Definitions
- the invention relates to a suction pipe for vacuum die casting machines, with an upper pipe section connectable to the casting channel and a lower pipe section with an end region for immersion in molten aluminum.
- suction pipe designs have been used so far in which the suction pipe consists of a metal pipe which is lined with ceramic inside. This is necessary because steel itself is not a material that is resistant to liquid aluminum, ie when steel and liquid aluminum come together, chemical components remove the steel from certain components.
- the inner lining of the metallic suction tube by a ceramic tube alone is not sufficient, since the lower end of the suction tube must dip into the aluminum melt with its end area and the aluminum in the immersion area comes into contact with the outer surface of the suction tube.
- suction pipes are therefore also provided at the end of their lower pipe section with a correspondingly shaped protective sleeve made of ceramic, which covers the lower pipe section of the suction pipe in a protective manner like a cap in the entire immersion area (and somewhat beyond this) and on the underside of the suction pipe also intervenes in the opening area to provide a direct connection to the End of the ceramic inner lining of the metal pipe.
- a correspondingly shaped protective sleeve made of ceramic, which covers the lower pipe section of the suction pipe in a protective manner like a cap in the entire immersion area (and somewhat beyond this) and on the underside of the suction pipe also intervenes in the opening area to provide a direct connection to the End of the ceramic inner lining of the metal pipe.
- the object of the invention is to improve such a suction pipe in such a way that a particularly rapid and also inexpensive replacement of the lower pipe section intended for immersion in the aluminum melt is possible.
- the lower pipe section consists of a material or pipe which is resistant to aluminum melt and is detachably fastened to the upper pipe section.
- the lower pipe section consists of a ceramic or a suitable asbestos-containing material, but it can equally preferably also be made of a heat-resistant glass or even a noble metal. Silicon nitride, silicon carbide, silicon oxide, circonium oxide or aluminum nitride have proven to be very particularly suitable materials for the formation of the lower tube section.
- the suction pipe according to the invention thus has a lower pipe section with an end region which is intended for immersion in the aluminum melt and which no longer - as before - consists of a composite construction of steel and various ceramic parts, but instead only consists of a single part that is resistant to molten aluminum.
- this lower pipe section is already much cheaper and easier to manufacture than the composite construction according to the prior art and can also be easily replaced by using a detachable fastening on the upper pipe section.
- the division of the entire suction pipe construction into two pipe sections detachably connected to each other makes it possible for the first time to be able to replace the lower section immersed in the aluminum melt quickly and easily.
- this lower pipe section is generally a relatively short pipe section in comparison to the entire pipe length and is also predominantly immersed in the molten metal, the disadvantage of a relatively low strength and impact sensitivity of, for example, suitable ceramic materials for the formation of this does not occur so strong in appearance, because in this section in particular the mechanical loads are comparatively lower than in the upper pipe section, which is much more likely to have an impact load or similar. can occur.
- the length of the second pipe section made of the material resistant to molten aluminum can be chosen so that, in addition to the end area immersed in the molten aluminum, only a small protrusion remains, so that an optimization of this pipe section is also possible.
- the intake manifold according to the invention has a clear, surprising improvement over the known intake manifolds, with the rapid interchangeability of the lower tube section, its simpler construction and the overall noticeably cheaper manufacture being particularly emphasized.
- a very preferred embodiment of the suction pipe according to the invention is that the lower pipe section at its end region facing the upper pipe section has a radial thickening on the outside, which can be placed against a corresponding receiving surface on the inside of the end region of the upper pipe section and against this by means of a End section of the upper pipe section screwed clamping sleeve can be clamped, a tapered seat of the two surfaces lying against one another being particularly preferably selected, ie the end region of the outer surface of the lower tube section tapers conically towards the end of the same and the inner contact surface in the end of the upper tube section is designed accordingly.
- the clamping surface of the clamping sleeve and the corresponding counter surface on the outside of the thickened section on the lower pipe section are also very particularly preferably conical, but here the taper is selected in the opposite direction than in the arrangement at the end of the lower pipe section. This allows a very effective, extremely quick to use, but at the same time quite simple and inexpensive to manufacture quick connection between the lower and the upper pipe section, which can be operated quickly even by inexperienced people.
- a seal is interposed between the end faces of the thickened section and the corresponding counter faces of the upper pipe section, this seal either being able to be arranged only between the radial end face of the pipe section and the corresponding counter face at the end of the upper pipe section, or entirely Particularly preferably, even beyond this purely radial extension, it also extends in a quasi-cap shape into the end region between the conical outer surface at the end of the thickened section and the corresponding counter surface at the upper pipe section, in the latter case even a corresponding small radial depression can be provided in the end region of the thickened section in order to avoid undesired squeezing of this seal, which is here turned over axially.
- a corresponding seal is located between the clamping surface of the clamping sleeve and the corresponding counter surface on the outer circumference of the thickened section is arranged.
