Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a percussion device for a firearm, in particular for revolvers or pistols, making it possible to adapt to two ammunition of different calibers, and more particularly to two ammunition, one of which is with central percussion and the other is with annular percussion.
  • the change of ammunition implies either a change of the barrel itself for the weapons with interchangeable barrel, or the use of a reducing tube, introduced in the barrel of origin and usually fixed with a stirrup.
  • Mechanisms of this type have many drawbacks, the most serious of which is the risk of blocking the barrel: in fact, upon percussion, the primer or the base of the casing can penetrate the bent light by swelling , this swelling then risking blocking the rotation of the barrel.
  • Another drawback lies in the fact that the striker rotation maneuver is carried out by acting from the outside directly on said striker, so that this maneuver can be carried out on a loaded weapon, with the risk of accident that this entails .
  • such mechanisms have a complex structure involving delicate assembly operations.
  • the object of the invention is to propose a percussion device for a firearm making it possible to pass easily and safely from a central percussion to an annular percussion, the structure of which is simple and offers great reliability.
  • the invention aims to propose a percussion device mounted on the carcass of the revolver, and authorizing the use of conventional barrels with reduced axial rectilinear chambers.
  • the invention aims to propose a percussion device mounted on the breech of the pistol, and making it possible to keep the same breech for the two types of ammunition used.
  • the cylindrical seat has a transverse hole, the central part of which opens into the stepped cylindrical recess of said seat, said transverse hole serving to receive the stop member of the striker; in particular, the stop member is a pin passing through a notch of the striker.
  • the cylindrical seat has a peripheral groove, a part of which opens into the stepped cylindrical recess of said seat, said peripheral groove serving to receive the stop member of the striker.
  • the stop member is an elastic ring, a portion of which passes through a notch of the striker; in particular, the elastic rod has substantially the shape of a horseshoe, with a straight central branch passing through the notch of the striker.
  • the striker notch has a bottom extending to the rear end of the striker, or a rear edge defining a bottom whose length is slightly greater than the axial stroke of said striker.
  • the striker comprises a main cylindrical body extending forward towards a rod of percussion, the notch of the striker being formed on said main body; in particular, a spring surrounds the portion of the percussion rod of the striker which is inside the enlarged part of the stepped cylindrical recess of the seat.
  • the locking member of the cylindrical seat is a screw received in a thread passing through the carcass or the breech of the weapon, and the end of which bears against the seat for locking of said seat in one or other of the two positions thereof.
  • the cylindrical seat presents externally two flat lateral facets, against one or the other of which can be applied the head of a flat head screw, or two conical recesses, in one or the other of which can be received the head of a needle screw.
  • the shoulder which constitutes the front end of the cylindrical seat has two peripheral notches to allow the rotation of said cylindrical seat to be carried out using an associated tool.
  • a revolver comprising a carcass 1, a sleeve or sheath 2, and a barrel 3, the rear end of which is screwed onto the carcass 1.
  • This is a revolver of the interchangeable barrel type, that is to say one for which a set of several barrels and associated barrels is provided making it possible to modify the caliber and / or the length of the barrel, but it goes without saying that the invention does is by no means limited to this type of firearm as will become clear from the remainder of the description.
  • the revolver is equipped with a barrel 4, the axial chambers 5 of which receive ammunition such as the bullet 6 of the central percussion type; it could for example be ammunition of 7.65 mm or 9 mm caliber.
  • the barrel 3 is replaced by a barrel 3 ′ adapted to the caliber of this new ammunition, likewise for the barrel which is replaced by a barrel 4 ′ whose chambers 5 ′ Can receive 6 ′ ammunition, such as for example a 22 caliber Long Rifle ammunition (about 5.5 mm).
  • a reducing tube (not shown here) threaded inside the barrel if it is a revolver which is not of the interchangeable barrel type.
  • the revolver thus equipped with the barrel 3 ′ and the barrel 4 ′ is illustrated in FIG. 1B.
  • the percussion device also includes a striker 11 capable of sliding in a stepped cylindrical recess 12 of the seat 7; the axis 13 of the striker 11 is parallel to the axis of rotation 9 of the cylindrical seat, but it is offset with respect thereto.
  • the striker 11 comprises a cylindrical main body 14 extending forwardly by a percussion rod 15.
  • a stop member which is here a cylindrical pin 16 mounted transversely in the cylindrical seat 7, stop member against which the striker 11 is held in abutment in the retracted position (that shown in FIGS.
  • the pin 16 is housed in a transverse hole 18, the central part of which opens into the stepped cylindrical recess 12 of the seat 7, as is better visible in the detail of FIG. 3A.
