Definitions

  • the present invention relates to quick connection devices for printed circuits for modular housings, for example housings for modular electrical devices.
  • connection to the distribution or control conductors is carried out by means of cage terminals accessible by openings suitably arranged in the housing, the clamping of the conductor in the cage terminal generally carried out by means of a screw, screwed into the cage.
  • a short terminal extension is soldered against a conductive pad of the printed circuit board, either directly or via a conductor, which requires the execution of delicate solderings in square.
  • the present invention therefore proposes to provide a quick connection device for a printed circuit for modular boxes which allows simple, fast and reliable connection of conductors to a printed circuit located in the modular box.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide such a quick connection device which allows connection under conditions which do not in any way modify the habits relating to the connection of conductors to modular boxes.
  • connection device which does not require any transformation of the design or the production of modular housings for existing devices.
  • Yet another objective is to produce such a device which is simple to manufacture and to assemble and particularly inexpensive.
  • the subject of the invention is a device for rapid connection of printed circuits for modular housings, characterized in that the housing comprises, in usual housings, common cage connection terminals, and, for at least one of said terminals, a member of electrical connection constituted by a contact blade, one end of which penetrates into the terminal cage and the other end of which, after a path obtained by folding and / or cutting the blade properly, forms a contact, preferably elastic, s' applying against a suitable contact surface of the printed circuit.
  • the blade end serving for contact with the printed circuit has a folded shape defining an elastic branch applying against the connection element or suitable surface of the printed circuit.
  • the connection surface of the printed circuit can be formed in any way, for example in the form of a conductive pad, in the form of a pad or in any other form.
  • the printed circuit is simply applied against the contact part, preferably elastic, of the end in question of the contact blade by the action of the housing cover when it is set up, simultaneously ensuring the holding in position of the printed circuit.
  • the blade end penetrating into the terminal can penetrate therefrom from the inside but can also, as a variant, pass into the housing under the terminal cage, then be folded, outside, around the cage to present a terminal part which penetrates there. In all the In this case, the clamping of the conductor which enters the terminal cage simultaneously ensures clamping and contact with the contact blade connected to the printed circuit.
  • the blade can be simply inserted into the housing, with its ends in place, without any means ensuring the positive connection of the blade to the housing, the blade being simply held by the engagement of one of its ends in the terminal, on the one hand, by the presence of the printed circuit against its other end, on the other hand, and possibly by a suitable shape matching the walls in relation to the housing whose closure ensures the definitive maintenance of the blade.
  • the contact end with the printed circuit instead of being elastic, may, for example, include cutouts, for example sawtooth, which will be crushed under the effect of pressure during assembly of the housing that maintains the printed circuit board.
  • the device thus produced has a very small footprint and allows a gain of active area on the printed circuit.
  • connection devices can be carried out in an extremely simple manner, for example by placing the modular box on a template, then placing at the bottom of the box a cage terminal holder assembly on which the terminals are preassembled with the blades in place, then presentation of the printed circuit which will self-center and ensure by pressure the physical contacts with the suitable ends of the blades, the final fixing being ensured by closing the housing.
  • FIG. 1 there is shown a modular housing shown schematically, the upper cover being removed.
  • This housing 1 has, in the usual way, a base 2 for hooking on a rail with the fixed hook part 3 and the movable hook 4 resiliently pushed back.
  • At the two ends of the base are arranged two terminal housings in which are arranged the metal cages 5 of terminals, these cages being accessible by lateral openings 6 for the introduction of electric cables, busbar connectors, etc. screwing takes place through the upper openings 7 of the housings.
  • a printed circuit board 8 is put in place which simply rests against the bottom of the case.
  • ribs of this cover are applied against the printed circuit 8 to keep it pressed in the bottom as shown.
  • FIGS. 2 to 4 we see a neighboring modular housing but of the type having, at each end of the base 2, two staggered stages, the lower stage having a pair of terminals and the upper stage a single terminal, and of which we see the cages 5 with their screws 9 taking the part 10 in a stirrup, usual in the cages of terminals.
  • the printed circuit board 8 is arranged against the bottom of the housing and it carries, at locations close to the relevant terminals, usual tinned copper bridges 11 forced into the printed circuit board 8 and electrically connected to the circuit of the card. These copper elements 11 constitute the pads by which the card must be electrically connected to the external electrical conductors.
  • the printed circuit board 8 is disposed parallel to one of the lateral faces of the housing 1, at a short distance from this face, and it can be seen that the various jumper-shaped studs 11 are arranged at the notches 12 formed. in the periphery of the printed circuit board in the vicinity of the terminals, the base of each stud 11, which extends parallel to the card, spanning its notch 12 so as to be accessible for contact. Instead of peripheral notches, the card could also have perforations.
  • Each of the terminals shown in the drawing has its own contact blade.
  • the contact blades are referenced 13, 14, 15. They are made of a conductive material, for example brass.
  • the blade 13 has a first flat end 13a which enters the housing of the relevant terminal 5 and passes through the cage of this terminal in the vicinity of the bottom of the cage.
  • the end 13a may advantageously have a T-shape, the branches of which, which prevent withdrawal from the cage 5 towards the inside of the housing, can penetrate recesses in the housing such as, for example, a groove 16, so to ensure positioning at the bottom of the cage while preferably allowing a certain amount of travel.
  • the blade 13 descends towards the base of the housing against which it travels until it approaches the stud 11 with which it must cooperate.
  • the end portion 13c forms an elastic strip penetrating into the notch 12 of the printed circuit board and being applied elastically, and in a direction perpendicular to the base of the pad 11 and substantially parallel to the plane of the card, against this base of the pad 11 which is accessible in the notch, thus ensuring electrical contact with the printed circuit board.
  • the contact blade 14 has a first end 14a, identical to that of the blade 13 and penetrating into the housing where it passes through the cage, the terminal part being widened in the manner of a T so as to be housed in the recesses 16, which prohibits extraction of the blade from the cage 5.
  • the contact blade 14 continues this time in a plane parallel to the axis of the terminal housing and extends up to come to form an end part at a right angle 14b, the end branch 14c of which is applied against the corresponding stud 11.
  • the contact blade 15 has a similar shape with one end 15a having exactly the same shape as the ends 13a and 14a of the other blades. At the outlet of the housing, the blade 15 extends upwards for a short distance before forming an end 15b offset to the side and the end branch 15c of which is applied elastically with the necessary contact force against the stud 11 relevant.
  • the shapes of the blades can be different depending on the paths extending between the cage of the relevant terminal and the relevant card pad.
  • the cages 5 of the terminals do not continue inward by conductors other than the contact blades 13, 14 or 15.
  • the connections to the electronic card will be made according to the invention, while those ensuring a link to a mechanism are made differently.
  • FIG. 5 we see an alternative embodiment in which the housing 1, which we see, in section, the bottom, is closed by a cover 1a provided with several ribs or reliefs 1b intended to hold the circuit board printed 8.
  • a contact blade 17 whose end (not shown) enters a terminal cage and has a shape which is preferably identical to that of the ends 13a, 14a and 15a.
  • the second end 17b is applied against the inner face of the housing 1 and has a spaced-apart portion 17c for the actual contact, the end of this portion 17c continuing with a short branch 17d which is again in contact with the housing 1
  • the cover 1a is closed, the ribs or reliefs 16 push the printed circuit board 8 perpendicularly to its plane and the studs 11 deform the conductive ends 17c of the blades 17.
  • the stud 11 can then advantageously be replaced by a conductive portion, or track, of the copper surface of the printed circuit.
  • Such a printed circuit board 8 does not need a notch.