- the upper pipe section preferably consists of a steel pipe which is lined on the inside with a material which is resistant to molten aluminum, the free inner cross section of this lining very particularly preferably matching the free inner cross section of the lower pipe section, so that a continuous inner suction duct of the same diameter is created over the entire length of the intake manifold.
- a section from a suction pipe according to the invention (in a sectional view) is shown in the region of the connection between the upper end of the lower and the lower end of the upper pipe section.
- the suction pipe consists essentially of two pipe sections, namely the upper pipe section 1, the lower end of which is shown in the figure, and a lower pipe section 3, of which the figure shows the upper end region.
- the lower tube section 3 dips with its other end region (no longer shown in the figure) into the aluminum melt of a holding furnace.
- the end region of the lower pipe section 3 facing the upper pipe section 1 is provided with a thickening 4, which on its radial outer circumference has two outer sections 5 and 8 arranged in opposite inclinations.
- the associated surfaces are each conical section-shaped, the outer surface 5 attached to the upper end of the lower tube section 3 tapering axially towards this end, while the other outer surface 8 axially towards the former is arranged offset from the upper end of the lower pipe section 3 and tapers in the opposite direction.
- This design leads to a shape of the thickening 4 at the end of the tube section 3, in which a maximum outer diameter is reached at a certain distance from the end thereof, from which the outer surface sloping conically in both axial directions gives off.
- the transition area between the two, in which this maximum outer diameter is formed can be rounded in a suitable manner, crowned or cylindrical over a short distance, which is at the discretion of the designer.
- a clamping nut or clamping sleeve 6 is screwed onto the end of the upper pipe section 1, with which the lower pipe section 3 can be detachably fastened to the upper pipe section 1 and braced against it.
- the clamping nut 6 as can be seen from the figure, consists of an upper, approximately cylindrical screw section 11, a lower section 12, within which a conical contact surface which widens into the interior of the clamping nut 6 is formed, and a central transition region 10 maximum diameter, which has such a shape that for tightening or loosening the clamping nut 6, for example can be applied with a tool. Suitable gripping surfaces for the tools (wrench or similar) are provided on the outside of the transition area 10.
- the upper tube section 1 consists of a metal tube in which an inner tube 2 made of ceramic is arranged.
- the lower tube section 3 is formed in one piece and consists only of a material which is resistant to liquid aluminum, whereby in particular ceramic materials, materials containing asbestos, silicon carbide or special ceramics (such as aluminum nitride), glass, even noble metal, among others, can be used.
- the upper end of the lower pipe section 3 is now, as shown in the figure, in the inner opening at the end of the upper pipe section 1 so long inserted until the end face of the lower pipe section 3 with seal 7 bears against the end face within the upper pipe section 1.
- the clamping nut 6 is brought from the underside of the lower pipe section 3 to the connection point, screwed with its fastening section 11 onto the external thread attached to the lower end of the upper pipe section 1, and the screwing process continues until the screw nut 6 at the lower end thereof Internally attached, conically widening clamping surface 8 ⁇ with the corresponding counter surface 8 on the outer circumference of the thickened section 4 of the lower pipe section 3 comes into tensioning arrangement. Between the surfaces 8 and 8 ⁇ a seal 9 is provided, as well as between the end of the lower pipe section 3 and the corresponding radial inner counter surface at the end of the upper pipe section 1, where a seal 7 is also interposed in the manner shown in the figure .
- This seal not only extends radially over the adjoining end surfaces of both pipe sections, but it is guided like a cap over a small distance into the end region of the conically tapering end section of the outer thickening 4, as can be seen from the figure , to which express reference is made.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a suction pipe for vacuum die casting machines, with an upper pipe section connectable to the casting channel and a lower pipe section with an end region for immersion in molten aluminum.
In the construction of suction pipes for vacuum die casting machines for casting aluminum alloys, suction pipe designs have been used so far in which the suction pipe consists of a metal pipe which is lined with ceramic inside. This is necessary because steel itself is not a material that is resistant to liquid aluminum, ie when steel and liquid aluminum come together, chemical components remove the steel from certain components. However, the inner lining of the metallic suction tube by a ceramic tube alone is not sufficient, since the lower end of the suction tube must dip into the aluminum melt with its end area and the aluminum in the immersion area comes into contact with the outer surface of the suction tube. For this purpose, known suction pipes are therefore also provided at the end of their lower pipe section with a correspondingly shaped protective sleeve made of ceramic, which covers the lower pipe section of the suction pipe in a protective manner like a cap in the entire immersion area (and somewhat beyond this) and on the underside of the suction pipe also intervenes in the opening area to provide a direct connection to the End of the ceramic inner lining of the metal pipe. In this way, the advantages of steel (insensitivity to impact and great strength) and those of ceramics (resistance to liquid aluminum) can be combined to form a suction pipe construction that can be used in practice.
