Abstract
Description
- The present application relates to clamping devices and to vice arrangements mounted on clamping devices.
- US 1,624,252 discloses a pipe vice comprising two opposed jaws which are pivoted at one end and can be closed by a screw clamp which engages the free ends of the jaws. The clamping faces of the jaws each have a series of part cylindrical cut-outs of graduated size, which together define a series of commonly aligned split holes of graduated diameter for clamping tubes of various diameters. The base of the vice is provided with three arenate recesses to enable the vice to be located against a rounded support but no means are disclosed for attaching the device to a support.
- GB 1,377,169 discloses a vice comprising two G-shaped clamping devices provided with screw clamps for clamping them to an edge of a bench, and two shafts extending between the clamping devices. One of the clamping devices constitutes a fixed jaw and a movable jaw is mounted on the shafts and cooperates with the fixed jaw. The vice of GB 1,377,169 can be mounted only in a single orientation with respect to its support.
- CH-A-283-846 discloses a clamping device according to the precharacterising part of claim 1.
- The present invention provides a clamping device for providing a machine seat comprising a bracket carrying a screw clamp for attachment of the device to a support, the device having an outer hole which is capable of reviewing a bearing rod of a machine and the bracket being capable of supporting the machine in either of two alignments, characterised in that the device has a first set of three mutually aligned holes comprising two outer holes and a middle hole the two outer holes being capable of receiving respective bearing rods of the machine and the middle hole being capable of receiving a screw threaded rod for operating the machine, the bracket also having a second set of three mutually aligned holes in the same positions relative to each other as the holes of the first set and comprising two outer holes and a middle hole, the two outer holes being capable of receiving respective bearing rods of the machine and the middle hole being capable of receiving a screw-threaded rod for operating the machine, the holes of the first set being aligned transversely to the holes of the second set, and in that an outer hole of each set is split between the bracket and an opposed pivoted member of the clamping device and is capable of clamping a bearing rod of the machine between its split portions.
- The invention also provides a vice arrangement comprising two opposed cooperating jaws mounted on two outer bearing rods and an intermediate screw threaded rod which is arranged to screw the jaws towards and away from each other, the two outer bearing rods and screw threaded rod being mounted between two clamping devices each comprising the features of claim 1.
- Preferred features are defined in the dependent claims 2-5.
- Certain embodiments of the invention are described below by way of example only.
- In the accompanying drawings:
- Figure 1 is a top view of a vice arrangement in accordance with the invention;
- Figure 2 is a front sectional view of the arrangement shown in Figure 1;
- Figure 3 is a side view of the arrangement shown in Figure 1;
- Figure 4 is a view of a clamping device in accordance with the invention for setting up a machine in two different directions;
- Figure 5 is a side view of the clamping device of Figure 4;
- Figure 6 is a side sectional veiw of the clamping device shown in Figure 5;
- Figure 7 is a front view of the clamping device shown in Figure 5;
- Figure 8 is a top view of the clamping device shown in Figure 5;
- Figures 9 and 10 show machines set up in two different directions using the device of Figure 5;
- Figure 11 is a view of a further clamping device in accordance with the invention, having an independent coupling hole, and
- Figures 12 to 15 are various views of Figure 11.
- A vice arrangement in accordance with the invention mounted on two clamping devices in accordance with the invention is shown generally in Figures 1 to 3. Further vice arrangements in accordance with the invention are shown generally in Figures 9 and 10.
- Referring to Figures 4 to 8 which show an individual clamping device in accordance with the invention, it will be seen that
additional holes clamping hole 2012 of the device, which is composed of amachine seat clamp 2020 coupled tomachine seat 2019 by connectingpin 2021 andspring 2022, an operatingrotating button 2016, ascrew rod 2018 and a freelyrotatable disc 2017. The pitch betweenhole 2013 andhole 2012 is same as the pitch betweenhole 2011 andhole 2012. The pitch betweenhole 2014 andhole 2012 is same as the pitch betweenhole 2010 andhole 2012. The relative positions of theholes holes holes - Figures 11 to 15 show another example of the auxiliary seat as shown in Figure 4, in which clamping holes in vertical and horizontal directions are provided, in order that the auxiliary clamping jaw seat of a free clamping jaw fitted with this clamping pincer can be fitted in the above-described horizontal or vertical directions. Since this embodiment is similar in many respects to the embodiment of Figures 3 to 8, corresponding parts are indicated by like reference numerals and a detailed description has been omitted.
