Abstract

A package for lady's stockings or pantyhose, including a rigid support (1) around which a pair of stockings or panthyhose (3) is wrapped, on the wrapping thus formed there being fitted a ring portion (6) comprised of the same material of the stockings or pantyhose, identical as far as both fabric and colour are concerned, and protruding from the support (1). The assembly is enclosed in a bag (9) provided with an opening (10) that leaves uncovered an extended part (7) of the ring portion (6), and the support (1) has a holder (16) to hang stockings or pantyhose thereon once the bag (9) has been removed from the support.

Description

This invention relates to a package particularly suitable to hold lady's stockings or pantyhose, in a way that enables the quality, i.e. the fabric type, and the colour of the stockings to be evaluated, before the purchase is made, and at the same time said package is provided with a support adapted to hold the stockings hanging therefrom, to be stored in a tidy fashion at home, after the purchase. Therefore, said package provides the double advantage of being enclosed in a bag whose shape is such as to enable the quality of stocking to be evaluated, and being adapted at the same time, once it has been removed from the bag, to be used at home as a means for hanging the various stockings on said support.
A package is known from the previous art that enables only the quality of the stocking to be evaluated, in that said stocking is enclosed in a bag comprised of the same fabric of the stocking, protruding out of the package, no possibility being provided of using the same package for hanging the stocking thereon.
The package of this invention will be discussed in more detail in the following, as a non-limiting example of the scope of this invention, and it is shown in the attached drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is an exploded view of the various component parts of the package;
Figure 2 is a plan view of the package in the closed condition thereof;
Figure 3 shows the package in plan view, without the bag, with the stockings hanging therefrom; and,
Figure 4 shows a cross-section of Fig. 3, along line IV-IV, on an enlarged scale.

Rigid support 1, made for example of plastic material, is comprised of an A-shaped plate, and a pair of stockings or pantyhose 3 is wrapped around the side arms 2 thereof. Said support 1 is provided, at the upper part thereof, with an extension ₄ having an eyelet opening 5, and at the lower part thereof, it is provided with an open portion 4'. On the stockings wrapper aroud support 1 as shown, a ring portion 6 is fitted, of the same material of the previously wrapped stockings, identical thereto as far as both fabric and colour are concerned, protruding relative to said support 1 according to the extended part 7. At the position of said extended part 7, support 1 is externally provided, on the lower stretch of said side arms 2, with a serrated or knurled area 8, adapted to hold in a fixed position said extended part 7, i.e. to prevent it from sliding down.
The above assembly, including support ₁ with stockings 3 wrapped thereon, and a ring part 6 fitted on the stockings, is enclosed in a bag 9, provided with an opening 10, with seated extensions 11 Q4r< on the side of said opening, and with a flap ₁2 on the side 13 of bag 9 opposite to opening 10. Package 14 is thereby completed and the component parts thereof are proportioned in such a way that when ring part 6 is fitted through the upper part of support 1, extension 4 is left free, and the lower open region 4' is in registry with opening 10 of bag 9, as it can be seen from Fig. 2 when said bag 9 encloses support 1, whose lower ends 2', provided with the knurled area 8, lean on sealed parts 11 located on the sides of opening 10 of bag 9.
To complete the subject package, flap 12 is passed through opening 5 and after having been properly folded it is fastened, for instance by gluing, to the opposite side 13' of bag 9, so that said eyelet opening 5 can be hanged on holder 15 having for instance the form of a stick.
The plurality of packages for stockings or pantyhose of various colours and sizes are hanged on said holder and said packages are thereby displayed in a store with the extended part 7 of ring 6 showing out, so that the fabric type and the colour of the stockings held in the package bag can be felt and appreciated before the purchase is made.
Once the bag 9 has been removed, ring 6 withdrawn, and the pair of stockings or panthyhose 3 has been unwrapped from support 1 for usage, said support is used to hold one or more pairs of stockings to be hanged on the brace or cross-member 16 provided on support 1, as can be seen on Figure 3.
Advantageously support ₁, without bag 9, can be hanged on holder 17 comprising a stick properly fastened at home, for instance a doset.
The two side arms 2 of support 1 have contoured peripheral portions 18 thereof, as it is clearly seen on Fig. 4, so that any thread pulling of stitches of the stockings wrapped around said support can be prevented.
This invention has been described above according to an exemplary embodiment thereof, to which modifications and additions can be made without exceeding the scope of this invention, whose characterizing features are stated in the following claims.

Claims

1. A package for lady's stockings or pantyhose, characterized in that it includes a rigid support (1) around which a pair of stockings or pantyhose (3) is wrapped, on the wrapping thus formed there being fitted a ring portion (6) comprised of the same material of the stockings or pantyhose, identical as far as both fabric and colour are con- cemed, and protruding from said support, the assembly being enclosed in a bag (9) provided with an opening (10) that leaves uncovered an extended part (7) of said ring portion (6), and in the said support (1) has a holder (₁6) to hang stockings or pantyhose thereon once the bag (9) has been removed from the support.

The package according to claim 1, characterized in that said support (1) is provided, in the upper part thereof, with an extension (4) having an eyelet opening (5) through which a flap (12) of said bag (9) is passed, to be fastened on a side (13') of bag (9) on the opposite side of said opening (10).

3. The package of claim 2, characterized by said eyelet. opening (5) being adapted for hanging support (1) either associated with bag (9) or without it.

4. The package according to claim 1, characterized in that said supprt (1) is provided with a serrated or knurled area (8) at said extended part (7), to keep said extended part (7) in position, when said ring portion (6) is fitted on support (1).

The package of claim 2, characterized in that said support (1) is comprised of a rigid A-shaped plate including the following parts: two side arms (2) around which the stockings or pantyhose (3) are wrapped, a lower open portion (4') corresponding to opening (10) of bag (9) when the latter encloses support (1), whose lower ends (2') lean on sealed portions (11) of bag (9), lying at the sides of opening (10), and a horizontal cross-member (16) overlying said lower open portion (4') and acting as a holder to hang stockings or pantyhose (3) thereon.

6. The package of claims ₅, characterized in that the peripheral parts of said side arms (2) are contoured.
