Abstract

Device for bathtubs. When using a bathtub, it is desirable that solid particles, hair and the like can be prevented from flowing with the waste water through the discharge port of the bathtub. This is achieved by using the tub filter in Figure 2. This tub filter made of plastic, stainless metal or a combination of these materials covers the discharge port (8) of the tub, and sits tightly against the edge (1) of the orifice, at the same time as the stopper (7) of the bathtub is blocked in the open position due to a compressive force exerted on the line (6) by a pressure device (11) in the orifice (5) of the cylinder. This compressive force is greater than the tensile force exerted by the stopper (7) of the tub attached to the line (6). As a result, said bathtub stopper on the one hand locks in the open position and on the other hand weighs down on the bathtub filter, so that the sealing ring (10) rests against the edge (1). from the discharge port.

Description

Bath-tub strainer
The present invention relates to a bath-tub strainer made of plastic, non-rusting metal or a combination of these materials. The bath-tub strainer serves to prevent solid particles, hair and similar substances from flowing together with the bath-tub's waste water down into the outlet, where there is some danger of it causing a blockage.
Background of the invention
When using a bath-tub it would be desirable to be able to prevent, by means of an arrangement, solid particles from flowing together with the waste water down into the outlet, where there is some danger of it causing a blockage. So far this has not been possible since the available bath-tubs do not possess any such arrangement.
Object of the invention and its most important characteristics The object of the invention is to produce an arrangement preventing solid particles from flowing down into the outlet together with the waste water from the bath-tub. The problem has been solved by means of a bath-tub strainer which, as a result of a simple shifting operation, covers the outlet of the bath-tub and seals against the outlet edge while at the same time locking the plug of the bath-tub in the open position and enabling the waste water to pass through the bath-tub strainer and flowing out into the outlet whereas solid particles are retained on the outside of the bath-tub strainer. Two standard features of the bath-tub are made use of as auxiliary devices, i.e. the plug of the bath-tub, which opens and closes the outlet of the bath-tub, and the line attached to the plug of the bath-tub, with the aid of which the latter is opened and closed. The bath-tub strainer is made of a fine-mesh net secured to a yoke, at the top of which there is a cylinder with an internal hole in the cylinder's longitudinal direction. In the hole a pressure arrangement has been provided in the shape of a spring, screw or equivalent device. At the underside of the yoke there is a sealing ring. The components of the bath-tub strainer are made of plastic or non-rusting metal.
The line is passed from the underside of the bath-tub strainer through the cylinder hole of the bath-tub strainer, as a result of which the pressure arrangement in the cylinder hole imparts a resistance to the bath-tub strainer when the latter is to be shifte along the line. The bath-tub strainer is shifted along the line downward towards the edge of the bath-tub outlet, at the same time as the line is kept stretched, and as a result the plug of the bath¬ tub is in the open position. The compressive force in the cylinder hole of the bath-tub plug is greater than the tensile force to which the line is subjected by the bath-tub plug, as a result of which the bath-tub plug is caused to stop in the open position when the line is released. The gravity of the bath-tub plug presses the bath-tub strainer down over the outlet of the bath-tub, and the sealing ring of the bath-tub strainer accordingly closes tightly against the edge of the outlet. When the bath-tub strainer is not in use, it is shifted to the other end of the line and acts as a weight to keep the line stretched over the edge of the bath-tub.
Description of drawing Figure 1 shows the bath-tub strainer seen from above.
Figure 2 shows the bath-tub strainer in section along the line A-A.
Figure 3 shows the bath-tub strainer as seen from the front. Figure shows a detailed section through the cylinder and pressure arrangement of the bath-tub strainer as well as a detailed section through the top of the yoke.
Figure 5 shows a detailed section through the bottom ring of the bath-tub strainer.
Description of embodiment The drawing shows a bath-tub strainer covering a bath-tub outlet (8). The bath-tub strainer consists of a yoke (2) to which are secured a fine-mesh net (3), a cylinder (4) with an internal hole (5) containing a pressure arrangement (11) in the shape of a spring, screw or equivalent device as well as a sealing ring ( 0). Patent Claims
1. The bath-tub strainer is an arrangement consisting of plastic, non-rusting metal or a combination of these materials. It covers the bath-tub outlet (θ) and seals under pressure against the outlet edge (V) while at the same time locking the bath-tub plug (7) in the open position and enabling the waste water to pass through the bath-tub strainer and flowing out into the outlet (θ) whereas solid particles are retained on the outside of the bath-tub strainer c h a r a c t e r i s e d i n t h a t the bath-tub strainer's cylinder (4) at the top of yoke (2) has an internal hole (5) provided with a pressure arrangement (11) in the form of a spring, screw or equivalent device, the co pressive force of which in respect of line (6) is greater than the tensile force exerted by the bath-tub plug (7) secured to line (β) , as a result of which the said plug can be locked in the open position, which is the position in which stop (9) of the bath-tub plug prevents the bath-tub plug (7) from being lifted further.
2. An- arrangement in accordance with patent claim 1 c h r a c t e r i s e d i n t h a t line (6) is locked firmly in the cylinder hole (5) by the pressure arrangement (11) so that the gravity exerted by the bath-tub plug (7) secured to line (6) in the open position produces a tensile force pressing sealing ring (10) of the bath-tub strainer against the outlet edge (1).

Claims

The pressure arrangement (11) presses against the line (6) secured to the bath-tub plug (7). As line (6) is locked by pressure arrangement (11) in cylinder hole (5), the compressive force being greater than the tensile force of bath-tub plug (7), the bath-tub plug (7) can be locked in the open position, which is the position in which stop (9) of the bath-tub plug in bath-tub outlet (θ.) prevents the bath-tub plug (7) from being lifted further. On the underside of yoke (2) is secured a sealing ring (10), which owing to the tensile force exerted by the locked bath-tub plug (7) in the open position is pressed down against the outlet edge (1).
