Abstract

1. Mechanical fuel injection for an internal combustion engine having a fuel pump, a fuel accumulator, a mixture regulator (22) with fuel distributor (40) which opens a fuel supply to injection valves (17, 32, 44) by means of a displacement, controlled by the airflow sensor (24), through built-in metering slits, a cylinder injection valve (17) being associated with each cylinder of the internal combustion engine, having a central injection valve (32) for the cold-start enrichment and an airflow sensor (24) associated with the mixture regulator, said airflow sensor controlling the fuel distributor (40), characterized in that a further fuel central injection valve (44) is provided in a suction tube section (14) common to all cylinders, of the internal combustion engine, said suction tube section being supplied in the idling mode with a predeterminable amount of fuel, and in that the metering slits for the cylinder injection-valves (17) are completely closed in the idling mode and an additional metering slit for the central injection valve (44) is provided, said metering slit opening at least in the idling mode.
