- the invention also relates to a machine for the use of cassettes loaded with strip, in particular with a view to its use for the installation of such strips or parallel metal ribbons inside a concrete sheet in order to produce continuously the frame of this tablecloth.
- Machines which continuously carry out the manufacture of various pavements or runways, in particular aerodromes, using reinforced concrete slabs.
- steel reinforcements or reinforcements formed of round bars, between which the concrete is poured.
- the preparation of the slabs and in particular the installation of the irons requiring work prior to the passage of the machine which, on the reinforcement thus prepared, pours the concrete, homogenizes it to facilitate its pouring, vibrates it to eliminate the air occluded in it, and finally equalizes it for the final production of the desired slab.
- the present invention therefore also relates to a machine for the automatic use of cassettes having the above characteristics, with a view in particular to the continuous manufacture of a reinforced concrete slab, characterized in that it comprises, carried by a platform movable in the direction in which the slab extends, a frame comprising two sets of cassettes distributed according to two parallel rows extending respectively perpendicular to said direction, each cassette of the same row being arranged in a plane containing a cassette of the other row so that the strips unwound from these cassettes can be successively used in located in the extension of one another, the strip of a cassette after complete unwinding out of it being immediately followed by the strip of the other cassette, the ends of the two strips being automatically butted one at the 'other on the chassis, means being provided to replace the empty cassette by a new full cassette in order to allow the uninterrupted continuation of the progress of the successive strips.
- the cassettes of a row are slightly offset in height with respect to the cassettes of the other row, so that the ends to abut their respective strips are located alternately on the top, then on the bottom one of the other, from one strip to the next.
- the chassis supports behind rows of cassettes with respect to the direction of movement of the machine, a device for abutting successive strips of two cassettes, comprising at least one head movable transversely on the chassis parallel to each of the rows to ensure the connection of the strips of each group of two cassettes in their common plane.
- the abutment device is provided with as many connection heads as there are cassettes in each row, these connection heads being arranged in line with each other. that cassette and ordered to ensure the connection of the strip of the cassette with the strip of the next, from one row to another.
- the joining of the strips can be carried out by stapling, welding, crimping, punching or by any other suitable method.
- the machine comprises means for guiding the strips unwound from the cassettes, comprising at least one guide roller and a member for applying the strip in the concrete sheet produced simultaneously.
- the strip application member in the concrete sheet is constituted by a rake, extending transversely to the chassis parallel to the rows of cassettes, the strips unwound from these cassettes passing between the teeth of the rake, directed towards the concrete sheet and whose spacing two by two corresponds substantially to that of a strip.
- the applicator member is constituted by a roller carried by the chassis in the vicinity of the concrete sheet, having raised grooves between which the strips are guided, this roller being associated with a brush or the like ensuring the elimination of concrete entrained by the roller.
- the chassis comprises means for removing the empty strip cassettes and ensuring their replacement by full cassettes pre-supplied on the machine.
- these means comprise rails extending parallel to the rows of cassettes and each supporting at least one handling member for a cassette ensuring the lifting of this, its transverse movement towards a magazine provided at the end of the chassis beyond the corresponding row of cassettes, the taking in the magazine of a full cassette, its transport and its removal in place of the cassette vacuum removed.
- the strip material used is a notched strip of steel with high elastic limit.
- Figure 1 is an elevational view of a tape or metal tape cassette made in accordance with the invention
- Figure 2 is a sectional view of the cassette along line 2-2 of Figure 1 and Figure 3 a detail view on a larger scale;
- FIG. 4 is a schematic view in elevation and partial section of a machine allowing the continuous use of a cassette according to the invention, in particular for the installation of strips coming from these cassettes inside a sheet of concrete, with a view to ensuring the reinforcement of the latter;
- Figure 5 is a top view of the machine illustrated in Figure 4.
- FIGS 6 and 7 respectively illustrate two alternative embodiments of an accessory used in the machine according to Figures 4 and 5, to allow the proper application of the straps pro coming from cassettes inside the concrete sheet;
- Figures 8 and 9 are cross-sectional views of the accessory illustrated in Figures 6 and 7 respectively;
- FIG. 10 represents a plan view of a strip section according to the invention.
- Figure 11 is a longitudinal sectional view of the strip of Fig.10;
- Figure 12 is a plan view of another embodiment of a strip according to the invention;
- FIG. 13 is a partial cross-sectional view of the strip of FIG. 12, on which the active working surface of the rollers has also been shown in partial section.
