Aus der CH-PS 4 78 666 ist ein Räderfalzapparat bekannt, der einen Schneidzylinder und einen mit dem Schneidzylinder zusammenwirkenden Punktur- und Gummileistenzylinder aufweist. Der Gummileistenzylinder arbeitet mit einem Sammelzylinder und dieser mittels eines zwischengeschalteten Übergabezylinders mit zwei weiteren Falzmesserzylinder zusammen, denen jeweils zwei Falzwalzen zugeordnet sind. Nachteilig an dem Gegenstand der CH-PS 4 78 666 ist, daß ein zusätzlicher Übergabezylinder, z.B. zwischen dem Sammelzylinder und dem Falzmesserzylinder benötigt wird. Außerdem werden alle zwischen einem Schneid- und Gummileistenzylinder geschnittenen Signaturen auf dieselbe Länge geschnitten, was insbesondere bei Sammelproduktion dazu führt, daß die inneren Lagen nach dem Falzen über die äußeren Lagen hinausragen. Ein in den Falzapparat einlaufender Papierstrang weist die gleiche Geschwindigkeit auf wie die Umfangsgeschwindigkeit des Sammelzylinders. Durch diese Maßnahme können sich in nachteiliger Weise beim Sammeln die Hinterkanten der auf dem Sammelzylinder gesammelten Signaturen mit den Vorderkanten der vom Sammelzylinder abzugebenden Signaturen behindern.From CH-PS 4 78 666 a wheel folding apparatus is known which has a cutting cylinder and a puncture and rubber strip cylinder interacting with the cutting cylinder. Die beiden Schneidmesser 12, 13 liegen sich gegenüber, bei Sammelproduktion jedoch auf einer Geraden in einem Abstand vom Durchmesser des Schneidzylinders 11, so daß im Wechsel unterschiedlich lange Signaturen von den einzelnen oder vereinigten Teilpapierbahnsträngen 8, 9 abgeschnitten werden und von beiden steuerbaren Punktursätzen 16, 17 abwechselnd übernommen werden. Die Räderfalzmesser 28, 29, 31 drehen sich jeweils unterhalb eines geschlitzten kreisförmigen Mantels des Falzmesserzylinders 23, der sich ebenfalls auf der Antriebswelle des Falzmesserzylinders 23 abstützt und treten zum Hineindrücken der Signaturen in angetriebene Falzwalzen 32, 33 durch die Schlitze im Mantel hindurch. Auf dem Mantel des Falzmesserzylinders 23 sind drei, in gleichem Abstand voneinander angeordnete steuerbare Greifersätze 24, 26, 27 vorgesehen.
