Definitions
- the invention relates to a side stop for a device for separating pieces of paper from a stack according to the preamble of claim 1.
- the invention relates to the side stop of a feeder of a franking machine for letter envelopes of any format.
- a modular franking machine is known from Hasler Mitanderen 37 (April 1978) 1, 1-7.
- the letter feeder of this franking machine includes, among other things, a support table for placing letter envelopes to be franked, an entry wedge, a letter separator, a feed segment, a side guide wall and a side stop "which can be moved laterally. " not too loose between the guide wall and the side stop.
- the side stop is flat but so narrow that it hardly hinders refilling of stacking envelopes from the side. For franking oversized envelopes, the stop can be turned down by 180 ° fold away.
- the side stop is supported on a slidable, U-shaped sheet metal plate perpendicular to the direction of movement of the envelope, below the table f *.
- the displacement path is so large that the displaceable plate protrudes on the back of the letter feeder when the side stop is narrowly adjusted.
- the object of the invention is therefore to provide a simple side stop, which enables the lateral guidance of envelopes of any format, which is stored under the support table and which requires less room for displacement than corresponding known side stops.
- the solution to this problem is given by the characterizing part of claim 1.
- the other claims specify embodiments of the invention.
- FIG. 1 Schematic side view of a separating device
- FIG. 1 shows schematically the side view of a separating device 10, in particular the Feeding apparatus of a franking machine.
- a stack 11 of similar envelopes is inserted obliquely, which are to be separated from below and franked in order on their top.
- the stack 11 lies on a support table 12 and is held at the back by an inlet wedge 13 and at the front by a letter separator 14.
- a rotatable feed segment 15 pulls the lowest envelope forwards (to the right in FIG. 1) and feeds it to two transport rollers 16 for further transport.
- FIG. 2 shows the separating device 10 from above.
- a stack 11 of smaller envelopes for example of the C6 format.
- the stack 11 is held at the back and front by the wedge 13 or the separator 14.
- the stack 11 is held or guided laterally by a guide wall 17 and a side stop 20.
- the side stop 20 protrudes over the support 12 with a plate-shaped, approximately rectangular support 25.
- this supports 25> a first flat stop surface 21 and adjoining it and rectangularly arranged thereon a second stop surface 22.
- Both stop surfaces 21, 22 are slightly inclined with respect to the vertical, ie they form an angle with the vertical, which is preferably about 2 ° in the lower area of the stop surfaces and about 15 ° in the upper area additionally positioned downwards.
- the carrier 25 is equipped with two side recesses 26, 27 and can be pivoted 90 degrees about a vertically arranged pin 29 in the counterclockwise direction.
- the pin 29 is arranged eccentrically in a corner of the carrier 25, namely in that which is diagonally opposite the free edge 23 of the first stop surface 21.
- Fig. 2 shows the side stop 20 in a first locked working position, in which the stop surface 21 guides the stack 11 of smaller envelopes approximately at the end of the front half of the longitudinal edge of the stack.
- the envelope width can be adjusted in a known manner by moving the side stop 20 transversely to the direction of movement of the envelope.
- Fig. 3 shows the separating device 10 with the side stop 20 from above in a second working position, which is used to guide larger envelopes, e.g. of the format C4.
- This second working position is obtained from the first position by turning the carrier 25 counterclockwise by 90 degrees around the pin 29. In this second position, the carrier 25 releases a previously concealed support block 32.
- This support block 32 lies with its top surface on the same level with the support table 12 and serves to support the larger format envelopes that protrude laterally above it.
- a guide and carrier bolt 34 can be seen, which carries the support block 32 of the side stop 20.
- This bolt 34 is displaceable, but is mounted in a torsion-proof manner under the support table 12.
- FIG 4 shows a third plan view of the separating device 10 and the side stop 20 in a third working position. Starting from the first working position, the stop 20 is rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise around the carrier bolt 34.
- the side surface 33 of the support block 32 which is thereby located on top and the stop surface 22 form a further support surface in the third working position, in particular for oversized envelopes, but there is no longer any lateral guidance.
- the pin 29 hidden in this position is indicated by dashed lines.
- the latching in the three positions is effected, for example, by springs which engage resiliently in the associated depressions.
- stop surfaces or stop cams that prevent rotation in the undesired direction or more than 90 degrees.
- the side stop 20 can advantageously be produced from plastic by injection molding. For reasons of injection molding technology and material savings, it is advantageous to design the carrier 25 and the support block 32 in such a way that they form hollow bodies which are open at the bottom.
- the side stop 20 in the described embodiment is simple in construction, safe to use and optimally fulfills the requirements mentioned at the outset.
- the separating device 10 is generally used for separating flat pieces of paper, i.e. of envelopes, postcards and other postal items. It can be used in any way, not only for franking machines, but also for inserters, folders, etc.
- the stop surfaces 21 and 22 do not necessarily have to be arranged at a right angle to one another, but can also form any other angle.
- the geometry between the abutment surfaces 21, 22 and the position of the pin 29 must, however, be such that the abutment surface 21 for the smaller envelopes and the abutment surface 22 for the larger envelopes each in front of the center of the long side of the respective envelope, but not too far at the front, against the stack 11.
- the support block 32 can also be fixed in place on the guide and carrier bolt 34 instead of being rotatable.
- the bolt 34 must be rotatably supported under the support table 12.
- the handle recesses 26, 27 arranged on the side such can also be provided at other, ergonomically appropriate locations of the side stop 20, for example on the upper side of the support 25 and / or on the lower side of the support block 32.

Abstract
The lateral stop (20) guides, in the separating device (10), in particular a feed device of a franking machine, the respective stack (11) of franking letters, regardless of their respective format, to the part before their longitudinal edge. The stopper (20) comprises a support (25) having two stopper surfaces (21, 22) arranged at right angles. The support can be rotated 90 degrees around a stud (29) counterclockwise. The small envelopes are guided by one of the stop surfaces (21); larger ones by the other (22) of the surfaces when the support (25) is rotated. The stopper (20) can be moved perpendicular to the direction of travel of the envelope and turned into a third working position in which it forms an additional stop surface for very large envelopes.
