Abstract
Description
There is already known a tool for cutting earthenware plates, sandstone or similar material, such as earthenware tiles, consisting of an elongated body having first and second ends and provided at each of its ends with a removable fixing device, such as a thread, of a grip handle, and, at said first end, a first cutting point.
The handle has two functions: first, it allows the user, after positioning on the end opposite the cutting tip, to hold the tool securely, without injuring his hand and with force; it also allows, when the user is not using his tool and holds it for transport, to protect both the tip from damage that could be caused to him, and the environment (clothes, carrying case, other tools ) possible damage that could be caused by said tip, this, of course, after it has been fixed, this time on the first end and surrounds said tip. It should be noted that, in this known arrangement, the tool is only provided with a single cutting point, located at the first end of said body, the second end generally consisting of a cross section of the body of the 'tool.
According to the prior art, the (single) handle, which is provided, is capable of having various shapes and, in particular, of being constituted either by a sort of cap with rounded shapes, having the sole functions of, d on the one hand, to facilitate the gripping of the tool, on the other hand, to protect the cutting tip, depending on the actual use of the tool, either by a beak further enabling a previously cut tile to be subjected to force causing the separation of the two parts of the tile on either side of the cutting line. It should be noted that the handle has, in both cases, the protection function of the single point, it being observed that the end opposite to said point does not need to be protected, since not sharp and therefore not dangerous.
The invention consists, starting from such a known tool, in ensuring that the second end is itself provided with a second cutting tip.
- de manière connue en soi, ladite poignée est conformée en un bec de saisie de la lisière d'une dite plaque de faïence, de grès ou d'un matériau analogue ;
In addition, the following advantageous arrangements are preferably adopted:
- In a manner known per se, said handle is shaped as a grasp for the edge of a said plate of earthenware, sandstone or a similar material;
- The tool comprises two separate removable handles, which are each capable of allowing the gripping of the tool and of protecting the point situated on the fixing end of said handle, one of these two handles being further shaped as a grasping edge of the edge of a plate of earthenware, sandstone or the like.
- si l'idée de prévoir une deuxième pointe de coupe est simple, elle est nouvelle et son absence d'évidence est effective pour les motifs ci-après ;
- prévoir une deuxième pointe de coupe permet de doubler la durée de vie de l'outil, mais, et cela n'est pas évident, sans doubler son prix de revient : en effet, les pointes de coupe sont souvent des pièces rapportées sur le corps de l'outil, en carbure de tungstène par exemple, de coût modique par rapport à l'ensemble et leur fixation est également simple et peu coûteuse, si bien que prévoir une deuxième pointe de coupe peut provoquer une augmentation de seulement 10 % du prix de revient, bien que présentant l'avantage considérable de doubler la durée de vie totale de l'outil ;
- prévoir une deuxième pointe de coupe n'est pas non plus évident selon l'art antérieur, car, avec une poignée unique et deux pointes de coupes, l'outil aura en permanence une pointe de coupe apparente, non protégée, et agressive pour l'environnement ; en partant d'un outil comprenant une pointe de coupe et une poignée, l'homme du métier aboutissait à supprimer l'avantage connu de la protection de la pointe de coupe unique par la poignée dans la configuration inactive de l'outil ;
- à moins d'adopter l'une des dispositions préférées de l'invention, selon laquelle deux poignées sont prévues, qui permettent, en configuration inactive de l'outil, de protéger ses deux pointes de coupe ; là encore, l'adoption d'une deuxième poignée n'est aucunement suggérée par l'art antérieur défini par l'outil comprenant une pointe de coupe et une poignée ; quel aurait bien pu être, dans cette disposition connue, la justification de prévoir une deuxième poignée (pour protéger quoi ?)? ;
- l'invention réside donc essentiellement dans le fait d'avoir exprimé, pour la première fois, un nouveau principe constructif, certes simple, mais aux avantages si importants,- être en mesure d'offrir à la vente des outils comprenant deux pointes de coupe pratiquement au même prix que des outils munis d'une seule pointe -, que si cette structure nouvelle avait été évidente, elle aurait dû obligatoirement être adoptée depuis longtemps ; la simple constatation de son inexistence avant la présente invention suffit donc à démontrer son absence d'évidence, et par conséquent à constater l'activité inventive qu'a impliquée cette invention ;
It seems appropriate now to make the following observations:
- if the idea of providing a second cutting tip is simple, it is new and its lack of evidence is effective for the reasons below;