- a cassette established in accordance with the invention mainly consists of two metal flanges 1 and 2 respectively having a substantially square external profile, these two flanges being parallel to each other and joined together by a series of transverse pins 3 extending perpendicular to the plane of the flanges 1 and 2.
- the connecting pins 3 between the flanges 1 and 2 are distributed along a circumference 4 whose apparent contour is delimited inside the surface of these flanges.
- the pins 3 are made of a metallic material of the same nature as that of the flanges 1, for example steel, or alternatively may be made of a sufficiently resistant plastic material.
- the pins 3 can be constituting them by means of a metallic central core, coated on its outer surface of a plastic material, in particular of the "Teflon" kind allowing, as will be seen below, an improved sliding of the strip F stored inside the cassette C.
- the transverse pins 3 can be supported at their ends which penetrate into the facing surfaces of the flanges 1 and 2, being supported by these by means of ball bearings or the like, schematically represented in the drawing under references 5 and 6.
- the cassette according to the invention comprises, in order to allow the end of the strip F stored inside it to exit, a guide passage 7 delimited by other series of pins 8 and 9 respectively, arranged by pairs and extending substantially along a tangent to the circle 4 delimited by pins 3 joining the flanges 1 and 2.
- the strip F housed inside the cassette C in the manner which will be explained below, has an end 10 which projects slightly from the cassette beyond the corridor 7, and forms the inside the cassette, pressing against the circle 4 of the transverse pins 3, a series of strip turns 11, the number of these turns in the cassette being determined as a function of the desired strip length, the dimensions of the cassette and of the own thickness of this strip.
- the flange 2 delimits a circular opening 12 whose diameter is just less than that of the circle delimited by the pins 3 to allow the installation of a roll or of a strip of strip F, held by links 13.
- This opening can be closed by a cover 14 hinged on the flange 2 by hinges 15 and provided, like the flange 2, with locking means 16 of any suitable type.
- this cover has a polygonal (octagonal) shape which allows the angles of the flange 2 to be left clear.
- the flange 1 and the cover 14 are advantageously hollowed out and have perforated parts such as 17, four in number in the embodiment shown, delimited by radial arms 18 which meet towards the center of the flange by a cylindrical part 19 that ci delimiting in its center a circular opening 20.
- FIG. 4 schematically illustrates a machine M intended for the continuous use of cassettes loaded with strip, in accordance with the arrangements which have just been exposed.
- a machine in a particular application given without limitation, makes it possible to ensure the continuous running of the strips stored in these cassettes and to reinforce a sheet of concrete thereby allowing the continuous development of a pavement or the like formed by an uninterrupted slab over a distance as large as desired.
- the machine M mainly comprises a driving part 48 supported by tracks 49 and 50 allowing the machine to move in the direction of the boom, this drive part supporting, substantially in its center, an automatic finisher with sliding formwork 51 shown diagrammatically and whose role is to ensure, in a mass of concrete B, previously deposited in front of the machine, the formation of a suitably reinforced continuous slab.
- the device 51 is in particular associated with vibrating needles 52, with a shield 53 and with a screw 54 for homogenization and mixing of the concrete, placed on the machine, in suitable locations.
- a coupling device 55 comprising a jaw 56 and a connecting pin 57 on which engages a connecting flange 58 formed at one end of a platform 59, itself provided with support yokes 60 for wheels 61. Thanks to these provisions, the thrust force due to the machine M is transmitted to the platform 59, the free play of the flange 58 on the pin 57 allowing this plate -form 59 to orient itself properly, notwithstanding the deformations of the ground in front of the machine, and in particular the mass of concrete spilled in bulk at this location.
- a frame 62 On the upper part of the platform 59 is mounted a frame 62 under the upper part of which are fixed two parallel mono-rails respectively 63 and 64, along which is capable of moving a gripping member 65 allowing manipulation and displacement under the casing of cassettes C according to the invention.
- a plate 66 At the front of the frame 62 is mounted a plate 66 making it possible to secure the end-to-end or end-to-end fixing of the strips coming from the cassettes, by making it possible, as explained below, to connect to the end of a strip from a cassette and at the end of the course, the free end of another strip coming from a full cassette and so on, so that the concrete sheet can be reinforced by these strips without any solution of continuity.
- the joining of the strips can be carried out by any suitable method, in particular by stapling, welding, punching, crimping, etc., by means of a single head movable from one strip to the other or of a multiple head.
- cassettes according to the invention loaded with their strips are distributed in two parallel rows, respectively 67 and 68 (FIG. 5) in which these cassettes designated under the references C1 and C2 are slightly offset in height, one with respect to to each other, so that their respective strips F1 and F2 are located slightly above one another as shown in FIG. 4.
