Description

The present invention relates to an assembly for lighting and supplying a fireplace and to its method of use.

The development of solid fuel consumption in domestic households is increasingly marred by:
  • 1) its mode of distribution, at home, usually involving a presence at the time of delivery.
  • 2) the need to allocate part of the habitat for its storage and also for that of the priming fuel (generally wood) and to have an ignition device (generally paper).
  • 3) the obligation of numerous and messy manipulations, the quantities delivered never being in correlation with the quantity necessary for the loading of the hearth.

The evolution of our way of life and housing has led the Company to:
  • 1) supply itself from distribution centers for an increased share of current consumer products or services.
  • 2) adapt the storage inherent in heating the family home according to budgetary, architectural or technical imperatives.
  • 3) look for automated heating modes, serving as a basis for the entire family home but supplemented by devices recreating a certain "ambiance" or pure and simple backup.

The present invention corresponds to these different aspirations by the fact that its presentation corresponds to:
  • 1) und possible distribution by shopping centers, the product being presentable and removable by individuals in these centers.
  • 2) simplification of storage, the product being supplied as and when needed and easy to handle and clean.
  • 3) a practical manual, the product containing all the elements allowing it to be self-igniting and in a quantity corresponding to the use during an evening (for example from 18 to 22 H) of the hearth.

To this end, the subject of the invention is an assembly of the aforementioned type, notably characterized in that, in addition to the solid fuel, the packaging contains a priming fuel and an ignition device.

It also relates to the method of using this set.

The invention will be better understood with the aid of the description below given by way of nonlimiting example with regard to the appended drawing which represents:
  • -Figure 1: sectional view, the assembly according to the invention being represented on its bottom (at the place)
  • -Figure 2: the assembly according to the invention arranged in a hearth (in section), according to the method of use.

Figure imgb0001

Referring to the drawing, the product which is the subject of the patent is made up of an assembly for lighting and supplying a hearth consisting of the following elements:
- solid fuel (1), which comprises at least one of the products that are coal, petroleum coke, or a mixture of these elements making it possible to enhance the intrinsic qualities of one or the other (example: petroleum coke has good flammability).

example:
45% anthracite
55% low-sulfur petroleum coke

The quantity of solid fuel (1) corresponds to the use during an evening (for example from 6 to 10 p.m.) of the fireplace; tests have shown that to satisfy this characteristic, this quantity is between 3 and 7 Kg. (depending on the stove and the heating rate).

example: 5 Kg.

The method of filling the packaging (5) will be such that the solid fuel (1) has an upper surface in the form of a crucible intended to receive the priming fuel (2) therein. On the other hand, the method of using the assembly means that the assembly is placed in the hearth at a distance and inclined substantially at 45 ° to the bottom of the hearth and that the packaging is ignited ( 5) in line with the ignition device (4). The method of using the set will be clearly indicated on the packaging (5). After the firing of the packaging (5) and the disappearance of the mechanical support that this packaging (5) provided to the elements, the combination of the two points mentioned above allows the solid fuel (1) to flow by gravity in half crown at the back and on the sides of the priming fuel (2). In the absence of these two points, the solid fuel (1) would simply cover the starting fuel (2) after ignition and the chances of self-ignition would be compromised by lack of oxygen arrival near the fuel d priming (2).
Another consequence of the method of use is to avoid overflow of the crucible of the foyet at the time of ignition. The humidity of the solid fuel (1) will have a maximum content of 3%.
The fines content of the solid fuel (1) will be of the same order of magnitude as for the packages already known.
The size will be chosen based on market availability and the sizes recommended for domestic households.

example: 20/30

At the time of filling, the solid fuel (1) will be placed at the bottom of the packaging (5).
- the priming fuel (2) of the solid fuel (1), whether wood or any other material allowing the final combustion of the solid fuel (1).
The quantity will be related to the power and the need for priming of the elements present.

example:
- White wood
- cut into pieces of +/- 2 X 3 X 12 cm
- maximum humidity: 3%
- quantity: 0.8 Kg

At the time of filling, the priming fuel (2) will be placed in the crucible above the solid fuel (1).
- the ignition device, consisting of several sheets of non-glazed "newspaper" type paper put into balls (3) and a few fire starters (4). The paper balls (3) are arranged, at the time of filling, along the length of the packaging (5) and above the priming fuel (2). The paper balls (3) have the secondary role of avoiding tearing of the packaging (5) when stacking the packaging (5) on pallets.
A middle ball (3) contains a few fire starters (4), for example formed from small cubes impregnated with an easily flammable product (such as a petroleum product, paraffin, etc.).
This arrangement keeps the fire starters (4) always in place in the packaging (5) during its normal handling, which guarantees their ignition as soon as the packaging (5) is ignited.
The purpose of fire starters is to guarantee self-ignition in the event of:
- bad draft (wet chimney)
- lack of oxygen (air valve not set to maximum)
- packaging having been subjected to too much manipulation and where the elements would no longer have their original arrangement.
- packaging (5) per bag or box including:
- the dimensions make distribution, handling and introduction into domestic homes easy.

example:
length: 35 cm
width: 15 cm
height: 30 cm

- the form, the following ratio of which is less than 0.7:
Figure imgb0001
Linked to the filling mode, this shape avoids overflow of the hearth crucible at the time of firing.
- The material constituting the packaging (5) will be easily flammable and capable of mechanically holding the elements (1) + (2) + (3) + (4) in place. It will have good resistance to humidity and may receive by any process, the information necessary for the process of use and required by marketing.

example: two-ply kraft paper such as that sold under the reference WSn ° 780 by SEMOULIN (B)
The packaging (5) will be dustproof; it will be closed by gluing, sewing or welding (6).
When the packaging (5) is presented on its bottom (at the place), the components are arranged there from bottom to top as follows:

- solid fuel (1)
- priming fuel (2)
- the ignition device (3) + (4)

The product which is the subject of the patent is particularly but not exclusively intended for use in inserts or cassettes (fireplaces loading from the front).