- providing a second cutting tip makes it possible to double the life of the tool, but, and this is not obvious, without doubling its cost price: indeed, cutting tips are often attachments to the body of the tool, made of tungsten carbide for example, of low cost compared to the assembly and their fixing is also simple and inexpensive, so that providing a second cutting tip can cause an increase of only 10% in cost price, although having the considerable advantage of doubling the total life of the tool;
- Providing a second cutting tip is also not obvious according to the prior art, because, with a single handle and two cutting tips, the tool will permanently have an apparent, unprotected, and aggressive cutting tip for the environment ; starting from a tool comprising a cutting point and a handle, those skilled in the art succeeded in eliminating the known advantage of protecting the single cutting tip by the handle in the inactive configuration of the tool;
- Unless adopting one of the preferred arrangements of the invention, according to which two handles are provided, which allow, in the inactive configuration of the tool, to protect its two cutting points; here again, the adoption of a second handle is in no way suggested by the prior art defined by the tool comprising a cutting tip and a handle; what could have been, in this known provision, the justification for providing a second handle (to protect what?)? ;
- the invention therefore essentially resides in the fact of having expressed, for the first time, a new constructive principle, admittedly simple, but with such important advantages, - being able to offer for sale tools comprising two points of cuts almost at the same price as tools with a single point -, that if this new structure had been evident, it would have had to be adopted long ago; the simple observation of its non-existence before the present invention is therefore sufficient to demonstrate its absence of evidence, and therefore to note the inventive activity implied by this invention;
- The present invention therefore relates to cutting tools comprising two cutting points, it being understood that the designation "cutting point" covers the tapered points proper, the cutting prisms, the cutting inserts of the tools called "tracettes" , which equip cutting tools for ceramics, tiles, stoneware and similar materials.
The invention will be better understood, and secondary characteristics and their advantages will appear during the description of embodiments given below by way of example.
It is understood that the description and the drawings are given for information only and are not limiting.

- un corps 1, réalisé en acier, de forme allongée, généralement cylindrique, dont la partie médiane est munie de striures antiglisse 2, et qui comprend une première extrémité 3 et une deuxième extrémité 4 ;
- une première pointe de coupe 5, distincte de la première extrémité 3, sertie sur celle-ci et réalisée en carbure de tungstène ;
- une deuxième pointe de coupe 6, distincte de la deuxième extrémité 4, sertie sur celle-ci et réalisée en carbure de tungstène ;
- des premier 7 et deuxième 8 filetages, ménagés sur les parties cylindriques du corps 1 proches desdites première et deuxième extrémités, respectivement ;
The tool of Figures 1 and 2 consists of:
- A body 1, made of steel, of elongated shape, generally cylindrical, the middle part of which is provided with
- A first cutting point 5, distinct from the first end 3, crimped thereon and made of tungsten carbide;
- A
- First 7 and second 8 threads, formed on the cylindrical parts of the body 1 close to said first and second ends, respectively;
- A
The cutting points could, as a variant, be in one piece with the body 1, although it is often preferred to produce them separately from said body 1 and to attach them to the body 1 later.
Figure 2 shows the tool in its utility configuration sation, in which the
The embodiment of FIG. 3 is identical to that of FIGS. 1 and 2, and comprises two cutting points, except as regards the shape of the
The latter, previously cut into two
The tool of FIG. 4 is identical to that of FIG. 3, supplemented by the addition of the handle 9 (that of the tool of FIGS. 1 and 2), which is, in the configuration shown, screwed onto the
Ainsi, avec l'outil de la figure 4 :
- lorsque l'une des pointes de coupe est découverte, la poignée correspondante 9 ou 19 étant enlevée, l'utilisateur peut tenir bien en main l'outil et la poignée restante, et couper le carreau de faïence avec à pointe de coupe découverte ;
Thus, with the tool in Figure 4:
- when one of the cutting points is discovered, the
- with the two handles in place in the protection configuration of the cutting points, the user can either separate the two parts of the ceramic tile, without risk to injure yourself with the cutting tip opposite the
Enfin, la même possibilité existe évidemment avec la réalisation de la figure 4.Of course, with each of the three embodiments shown, when one of the cutting tips is worn, the user instantly has at his disposal a new spare cutting tip. It suffices for him, in the embodiment of FIGS. 1 and 2, to screw the handle, no longer on the thread 7, but on the
The invention is not limited to the embodiments shown, but on the contrary covers all the variants which could be made to them without departing from their scope or their spirit.
