Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung von Gießformen durch Verdichten von schüttfähigem Formstoff über einem auf einer Modellplatte innerhalb eines Formraums angeord­ neten Modell wird zunächst der Formraum bis zu einer Teilhöhe im Bereich der Oberkante des Modells in Wenig­ stens einer Stufe gefüllt und der Formstoff nach jeder Füllstufe unter Einwirken von Druckgas hoher Geschwindig­ keit verdichtet, danach in einer Endstufe weiterer Formstoff bis zu einer für die endgül tige Form notwendigen Füllhöhe aufgegeben und wiederum durch Druckgas oder durch Pressen verdichtet. Durch die Auftrennung des gesamten Verdichtungsvorgangs in wenigstens zwei Stufen mit einer Verdichtung jeweils bis zur Enddicte wird eine einwandfreie und gleichmäßige Verdichtung auch bei komplizierten Mod­ ellen und hoher Modellplattenbelegung erzielt.
