- il est monobloc et présente, en développé, la forme générale de la partie du corps à protéger, c'est-à-dire qu'il présente les reliefs et les creux qui lui permettent d'épouser parfaitement ladite partie du corps;
- il est souple, grace à une réalisation composite à partir de deux compositions élastomériques de modules différents,
- l'une, de module élevé, constituant la peau externe qui assure la protection contre les chocs, l'autre, de module plus faible, constutuant la doublure interne, en contact avec la peau de la partie du corps protégée.

- il comporte, sur la face externe et au voisinage du bord opposé à celui de la (ou des) sangle(s) d'accrochage, un (ou plusieurs) bossage(s) destiné(s) au montage mécanique de la (ou des) boucle(s) de fermeture;
- il est équipé, sur la face interne, dans la partie centrale, d'un protecteur, réalisé dans une composition élastomérique souple, qui joue le rôle d'amortisseur de chocs et évite la transmission de ces chocs à la partie du corps protégée.

  • - la figure 4 présente, en coupe longitudinale, c'est-à-dire le long d'une génératrice, le protecteur au niveau de l'amortisseur interne;

- il ne peut blesser ou irriter la peau de la partie du corps protégée puisqu'il comporte une doublure interne faite d'une composition élastomérique à bas module et, au niveau des sangles d'accrochage, une languette de recouvrement qui évite tout contact des boucles de fermeture, rigides, avec la peau de la partie du corps protégée;
- il garantit le squelette de la partie du corps protégée des impacts, par l'absorption, grâce à un élément amortisseur réalisé en composition élastomérique souple, des chocs venus de l'extérieur;
- il est facile à mettre en place sur la partie du corps à protéger grâce à sa souplesse qui lui permet d'adopter, sans effort, la forme adéquate et au système de serrage constitué de sangle(s) d'accrochage et de boucle(s) de fermeture;
- il ne peut glisser puisqu'il possède une forme qui épouse la saillies de la partie du corps protégée, que sa (ou ses) sangle(s) d'accrochage peut (ou peuvent) être rendue(s) inextensible(s) et que les trous de passage de l'ardillon (ou des ardillons) de la (ou des) boucle(s) de fermeture ne peuvent s'agrandir en cours d'utilisation;
