Description
The invention relates to a rapier projectile for weaving machines with a weft thread supply remaining outside the shed, with an elongated projectile housing which contains an installation space for a weft thread clamp which has a yoke connected to the front end of the projectile housing and two of these extending towards the rear end of the projectile housing. has movable clamp arms, the projectile housing being provided on its inner sides with recesses which locally expand the installation space.
In a known projectile of the type mentioned, the cutouts form a coherent interior in a length section which extends essentially over the middle third of the length of the projectile housing and has an essentially constant cross section over this length section, which is larger than the cross section of the weft thread clip (DE-OS -3,234,765). Correspondingly, the wall parts of the known projectile housing surrounding this interior are designed with wall thicknesses which ensure sufficient flexural rigidity of the projectile housing, in particular when the projectile is braked after the weft insertion, while at the same time aiming for the projectile to be as light as possible.
The invention has for its object to provide a weft insertion projectile of the type mentioned which has been further developed in this regard and which, with improved or at least constant dimensional stability of the projectile housing, permits a reduction in the weight and thus in the mass of the projectile to be accelerated and braked, without the outer Change the contour of the projectile and the corresponding braking surface.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that, at least in the region of the middle third of the longitudinal extent of the projectile housing, at least the cutouts provided on the inner sides running along the two clamp arms are formed by groove-like depressions arranged next to one another, which are separated from one another by web-like elevations projecting against the installation space, and that on each of these inner sides at least one of the elevations has a support surface which is intended to interact with at least one of the clamp arms.
The web-like elevations arranged according to the invention permit, at least in the central longitudinal section of the projectile housing, an embodiment with wall thicknesses of the projectile housing which are substantially reduced compared to previous versions and thus a corresponding reduction in the mass of the projectile to be accelerated and braked.
At the same time, the support of the housing wall, which in this case can be carried out relatively flexibly on the clamp arms, ensures the bending rigidity of the projectile in the longitudinal direction by the corresponding bending rigidity of the clamp arms. In this way, an undesired deformation of the projectile housing stiffened by the clamp arms is prevented, in particular when the projectile is braked after each weft insertion. The reduction in the mass of the projectile which can be achieved by the design according to the invention permits a reduction in the required braking power in the catching mechanism of the weaving machine and thus leads to a correspondingly reduced wear of the brake linings. As a result, the service life of the brake linings in the catching gear can be significantly increased compared to previous designs, in particular in the case of weaving machines with high weft insertion rates, in which the projectiles enter the catching gear with a correspondingly high loading rate and correspondingly high entry speed. Particular embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.
According to one embodiment of the invention, which enables a particularly efficient production of the projectile housing, the elevations can each be formed by a longitudinal rib running in the longitudinal direction of the projectile housing over the installation space. This version allows z. B. the use of sections of relatively inexpensive, such as by drawing presses, hollow profile rods that can be produced for producing the correspondingly profiled parts of the projectile housing.
In the case of a projectile with a projectile housing composed of two housing parts, the housing parts being able to be placed against one another with separating surfaces running parallel to the longitudinal extent of the projectile housing, the housing parts can be connected to one another in the region of the separating surfaces by a non-releasable connection. By this embodiment, which the advantages of a z. B. by precision casting or drop forging particularly inexpensive separate manufacture of the two housing parts and one, z. B. combined by welding or soldering particularly easy to produce connection of the two housing parts, a significant reduction in the manufacturing costs of the projectile can be achieved.

The
The
In a
―It goes without saying that instead of the illustrated
As can be seen from FIG. 5, instead of the
The gripper projectile according to FIGS. 7 and 8 has a