- the abutment head 66 achieves at a suitable time the fixing of the end of this strip with that which corresponds to the strip F2 of the cassette C2 located in the next row but in the plane of the first cassette.
- the metal strip continues to unwind towards the concrete sheet, being guided by a roller 69 and an application member in the concrete 70, the details of which will be given below.
- the gripping member 65 comes inside the frame 62 to take the cassette C1 previously used and empty of strip, so as to lift it and take it to a lateral magazine 71 or 72 (FIG. 5) provided on the sides of the frame 62. In the same way, the gripping member 65 comes to seize in one of these stores a new full cassette to be placed in place of the previous one thus evacuated.
- FIGS. 6 and 7 illustrate two variants of detail showing the possible embodiment of the accessory 70 making it possible to apply inside the concrete sheet under the machine M, the strip F delivered continuously from the cassettes C1 and C2 of the manner thus indicated.
- the applicator member 70 of the strip consists of a rake 73 whose teeth 74 directed towards the ground and the concrete layer delimit between them a space 75 whose width corresponding substantially to that of the strips F delivered by the cassettes, thus making it possible to guide these inside the concrete.
- the applicator member consists of a roller 76 having raised grooves 77, these in turn delimiting between them a space 78 whose width corresponds substantially to that of the strip F.
- the roller 76 is advantageously associated with a scraping member 79 making it possible to permanently rid it, during its rotation, of the concrete which it entrains with the moving the machine.
- the cassettes used have a space and a weight as reduced as possible and easily allow their handling, their storage, their transport and their replacement, all advantages which cannot be obtained with a single supply coil of large dimensions on which the strip would be rolled up.
- the cassettes produced in accordance with the invention have a particularly simple structure, a very limited cost price and maximum safety in use. Furthermore, the process necessary for their loading is extremely simplified since it suffices to open the cover 14, to put in place a new roller, to close the cover, then to cut the links holding the various turns of this roller. This operation can be carried out at the site where the cassettes are used, which constitutes significant progress, in particular in terms of security.
- the rollers can in fact be formed in the factory, practically without dangerous handling, transported easily and placed in the cassettes in complete safety. This also results in significant savings.
- the strip shown in FIG. 10 intended for the application described above is in the form of a strip 101 having on each of its faces an embossing.
- This embossing consists of a or several rows of bosses 102 projecting above the upper face of the strip 101 and separated by recessed cells 103.
- the bosses and cells are in the shape of a truncated cone with a slight slope.
- the strip illustrated in Figs. 10 and 11 can be manufactured by conventional drawing of a steel strip with high elastic limit (preferably greater than 800 MPa) of approximately 2 mm thickness so as to determine projections or recesses of approximately 0.8 mm.
- high elastic limit preferably greater than 800 MPa
- the strip has only on its main faces, hollow cells 110, in the form of a pyramid, the point of which is directed towards the body of the strip and opening to the surface by a diamond base. These cells are aligned in staggered rows.
- Fig. 13 showing a cross section of the strip of FIG. 12 have been shown partially upper 140 and lower rollers 141 whose active working surfaces 142 and 143 print the desired embossing or notching to the strip.
- the hollow cells 110 of the strip correspond to elements 144 projecting from the roller 140 which imprint on the strip the shape of the cell.
- the strip On its opposite face, the strip is applied against a flat area 145 of the opposite roller 141 which corresponds to the surface level of the opposite main face of the strip.
- the method of manufacturing the strip consists of embossing by stamping or notching the strip so as to form protruding bosses on one side corresponding to hollow cells on the other side. This shaping can be carried out cold or hot depending on the grade of steel used.
- the strip thus produced can be used, in particular for the construction of concrete pavements.
- the strip 70 is then embedded in the concrete 71 parallel to the longitudinal axis of the roadway in one or more plies parallel to the surface of the latter, as explained above.
- the rate of reinforcement as a percentage of cross section of the road is preferably 0.15 to 0.5%, this rate to be understood as the ratio between the steel section and the concrete section, in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the road.
- Roads or other concrete structures reinforced by such a strip have a much lower rate of reinforcement than that of structures reinforced with conventional reinforcement.
- Such a reinforcing element allows better mobilization of the tensile strength of the steel by significant increase in the adhesion of the steel to the concrete.
- This adhesion is, in fact, directly linked to the size of the steel-concrete contact surface. Compared to the steel section, this surface is much larger for a ribbon than for a round. The mechanical characteristics of steel, in particular at high elastic limit, are thus optimally valued.