Known suction pipes are, however, relatively complex to manufacture, particularly as regards the ceramic protective cap to be attached below, which in turn consists of various individual parts due to the structural conditions. If the need arises, this ceramic protective hood e.g. To have to renew, this is, if at all, only very labor-intensive, with the entire intake manifold often having to be replaced.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to improve such a suction pipe in such a way that a particularly rapid and also inexpensive replacement of the lower pipe section intended for immersion in the aluminum melt is possible.
According to the invention, this is achieved in the case of a suction pipe of the type mentioned at the outset in that the lower pipe section consists of a material or pipe which is resistant to aluminum melt and is detachably fastened to the upper pipe section. Preferably, the lower pipe section consists of a ceramic or a suitable asbestos-containing material, but it can equally preferably also be made of a heat-resistant glass or even a noble metal. Silicon nitride, silicon carbide, silicon oxide, circonium oxide or aluminum nitride have proven to be very particularly suitable materials for the formation of the lower tube section.
The suction pipe according to the invention thus has a lower pipe section with an end region which is intended for immersion in the aluminum melt and which no longer - as before - consists of a composite construction of steel and various ceramic parts, but instead only consists of a single part that is resistant to molten aluminum. As a result, this lower pipe section is already much cheaper and easier to manufacture than the composite construction according to the prior art and can also be easily replaced by using a detachable fastening on the upper pipe section. The division of the entire suction pipe construction into two pipe sections detachably connected to each other makes it possible for the first time to be able to replace the lower section immersed in the aluminum melt quickly and easily. Since this lower pipe section is generally a relatively short pipe section in comparison to the entire pipe length and is also predominantly immersed in the molten metal, the disadvantage of a relatively low strength and impact sensitivity of, for example, suitable ceramic materials for the formation of this does not occur so strong in appearance, because in this section in particular the mechanical loads are comparatively lower than in the upper pipe section, which is much more likely to have an impact load or similar. can occur. The length of the second pipe section made of the material resistant to molten aluminum can be chosen so that, in addition to the end area immersed in the molten aluminum, only a small protrusion remains, so that an optimization of this pipe section is also possible.
The intake manifold according to the invention has a clear, surprising improvement over the known intake manifolds, with the rapid interchangeability of the lower tube section, its simpler construction and the overall noticeably cheaper manufacture being particularly emphasized.
A very preferred embodiment of the suction pipe according to the invention is that the lower pipe section at its end region facing the upper pipe section has a radial thickening on the outside, which can be placed against a corresponding receiving surface on the inside of the end region of the upper pipe section and against this by means of a End section of the upper pipe section screwed clamping sleeve can be clamped, a tapered seat of the two surfaces lying against one another being particularly preferably selected, ie the end region of the outer surface of the lower tube section tapers conically towards the end of the same and the inner contact surface in the end of the upper tube section is designed accordingly. The clamping surface of the clamping sleeve and the corresponding counter surface on the outside of the thickened section on the lower pipe section are also very particularly preferably conical, but here the taper is selected in the opposite direction than in the arrangement at the end of the lower pipe section. This allows a very effective, extremely quick to use, but at the same time quite simple and inexpensive to manufacture quick connection between the lower and the upper pipe section, which can be operated quickly even by inexperienced people.
It is particularly advisable if a seal is interposed between the end faces of the thickened section and the corresponding counter faces of the upper pipe section, this seal either being able to be arranged only between the radial end face of the pipe section and the corresponding counter face at the end of the upper pipe section, or entirely Particularly preferably, even beyond this purely radial extension, it also extends in a quasi-cap shape into the end region between the conical outer surface at the end of the thickened section and the corresponding counter surface at the upper pipe section, in the latter case even a corresponding small radial depression can be provided in the end region of the thickened section in order to avoid undesired squeezing of this seal, which is here turned over axially.
Likewise, it is very particularly advantageous if a corresponding seal is located between the clamping surface of the clamping sleeve and the corresponding counter surface on the outer circumference of the thickened section is arranged. By providing the seals mentioned, it can be ensured very effectively by simple means that no tensioning of the suction pipe can occur.
In the suction pipe according to the invention, the upper pipe section preferably consists of a steel pipe which is lined on the inside with a material which is resistant to molten aluminum, the free inner cross section of this lining very particularly preferably matching the free inner cross section of the lower pipe section, so that a continuous inner suction duct of the same diameter is created over the entire length of the intake manifold.
The invention is explained in more detail below in principle by way of example with reference to the drawing.
In the figure, a section from a suction pipe according to the invention (in a sectional view) is shown in the region of the connection between the upper end of the lower and the lower end of the upper pipe section.
The suction pipe consists essentially of two pipe sections, namely the
As can be seen from the figure, the end region of the
A clamping nut or
The

Thereafter, the
If the
