Description

The invention relates to an artillery projectile according to the preamble of claim 1, as described in DE-A-3 326 876.

It is known from DE-A-3 326 876 to arrange submunitions in artillery shells. These are ejected from the artillery storey above the target area, after which the flight stabilization means, for example parachutes, take effect. If an artillery projectile is loaded with submunitions, such an artillery projectile usually has a different weight and a different center of gravity than a corresponding artillery projectile which is filled with an explosive charge. This must be taken into account when firing.

A rocket for transporting bombs is known from US Pat. No. 3,946,672, a cone-shaped separating cover inside the rocket separating the bombs from a thick-walled housing for a parachute. The bombs are placed one inside the other so that separating covers are not required to separate the bombs from one another.

The object of the invention is to propose an artillery projectile of the type mentioned in the introduction, in which the submunitions are designed and housed in such a way that the projectile has the same center of gravity and the same weight as an artillery projectile loaded with a charge.

According to the invention, the stated object is achieved in accordance with the characterizing features of claim 1.

By dimensioning the storage spaces between the at least two submunitions, these can be distributed in the shell so that the center of gravity and the weight of the artillery shell match an artillery shell filled with a load. The moments of inertia of the artillery projectiles also coincide around the longitudinal and transverse axes.

Advantageous refinements of the invention result from the subclaims and the following description of an exemplary embodiment. The figure shows an artillery shell in section.

A projectile has a head (1), a projectile casing (2) and a projectile floor (3). In the shell (2) three submunitions (4,5,6) are axially aligned. Each submunition (4, 5, 6) has a projectile-forming charge (8) and an ignition device (9) in a housing (7). An antenna (10) is arranged on one side of the submunition (4, 5 or 6). A parachute (11) is attached to the opposite side.

A hollow storage space (12) is created between the middle submunition (5) and the submunition (4) or the submunition (6). Its height is determined by an insertion sleeve (13). The insertion sleeve (13) keeps the neighboring submunitions at a distance.

6).The storage space (12) is divided by a cone-shaped partition lid (14). The parachute (11) is located in the storage space (12) on the convex side of the separating cover (14). one submunition (4 or 5). The antenna (10) of the submunition (5 or 6) is located in the storage space (12) on the concave side of the separating cover (14).

A recess (15) is provided in the floor (3) to accommodate the parachute (11) of the submunition (6). The antenna (10) of the uppermost submunition (4) runs under a cover plate (16) which is conical in shape in accordance with the shape of the antenna (10).

In order to achieve sufficient insulation for the projectile formation of the load (8), an insulation plate (17), for example made of steel, is inserted into the bottom of the housing (7).

Due to the described device, the projectile has a weight and a center of gravity which are the same as a conventional artillery projectile of the same dimensions.
