- the invention relates to a low-voltage current cut-off device with modular housing having a front face, two large parallel side faces, and two small side faces, each having a recess for housing a pair of power terminals and at least one control terminal, said recesses being arranged opposite the front face towards the rear part of the case, in which case are housed and connected in series a static switch and a pair of separable contacts actuated by a mechanism having a control handle, arranged on said front face and a trigger causing the separation of the contacts during a fault by protecting the static switch.
- An apparatus of the type mentioned, for example described in document EP-A-0104981 allows a circuit to be opened and closed by the control of a static switch, possibly remote-controlled.
- the separable contacts open automatically, protecting the static switch and interrupting the circuit.
- the control of the separable contacts can be manual using a lever arranged on the front face of the device.
- the static switch is housed inside the molded case in a compartment provided under one of the terminals, but this arrangement can cause overheating detrimental to the proper functioning of the device and also requires an increase in the enclosure profile.
- the present invention aims to allow the realization of an apparatus with static switch and integrated circuit breaker allowing efficient cooling of the static switch while respecting a standard template.
- the apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that said housing has in its rear part a first housing delimited by an external metal plate forming the bottom of the housing and an intermediate partition separating a second housing, and the static switch is disposed in said first housing in thermal contact with the metal plate, said separable contacts being housed in the second housing.
- the cooling can be reinforced by attaching a radiator to the external metal plate and the protection of the static switch can be achieved by providing a shunt circuit for the static switch which is switched on by switching the arc drawn between the contacts to a bow horn.
- the shunting circuit advantageously comprises an arcing horn arranged near one of the contacts to capture the arc as soon as it forms and this arcing horn extends in the direction of the other contact to constitute a re-ignition zone. , this occurs on the arcing horn and not on the contact, preventing any passage of current through the static switch.
- the power terminals and the control terminals of the static switch are arranged on the small side faces of the housing, while the movable contact struggles in a plane parallel to these small side faces.
- the thermal trip device in particular the bimetallic strip, is moved in an adjacent plane.
- a pole 10 of a modular apparatus with molded housing 12 has a front face 18 crossed by a control handle 20.

- a lock 52 cooperates with the trigger lever 48, this lock being able to be actuated by the bimetallic strip 34 in the event of overload or by the electromagnetic trip unit with coil 36. The release of the latch 52 causes the trigger lever 48 to pivot and the movable contact 24 to open under the action of a spring (not shown).

- the movable contact 24 is connected to the opposite terminal 38 through the coil 36 and the bimetallic strip 34. The current entering at a given time via terminal 38 travels through bimetallic strip 34, coil 36, contacts 22, 24, switch 56 to exit through terminal 40.
- the upper arc horn 41 is connected to terminal 38, while the lower arc horn 39 extends to the vicinity of the fixed contact 22, being separated from the latter by a small gap 66.
- the lower arc horn 39 is moreover connected by a conductor 62 to a connection point 64 of the main circuit located between the static switch e 56 and terminal 40.
- the housing 12 has two large parallel side faces 72, 74 and two small parallel side faces 76, 78 having recesses 80 defining an enlarged portion on the bottom side of the housing 12
- the power terminals 38, 40 are arranged on the side of the small side wall 76 in the enlarged part 80 of the housing, while the control terminals 59, 60 are arranged on the opposite side towards the small side wall 78.
- the breaking chamber 26, the coil 36 and the mechanism 30 are superimposed parallel to the small side faces 76, 78 being interposed between the intermediate partition 14 and the lever 20.

- the end of the arcing horn 39 separated from the fixed contact 22 by a small gap 66, has a boss 70 in the direction of the movable contact 24.
- the boss 70 is offset laterally from the fixed contact 22 in the direction of opening of the movable contact 24.
- the boss 70 is thus disposed before the fixed contact 22 relative to the closing direction of the movable contact at a distance from this contact less than the separation distance of the contacts 22, 24, during opening or in the open position. In the case of a reboot, the latter will intervene between the movable contact 24 and the boss 70 and not between the contacts 22, 24. This avoids a re-circuiting of the static switch 56 with risks of destruction.
