Die dazu erforderlichen Meß- und Markierungsarbeiten sind allerdings recht umständlich und zeitraubend und verlangen darüber hinaus eine gewisse Sorgfalt, so daß es wegen der vielen die Platten verlegenden ungelernten Arbeitskräfte oft zu großen Verzögerungen im Arbeitsablauf und durch Irrtümer bei den Vorbereitungsarbeiten zu einem unnötigen Plattenmehrverbrauch kommt. Die Erfindung löst diese Aufgabe dadurch, daß die Markierung Längenmaß-Einteilungen bildet, die entlang randparalleler, in regelmäßigen Abständen voneinander verlaufender Linien und in durch Lichteinwirkung verblassenden Farben, beispielsweise wasserlösliche Signierfarben heller Tönung, aufgetragen sind, wobei vorzugsweise über die Plattenbreite verlaufende Querlinien durch drei über die Plattenlänge verlaufende Längslinien, eine Mittellinie und zwei Seitenlinien, zu einem Großraster ergänzt sein können. Diese Markierung ergibt über die Plattenoberfläche verteilte Längenmeßskalen, so daß die Platten praktisch ohne zusätzliche Maßbänder, Maßstäbe od.dgl zugeschnitten und an den gewünschten Punkten befestigt werden können. Das Zuschneiden und das Auffinden der Befestigungspunkte sind auch ohne große Aufmerksamkeit geschickt und schnell möglich und die Markierungen lassen sich gleichermaßen hilfreich für ein normgerechtes wie für ein freies Verlegen der Platten heranziehen. Die Längenmaß-Einteilungen können sich auf zueinander parallele Querlinien beschränken, sie können aber in besonders zweckmäßiger Weise auch ein Großraster aus Quer- und Längseinteilungen bilden. Um die Übersicht nicht zu beeinträchtigen, genügen hier etwa alle Meter eine Quereinteilung und drei Längseinteilungen, wobei durch Normen festgesetzte Punkte in den Einteilungen hervorgehoben werden können.
