Abstract

In a hair treatment process, steam is applied first and then high frequency radiation. We use a contact electrode all over the scalp and then a cosmetic / medical laser for acupuncture applications on up to 50 acupuncture points on the scalp and other parts of the body corresponding to the growth of hair to stimulate hair growth on the scalp.

Description

HAIR TREATMENT METHOD
THIS INVENTION relates to a method of treating the scalp by first applying steam and subsequently high frequency radiation, using a contact electrode, to the whole scalp area and then using a medical laser to apply acupuncture to up to 50 acupuncture points on the scalp and other parts of the body which correspond to hair growth to stimulate the growth of hair on the scalp.
This is done especially with the aim of revitalising hair follicles which have previously lain dormant to create hair growth with previously bald patients.
After the scalp has been steamed under an electrically operated vapor hood, and then thoroughly dried, high frequency radiation with an electrode is applied for periods of between 3 to 5 minutes to the whole scalp. After this, acupuncture is applied to between 20 to 50 acupuncture points on the scalp and other parts of the body which correspond to hair growth. Because of the large number of points involved rendering the use of traditional acupuncture needles uncomfortable to the patient, and therefore impracticable, a IMW to 4MW helium neon laser beam is applied to said acupuncture points for up to 20 seconds for each point for overall time periods of from between 10 to 20 minutes. Laser acupuncture is painless. Depending on the individual case, up to 7 traditional acupuncture needles may also be applied to main acupuncture points of the. scalp and body.
It is believed that it is the special combination of high frequency radiation with an electrode and acupuncture which is the basis of the methods's effectiveness - over and above that of either of the treatments if used singly. Treatment sessions may be spaced from between a number of days to weeks. Depending on the individual case, the high frequency and the acupuncture treatments may be carried out separately (upon a .
patient's alternate visits) or combined in single visits. Also, a combination of the two treatment configurations may be employed over a period.
High frequency comes under that section of medicine classed as electro-therapy. It destroys bacteria and stimulates the circulation of blood supply to the scalp. In applying it we use a low current. The helium neon laser used is a recognised machine employed in treating the skin, and has been approved by the appropriate government departments and authorities. It is used by acupuncturists. A complete course of the treatment usually takes up to 14 of the sessions described above. In addition to this a minimum of one single booster treatment every three months is recommended.
