Definitions
- the present invention relates to a shoe insert and shoes comprising the same.
- the presently claimed shoe insert is intended to increase the height of the person wearing the shoes into which the insert is fitted without changing the outer appearance of the shoe.
- German specification No. 30 11 783 discloses a foot support for shoes comprising two layers of foamed polyolefins, the lower layer having a density greater than that of the top layer. While there may be some difference in thickness between the part of the insert supporting the heel and the part supporting the foot cushions, such difference is not considerable and the transition between the two parts is smooth. This foot support cannot serve for the purpose of adding to the apparent height of the wearer.
- EPA No. 136,936 discloses a shell which may have an elastic insert, in which the heel-supporting part may be thicker than the toe area. However, the differences in thickness are small and the transition between the two parts is gradual. Insert of the kind disclosed in this application is intended for the correction of orthopaedic defects and is not suitable to significantly add to the apparent height of the wearer.
- U.S. Patent No. 4,501,076 discloses a process for manufacturing a shoe, having a cushioning element the thickness of which is equal at the heel and toes areas. This patent does not disclose a possibility of adding to the apparent height of the wearer. Contrary to all said publications, the shoe insert subject of the present invention is, as said above, characterized in that it gives the wearer of the shoes into which it is fitted, a considerable addition to the apparent height without any changes in the external appearance of the shoes and the difference between the thickness of the insert at the heel area and the thickness of the toes area is considerable and changes drastically at the point of transition.
- the shoes insert according to the present invention is intended to be used mainly, but not solely, by men who are interested in addition to their apparent height. Shoes having outer high heels are usually worn by ladies while men tend to wear flat or low-heeled shoes.
- the insert subject of the invention may be fitted into various kinds of shoes such as, for example, sports shoes, boots etc. and gives the wearer a considerable addition to the apparent height without change in the outer appearance of the shoe.
- An insert according to the present invention is also advantageous when used for medical orthopaedic purposes, for example by crippled people with one leg shorter than the other who need to wear one shoe with a heel, while the other shoes is flat to compensate for the difference between their two legs and minimize limping.
- an insert according to the invention such a person can wear shoes which would look identical and still have the required lengthening of the short leg.
- the present invention relates to a shoe insert comprising a heel and a sole integrally connected to each other and is characterized in that the height of the heel is considerably higher than the height of the sole and changes drastically at the connection of the heel to the sole.
- the invention is also related to shoes into which the insert according to the invention is integrally fitted.
- Figure 1 illustrates an insert fitted into a shoe.
- the heel area of the insert is designated by 2 and the sole area (foot cushions and toes) is indicated by 3.
- the connection between the heel area 2 and the sole area 3 is indicated by 4.
- the insert may be made from any suitable material, preferably soft and flexible plastics material which enable the foot the perform all the natural movements, without restrictions.
- the insert may be permanently affixed to the shoe or alternatively only fitted thereinto.
- FIG. 2 illustrates an insert according to the invention in which the heel is indicated by 2, the sole by 3 and the connection therebetween by 4.
- the sole thickness Preferably the sole thickness from 0.5 cm and the height of the heel from 1 cm. The difference in height between the heel and the sole drastically change at the connection 4.
- the height of the heel of the insert may be varied according to demand.
- Figure 3 illustrates a shoe comprising an outer heel 7 into which an insert according to the invention is fitted, the heel of which insert is indicated by 6.
- the height of the outer heel 7 is 5 cm and the height of the inner heel 6 is also 5 cm (in such a case that thickness of the sole is about 2 cm)
- the wearer actually has a 10 cm increase of his apparent height, without having to wear shoes with 10 cm high heels.
- Figure 4 illustrates another possibility. If the thickness of the sole 8 of the flat shoe 1 is 2 cm and the height of the heel 2 of the insert is 4 cm, the addition to the height of the wearer is 6 cm while he actually wears a practically flat shoe.
