Während die Gehäusewände der Schreibmaschine oder des Druckers den Schall gut zurückhalten und gegebenenfalls zusätzliche Dämmungsmaßnahmen getroffen werden können, stellt der Schreibwerkschacht, in dem sich der Papiereinzug mit Walze und Führungsrollen sowie ein Schlitten mit dem Druckwerk befindet, eine große schallabstrahlende Öffnung dar. Zur Schalldämpfung wird diese Öffnung üblicherweise mit einem durchsichtigen Deckel aus Kunststoff, beispielsweise Acrylglas, verschlossen. Es treten dann jedoch häufig Spiegelungen auf, die nicht nur den Einblick erschweren, sondern störende Blendungen verursachen können. Die Innenseite der Blendabdeckung 14 ist zur Vermeidung von Blendungen schwarz mattiert, beispielsweise durch Aufkleben einer entsprechenden Folie. Zur Befestigung an der Schreibmaschine 1 weist die Blendabdeckung 14 Befestigungsösen 16 auf, die in gleicher Weise wie bei einer normalen Blendabdeckung ausgebildet sind. The housing 17 has a switch 19 with which the lighting can be switched on and off. In order to make no additional socket necessary when installing the illuminated screen cover 14, in addition to the connection of the series choke in the housing 17 by a connecting cord 20 with a plug 21 and the connection 22 to the fluorescent tube, a line 23 with a socket 24 is provided, which serves as a power supply to the typewriter .

Claims (7)

1. A light fitting for typewriters (1) or printers, comprising a shade (14) disposed above the typewriter or printer well, a lamp housing in the form of an elongate cavity being provided at the front free edge of the shade (14) in a recess (15) and a fluorescent tube together with its starter being disposed in the lamp housing and radiating light on the typing or printing area through a light exit window (18).
2. A light fitting according to claim 1, characterised in that the lamp housing is at least partially integral with the shade (14).
3. A light fitting according to claim 2, characterised in that part of the lamp housing is removable.
4. A light fitting according to claim 2 or 3, characterised in that the shade (14) has interchangeable edge parts (16) for fixing to different types of typewriter or printer.

A light fitting according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the or each power supply cable (11) for the lamp fittings (6 to 9) is taken through an aperture (12) into the casing of the typewriter (1) or printer, where it is connected to the typewriter power supply behind the typewriter switch.

A light fitting according to any one of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the ballast for the fluorescent tube is disposed in a separate casing (17) having a connecting cable (20) for the power supply and a plug socket (24) for connecting the typewriter or printer and a connecting lead (22) to the fluorescent tube.
7. A light fitting according to claim 6, characterised in that the casing (17) is provided with catch means for fitting to the typewriter or printer.
