Description

The invention relates to a folding box made of cardboard with four side walls, a lid part formed from lid flaps and with hinged bottom flaps, wherein runners are formed in the bottom from long side to long side, which form spaces for retracting forklift tines.

Such a folding box is previously known from DE 21 28 214 A1. This folding box is used to hold goods and is intended to be stiffened by the skid-shaped design in the bottom. For this purpose, very long bottom flaps are provided in the blank, which are hinged to the short side walls. These bottom flaps are either rolled up into rectangular cylinders by a multitude of fold lines or folded in such a way that the skids are created. If necessary, the bottom flaps can be connected to an insert which forms a further runner.

From DE 27 29 265 A1 it is known to provide the skids primarily not for stiffening the floor, but for transporting the container by means of forklifts.

The invention is based on the finding that folding boxes of the type mentioned at the outset are in connection with the second placement of goods. The second placement of goods in a self-service shop means the arrangement of goods at points of sale, for example near cash registers, outside the shelf areas provided for these goods (first placement). For the second placement of goods, packaging containers must be provided, which can preferably be placed on the floor and which can form the sales offer for themselves. It is often not desirable to place the goods directly on the floor, since this means that the customers have to bend very low to remove the last goods.

The invention is based on the object of designing a folding box of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be transported using conventional lifting devices, for example forklifts, and manufactured in automated production.

This object is achieved with a folding box of the type mentioned at the outset in that a reinforcing insert, which extends over the height of the folding box and protrudes into the runners, that flaps hinged to bottom flaps rest on vertically standing sections of the runners and that the runners pass through above open cartons are formed, which are placed over the lugs and the tabs on the bottom flaps attached to them and are connected to the floor via their upper peripheral edge.

The folding box according to the invention is therefore generally not used to hold the goods, but only as a kind of pallet with a spacer to the floor, through which the goods are only contained and presented in packaging arranged above the folding box. The mechanical producibility with conventional mechanical manufacturing methods results from the fact that a conventional cardboard box is used which only has specially punched-out and folded bottom flaps. The insert preferably consists of flat cardboard layers, which stand upright between the bottom and the lid part of the folding box, lugs of the flat cardboard layers protruding into the upwardly open runners. The cardboard layers of the insert, which are suitably interlocked with each other, transfer the force exerted on the lid part of the folding box to the bottom of the folding box and thus the standing area which receives the folding box.

In a preferred embodiment, the approaches are set back from the wall of the folding box casing by at least the wall thickness of the cardboard. This ensures that the runners do not protrude beyond the circumference of the folding box shell and are generally flush with the outer walls of the folding box shell.

In a preferred embodiment, the approaches to the long sides of the box have a U-shaped frame with a recessed wall that fills the frame. A bottom flap engages in the U-shaped frame and rests against the wall with an end piece that is bent downwards. The length of the bottom flap is preferably dimensioned such that it ends at the wall of the frame forming the bottom of the U and thus produces a relative locking between the insert and the folding box shell, which prevents the insert from moving upward relative to the folding box shell.

In a very suitable embodiment there are tabs on the outer walls of the vertical legs of the U-shaped frame which are bent off from the bottom flaps which form the bottom of the folding box jacket between the runners.
