Description
Seitengewehre. The invention relates to an adventure knife or the like with the features of the preamble of
Knives of this type have to be re-sharpened from time to time in order to maintain the functionality of the knife.
For this purpose, it is known to equip the adventure knife or the like with a grindstone which is in a receptacle attached to or on the cutting edge and can be removed if necessary. However, since the sharpening stone is a separate part, it can fall off during or after use, be put down incorrectly or simply get lost, so that it is not guaranteed that the cutting edge of the blade of the knife can always be re-sharpened if necessary, even if no special tools are used or other aids are available.
In addition, the use of a separate grindstone housed in a container provided on the sheath of the knife is cumbersome and uncomfortable because the grindstone has to be removed from the flap with a flap closed container and taken out by hand over the cutting edge of the blade. Since the grindstone is relatively small, it can only be held with difficulty. Therefore, in the case of adventure knives or the like equipped in this way, the necessary regrinding of the blade is often omitted, so that the blade is often blunt in spite of the existing regrinding possibility.
In a known knife (DE-B-1 274 476), a grinding stone is permanently arranged on the outside of the sheath as a grinding device. Both in the permanently arranged on the sheath and in the previously described grinding stones only added to the knife, it happens that in the open pores of these grinding stones, dirt and grease can settle over time, which close the pores, thereby reducing the grinding ability and grinding performance be significantly reduced.
Another known knife (US-A-4 326 652) describes a grinding plate which is fastened to a carrier through which a belt can be inserted and which can consist of a material with embedded diamonds. However, it has been shown that sharpening the knife is cumbersome and uncomfortable because the grindstone or grinding plate is again small and there is no separate handle for holding the grinding plate, so that there is also a risk of injury.
The invention has for its object to provide an adventure knife or the like which has an inexpensive, easy-to-use and reliable or permanently effective grinding device for regrinding the cutting edge of the knife blade.
This task is in an adventure knife or the like of the type mentioned with the features of characterizing part of
The user of the adventure knife or the like can now sharpen the sheath of the knife blade quickly and effectively because good and effective contact between the abrasive layer and the blade to be sharpened is ensured. The abrasive layer is attached to one end of the sheath, so that the sheath corresponds to a handle with a relatively long lever arm for the grinding process.
In addition, the abrasive layer to be provided according to the invention hardly protrudes over the surface of the scabbard of the adventure knife or the like and thus does not interfere with normal use or with normal wearing of the knife. In contrast to a pore-containing grindstone, an abrasive layer to be provided according to the invention has the advantage that it does not contain any pores or similar openings, which can settle with body fat, dirt or impurities, so that the grinding action of the grinding device to be provided according to the invention also in rough field operation, where The effects of dirt and sludge cannot be avoided and cannot be impaired.
Furthermore, it is possible in this way to permanently connect the grinding device to the sheath in a simple and inexpensive manner. Here is a paragraphless Transition into the surface of the scabbard possible, ie there are no sharp edges or transitions that could lead to tearing or breaking of the abrasive coating.
According to the invention, the abrasive layer can be provided on the inside of the scabbard, because it then normally rests on the body of the wearer of the adventure knife or the like and is therefore little exposed to environmental influences and in particular the influence of dirt.
Another advantage of the invention is that crystals or crystal splinters made of corundum sapphire and / or diamond are used as the grinding material, which are anchored in a carrier layer, for example made of nickel. Accordingly, there are no pores that can become clogged by grease or other dirt.
The crystal splinters or crystal bodies can break off due to use or due to other signs of wear, but new edges and / or tips are always created which have the desired grinding effect. Any dirt particles that may settle between the individual crystals or crystal splinters or grinding wheel parts do not remain there permanently and in particular do not interfere with the grinding action of the grinding wheel.
The invention provides an adventure knife or a knife suitable for hunting or military purposes, which is equipped with a very simple, but extremely effective and durable grinding device, so that the cutting edge of the knife can be sharpened or sharpened easily and effectively at any time. For this purpose it is only necessary to take the knife in one hand and the sheath in the other hand and to sharpen the cutting edge over the To carry out abrasive coating. Both parts, namely knife and sheath, form a relatively long lever arm to the interacting sections, namely the blade and the abrasive coating, so that the regrinding or sharpening of the cutting force can be carried out fully and thus effectively.
- Figure 1
- a view of the back of the adventure knife, that is, the side that is worn on the body, and
- Figure 2
- a cross-section of the scabbard of the adventure knife according to line II - II of Figure 1, wherein the abrasive layer attached to the back of the scabbard is shown exaggeratedly large or thick for better visibility.
The adventure knife (1) consists essentially of the actual knife (2) and a sheath (3), in the inner opening (4) of which the blade (5) of the knife (2) can be inserted, while the handle (6) outside the scabbard (3) remains and when the knife (2) is inserted, the booklet lies as a kind of stop on the top of the scabbard (3).
On the back of the scabbard (3), a holder (8) is attached at the upper end, with which the scabbard (3) can be attached to a belt, for example, in order to be able to carry the adventure knife (1) on a user's body.
At the upper end of the sheath (3) there is a strip-shaped abrasive layer (10) on the back of the sheath in a limited zone (9), which consists of an embedding medium (11) directly attached to the sheath and abrasive grains (12) embedded therein, for example Crystals or crystal splinters is formed.
The abrasive layer (10) is attached to the upper end and on the back of the sheath (3). Do you want the edge of the blade (5) Regrinding or sharpening the knife (2), take the knife (2) by the handle (6) in one hand and the sheath (3) in the other hand, pull the knife (2) out of the sheath and guide the cutting edge the blade (5) over the abrasive layer (10). Both the knife (2) and the sheath (3) can be held comfortably without the hands being able to get into the area of the abrasive layer (10) or the blade (5) to be sharpened. Thus, not only are there favorable lever arms for powerful regrinding or sharpening of the blade, but there is also no risk of injury because the user does not have to touch the grinding device directly.
The abrasive layer (10) does not contain any pores or other openings in which dirt or other impurities settle and can thereby render the abrasive grains ineffective. The abrasive grains (12) are expediently crystals or crystal chips, which can consist of corundum, sapphire, diamond or mixtures of these types of crystals.
The abrasive grains (12) are arranged in the embedding medium (11) in such a way that pointed and / or sharp edges of the embedded crystals always protrude from the embedding medium and thus form an overall jagged grinding profile.
The embedding medium (11) is nickel in the embodiment shown and was applied galvanically to the sheath (3), so that there are no sharp shoulders or edges at the edges of the abrasive layer (10). Rather, the abrasive layer gradually merges into the surface of the sheath (3), as shown in Figure 2.