  • the pin 16 passes through a notch 19 of the striker 11, said notch having here a bottom extending to the rear end of the striker. It goes without saying that one could provide a notch having a rear edge defining a bottom whose length is slightly greater than the axial stroke of the striker but, taking into account the space resulting from the cylindrical stop pin 16, it is simpler to provide a notch bottom opening in the manner of a flat, as shown in Figures 1A and 1B. So, the striker 11 is, in its natural position, in abutment against the pin 16; at the time of percussion, the striker leaves its support, and the percussion rod 15 strikes the base of the ammunition projecting from the front face of the cylindrical seat 7.
  • the seat of the percussion device can occupy two basic positions, one being assigned to central percussion ( Figure 1A), while the other is assigned to annular percussion ( Figure 1B).
  • Figure 1A central percussion
  • Figure 1B annular percussion
  • the cylindrical seat 7 has two planar lateral facets 20 on the outside, against one or the other of which can be applied the head of a flat head screw 21.
  • the front end of the cylindrical seat 7 is in the form of a shoulder 22 received in an associated circular recess formed in the carcass 1 of the weapon. It is then interesting to provide that the shoulder 22 has two peripheral notches 23, only visible in FIGS. 2A and 2B, to allow the rotation of the cylindrical seat 7 using an associated tool, such as than a lug wrench.
  • FIGS. 4A, 5A and 6A illustrate such possible variants.
  • the percussion device thus comprises a cylindrical seat 24 which differs from the seat 7 in that it comprises a peripheral groove 25, a part of which opens into the stepped cylindrical recess 30 of said seat, said peripheral groove serving to receive the abutment member 26 of the striker, which here is an elastic rod, a central portion of which passes through a notch 27 of the striker 28.
  • abutment member 26 of the striker which here is an elastic rod, a central portion of which passes through a notch 27 of the striker 28.
  • the elastic rod 26 has substantially the shape of an iron horse, with a straight central branch 29 passing through the notch 27 of the striker 28.
  • the notch 27 of the striker 28 has a rear edge 31 (FIG. 6A) defining a bottom of notch whose length is slightly greater than the axial stroke of said striker.
  • the striker 28 comprises a main body 32 cylindrical, extending forwardly by a percussion rod 33, the notch 27 of said striker being formed on said main body.
  • the cylindrical seat 24 has two conical recesses 34 on the outside (only one shown here), in one or the other of which can be received the head of a needle screw 35. It is preferable that these reception cones are provided sufficiently distant from the groove receiving the elastic ring, for example towards the middle of the cylindrical seat. Such a variant makes it possible to avoid the machining of lateral facets on the cylindrical seat.
  • FIGS. 4A, 5A and 6A illustrate a revolver whose percussion device is in position corresponding to a central percussion.
  • the operator can switch to annular percussion by dismantling the barrel and the barrel, by unscrewing the needle screw 35, by turning the cylindrical seat 24 by 180 °. by means of a lug wrench, by tightening the screw 35, and finally by reassembling the barrel and the barrel corresponding to the new caliber.
  • the invention applies to weapons with interchangeable barrel or using reducing tubes, but is not in any way limited to barrel revolvers.
  • the percussion device of the invention finds an extremely advantageous application in the equipment of pistols, as will be described with reference to FIGS. 7A and 8A, and 7B and 8B.
  • a pistol breech 36 with a carcass 37 at the front part inside which is disposed the barrel 38 adapted for ammunition with central percussion 39.
  • a cylindrical seat 40 rotatably mounted in a bore 41 of the breech of the pistol and whose axis of rotation 42 is parallel to the axis of the barrel of said pistol.
  • a striker 43 which can slide in a stepped cylindrical recess 44 of the cylindrical seat 40, the axis 45 of which is parallel to the axis of rotation 42 of the said seat but offset with respect thereto.
  • a stop member 46 mounted transversely in the cylindrical seat 40, and against which the striker 43 is held in abutment in the retracted position by a spring 47.
  • a locking member 48 mounted transversely in the breech of the weapon, and capable of locking the cylindrical seat 40 in one or the other of two positions thereof, corresponding to a central percussion or to an annular percussion.
  • the member 48 is here a needle screw cooperating with conical recesses formed on the outer surface of the cylindrical seat 40, but it goes without saying that one could provide a flat head screw cooperating with one or the other. 'other of two flat side facets formed externally on the cylindrical seat.
  • the main body of the striker 43 has a notch 49 through which the transverse pin 46 passes, which notch has a rear edge defining a bottom whose length is slightly greater than the axial stroke of said striker. It goes without saying that one could also provide a notch having a bottom extending to the rear end of the striker, as illustrated in FIGS. 1A and 1B, but it is preferable to use a non-opening notch for better sealing and better mechanical resistance of the part, knowing that the striker is, for a pistol, significantly longer than for a revolver.
