided in an almost gas-tight manner through the constriction 6 of the insulating nozzle 5 and is inserted into the contact piece 4 with its free end.
- the contact fingers 12 are resiliently supported on the lateral surface of the contact piece 3 with the formation of contact force, and the contact piece 3 has guided the tubular body 13 into the interior of the contact piece 4 while charging the spring 15.
- the switching piece 4 When switching off, the switching piece 4 is guided downwards by the drive (not shown) and the nominal current contacts 2, 9 first separate.
- the current to be switched off is now predominantly commutated into a current path running from the contact piece 3 via the contact fingers 12 and the contact carrier 11.
- the contact piece 3 and the contact fingers 12 separate. Since the tubular body 13, under the action of the loaded spring 15, is constantly supported here under the formation of contact pressure on the free end of the contact piece 3, the current to be switched off commutates into the extinguishing current path formed by the contact piece 3, the tubular body 13, the sliding contact 14 and the contact carrier 11.
- the tubular body 13 and the contact piece 3 now separate and a switching arc is drawn between these two parts.
- This switching arc heats up the surrounding insulating gas, which is fed into the heating volume 8 via the ring channel 7 and stored there.
- the heating effect of the switching arc is greatly reduced and the compressed gas stored in the heating volume 8 now flows as in the left part 1 is shown by directional arrows through the now open constriction 6 of the insulating nozzle 5 and through a nozzle constriction 19 determined by the tubular body 13 into an exhaust space and thereby extinguishes the switching arc.
- the switch according to the invention has the advantage on the one hand that the diameter of the nozzle constriction 19 can be freely selected. It is hereby achieved that the pressure loss during the formation of compressed gas as a result of heating by the switching arc before the zero current crossing can be kept extremely small despite the use of a contact piece 3 with a large diameter suitable for guiding large currents.
- the switch according to the invention also has the advantage that it is possible by choosing a suitable distance h (right part of FIG. 1) between the two extensions 17 and 18, which determine the overtravel of the tubular body 13 when it is switched off, as the extinguishing nozzle bring acting tubular body 13 to a fluid mechanically optimal position.
- the tubular body 13 forming a nozzle constriction 19 when switched off, in contrast to the pressure gas switch according to FIG. 1, is not driven by a spring, but by an arrangement containing a piston 20 and a cylinder 21, which is different from the one in FIG Switch off in the heating volume 8 stored compressed gas is actuated.
- the piston 20 is designed as an annular piston directly connected to the tubular body 13. This annular piston slides in a gas-tight manner in the cylinder 21 delimited by the contact carrier 11 and a base 22.
- this switch corresponds to the switch according to FIG. 1, but, in contrast to this, does not require a spring and can be easily adjusted to the pressure to be expected in the heating volume 8 when it is switched off, depending on the switch type, by suitable selection of the effective area of the piston 20 adjust the stored compressed gas.
Abstract

The pressure gas switch has two contact pieces (3; 11, 12, 13), one of which (11, 12, 13) is designed as a nozzle, as well as an insulating nozzle (5) and a heating volume (8) for storing switching gas generated by switching arc. This switch should be characterized by a high pressure build-up in the heating volume (8) and a large thermal extinguishing capacity. This is achieved by the multi-part construction of the contact piece (11, 12, 13) acting as a nozzle. In particular, this contact piece (11, 12, 13) has a tubular body (13) made of erosion-resistant contact material which is axially displaceably guided in a contact carrier (11) and which, when switched off, causes the nozzle constriction (19) to act under the action of a spring (15) Contact piece (11, 12, 13) forms.
Description
The invention is based on a compressed gas switch with two contact pieces which can be brought into or out of engagement with one another along an axis, a first of which is designed as a nozzle and has spring-mounted contact fingers on a tubular contact carrier, with an insulating nozzle and with a heating volume for storing switching arcs generated Compressed gas, in which a second of the two contact pieces is passed through the constriction of the insulating nozzle in the switched-on state and is inserted into the first contact piece with a free end to form a contact force with the contact fingers, and in which compressed gas is switched off by the heating volume through the insulating nozzle and the first one when switching off Contact piece flows into an exhaust space.
Here, the invention relates to a prior art of gas pressure switches, such as is described in DE-A1-34 25 633. In the known pressure gas switches, when switching off during the high current phase, pressure gas is generated using the switching arc and in a heating volume saved. When the current to be switched off approaches a zero crossing, the stored compressed gas draws energy from the switching arc by means of axial blowing and thus extinguishes it. Depending on the size of the current to be switched off, a considerable part of the compressed gas stored in the heating volume can be discharged through a switching piece designed as a nozzle into the exhaust area of the switch before the zero current. The larger the cross section of the nozzle, the greater the proportion of compressed gas removed from the heating volume. However, the nozzle cross-section is usually determined by certain boundary conditions, such as contact erosion, insulating nozzle erosion and / or size of the short-circuit current to be switched off. Therefore, the known gas pressure switch in the embodiment according to FIG. 3 has a further constriction downstream of the nozzle constriction of the nozzle-shaped switching element. This further constriction closes off a volume limited by the upstream part of the switching element, which supports the heating power of the switching arc when switched off and causes an increase in pressure in the heating volume. However, such a switch does not have optimal thermal extinguishing capacity which is dependent on turbulence at the edge of the arc, since the switching arc is no longer conducted through the narrowest point of the compressed gas flow at which the turbulence at the edge of the arc is maximum.
The invention, as defined in claim 1, solves the problem of specifying a pressure gas switch which is characterized by a high pressure build-up in the heating volume and a large thermal extinguishing capacity. The compressed gas switch according to the invention is distinguished by a large short-circuit current carrying capacity and a high thermal extinguishing capacity. On the one hand, this is due to the fact that large short-circuit currents can be conducted because of the suitably constructed switching element which acts as an extinguishing nozzle and at the same time an outflow of the compressed gas generated by the switching arc the exhaust area is largely avoided. On the other hand, this is also due to the fact that when the current to be switched off approaches a zero crossing, the switching element, which acts as an extinguishing nozzle, exhibits optimal fluidic behavior.
From EP-B1-0 028 039 a compressed gas switch with a multi-part extinguishing current contact designed to discharge extinguishing gas is known. This quenching current contact contains an erosion ring arranged on a contact carrier for receiving a base point of the switching arc and a ring of contact fingers axially displaceable in the contact carrier under the action of a spring for guiding the current to be switched off when the quenching current contacts are closed. In this switch, however, the contact fingers forming a constriction of the extinguishing current contact are only intended to avoid contact bouncing when switched on. The constriction of the extinguishing current contact has an unfavorable fluidic structure, so that this switch does not produce high edge turbulence. In addition, with this switch, the switching arc should not pass through the narrowest part causing the greatest arc edge turbulence.

- Fig. 2 is a plan view of a cut in the axial direction contact arrangement of a second embodiment of the pressure gas switch according to the invention.
In the embodiment of the compressed gas switch according to the invention shown in FIG. 1, there is a fixed contact 1 with a nominal
In the
In the switched-on state, the two
When switching off, the
Compared to a comparable switch without an axially displaceable, tubular body which forms a nozzle constriction and is made of erosion-resistant material, the switch according to the invention has the advantage on the one hand that the diameter of the
With regard to its extinguishing properties, this switch corresponds to the switch according to FIG. 1, but, in contrast to this, does not require a spring and can be easily adjusted to the pressure to be expected in the
