Description

  • The present invention relates to a sealed container for containing milk, juice or the like.
  • Such sealed containers heretofore known include those in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped and prepared from a sheet of paper-base laminate having a thermoplastic resin layer on each surface thereof by folding and joining the required portions of the laminate. The container has problems. The contents filling the container are liable to bulge the body of the container, while the container easily collapses when subjected to a force acting thereon from above or below.
  • The main object of the present invention is to provide a sealed container free of the above problems.
  • The invention provides an approximately rectangular parallelepipedal sealed container made of a paper-base laminate and having a quadrilateral top wall, a quadrilateral bottom wall parallel to the top wall, and four side walls integral with the four sides of each of the top and bottom walls. The joint portion between each two adjacent side walls of the four side walls has two ridgelines interconnecting the vertically opposed pair of corners of the top and bottom walls at the upper and lower ends of the joint portion, the two ridgelines being joined to each other at the upper and lower ends.
  • According to the invention, two ridgelines are provided between each two adjacent side walls of the four side walls to interconnect the corresponding pair of corners of the top and bottom walls which corners are opposed to each other vertically, so that the container is resistant to pressure vertically against collapsing. Although the two ridgelines are joined to each other at their upper and lower ends, the lines are spaced apart between these ends. This gives the container higher resistance to collapsing.
    • Fig. 1 is a perspective view showing an embodiment of the invention; and
    • Figs. 2 to 4 are views in section taken along the line II-II, the line III-III and the line IV-IV, respectively, in Fig. 1.
  • An embodiment of the invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
  • The sealed container of the invention is formed in the same manner as the conventional container already described above and has a main body 11 and two triangular ears 12 provided at each of the upper and lower ends of the main body. Of the upper and lower triangular ears 12, the lower ones are not shown. The container main body 11 comprises a top wall 13 and a bottom wall 14, each in the form of a laterally elongated rectangle, and front and rear and lateral side walls 15 to 18. The two upper triangular ears 12 are integral with the two ridgelines which extend in the front-to-rear direction and at which the top wall 13 meets the opposed lateral side walls 17, 18. These ears 12 are folded over and secured to the respective lateral walls 17, 18. Although not shown, the two lower triangular ears 12 are integral with the two ridgelines which extend in the front-to-rear direction and at which the bottom wall 14 meets the lateral side walls 17, 18. The lower ears 12 are folded over and secured to the bottom wall 14. A lateral seal seam 19 produced when the container is formed extends over the top wall 13 and the two upper ears 12. A vertical seal seam 20 produced when the container is formed extends over the rear side wall 15 and the top wall 13. The joint portion between each two adjacent walls of the front, rear and lateral four side walls 15 to 18 is formed with two ridgelines 21 interconnecting the corresponding pair of corners of the top and bottom walls 13, 14 which corners are vertically opposed to each other. The two ridgelines 21 are joined to each other at their upper and lower ends but are spaced apart from each other between these ends. The ridgelines 21 extend smoothly as curved inwardly of the container to form a joint wall 22 therebetween. As seen in Fig. 2, the joint wall 22 has a straight cross section but an inwardly bulging arcuate vertical section.
