Suspension element for suspended ceilings, having two plate-like bodies (1), which form the two lateral surfaces of the element and are formed from sound-absorbing, porous materials, wherein a plate (7), which is substantially thinner than these bodies (1), is disposed between these bodies and has a substantially higher specific weight than the bodies (1), and profiles (4), which extend transversely relative to the element, or respectively such a profile (4), are provided in the region of the upper edge of the element in order to retain the bodies (1), and wherein, additionally, the plate (7) and the profiles (4) form a substantially T-shaped support member, and the plate (7) extends substantially vertically, while the profiles (4), situated at the upper end of the element, extend virtually horizontally, characterised in that the film- or sheet-like plate (7) is formed from metal, the profiles (4) are constructed as metallic profiles, and the plate (7) and the metallic profiles (4) are interconnected in a substantially inextensible manner, the plate (7) has an undulatory or zig-zag configuration when viewed in horizontal cross-section, and the upper edge and also, possibly, the lower edge of the plate (7) protrude into a U-shaped profile, or respectively into a U-­shaped portion of the metallic profiles (4), the inside width of these U-shaped profiles (4), or respectively portions, corresponding to the cross-sectional width of the plate (7), and the plate (7) is securely connected to the U-shaped profile, or respectively the U-shaped portion, by means of rivets (12) or the like.
2. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that the undulations have a substantially trapezoidal configuration, and the portions (9) of such undulations extend in the longitudinal direction of the plate and serve to secure the plate to the metallic profiles.
3. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that one or two metallic profiles are situated on the upper and lower ends of the element, the upper and lower edges of the plate (7) being securely connected to said profiles in order to form a double T-shaped support member.
4. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that the metal profile has a hollow construction in places to form one or more box-type support members (Fig. 7).
5. Element according to claims 1 and 3, characterised in that the bodies (1) on the upper and lower edges are retained in a form-locking manner on the edges of the metallic profiles (4) (Fig. 5).
6. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that the lower U-shaped profile has, at its lower end, a T-shaped projection member which serves to accommodate the edges of the bodies (1), or respectively lower portions (3) of the bodies.
7. Element according to claims 1 and 3, characterised in that plate-like bodies, which form the lateral surfaces of the element, are retained in a form-locking manner on the edges of the metallic profiles (4) (Fig. 5).
8. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that the upper metallic profile (4), with a plate-like portion (5), wholly or partially covers the upper horizontal part of the body (1).
9. Element according to claim 8, characterised in that the portion (5) has a width which corresponds substantially to only half the width of the element.
10. Element according to claim 1, characterised in that the width of the element at the upper edge is greater than at the lower edge, and the element generally has a conical, wedge-­shaped cross-section.
