Gazogène comportant en série une trémie-magasin à combustibles, un foyer de combustion, une zone d'extraction du gaz hors du foyer et d'évacuation des résidus solides et des moyens de traitement du gaz constitués notamment par une cheminée d'évacuation disposée à l'intérieur de l'en­ ceinte de génération du gaz et composée de deux conduits sensiblement coaxiaux entre lesquels est ménagé un es­ pace pour la circulation du gaz; la cheminée assure le cap­ tage du gaz à la partie inférieure de l'enceinte et la circula­ tion du gaz d'abord de bas en haut, par le conduit externe, jusqu'au niveau de la zone de combustion, et ensuite de haut en bas par le conduit interne jusqu'à la canalisation de sortie des gaz; un élément métallique allongé solidaire du couver­ cle obturant la partie supérieure du conduit externe, et qui traverse ce couvercle, plonge à l'intérieur du conduit interne de la cheminée, de façon coaxiale à ce conduit; cet élément allongé est avantageusement assujetti au dispositif de com­ mande de la grille utilisée pour maintenir la charge et en extraire les résidus solides, par des moyens mécaniques qui comportent des dispositifs de conversion du mouvement de translation horizontale de la grille en un mouvement alterna­ tif de montée et descente de l'élément allongé.
