Description

The invention is directed to a gas spring arrangement according to the preamble of claim 1.

Gas spring arrangements of this type are used in particular to dampen the pivoting movement of the backrest support part or the backrest and, if necessary, coordinate the seat with office chairs. In order to give the user of such office chairs the possibility of either permanently setting the backrest or seat inclination in a desired position or of keeping the backrest or the seat pivotable so that they can follow the body movements, it is known to prevent the pivoting movement, provide detachable locking devices. Locking devices of this type can act directly on the gas spring either when using length-adjustable gas springs.

On the other hand, it is possible to provide a separate mechanical locking device in addition to the gas spring. Such a gas spring arrangement, as was assumed in the preamble of claim 1, is known from DE-A-26 30 820. Here, articulated brackets are arranged between the two components which can be pivoted relative to one another about a pivot axis, namely a seat support and a backrest support part, and can be clamped in their angular position relative to the seat support by means of clamping disks. The clamping disks are tightened or loosened with a stationary threaded spindle. The design effort for this arrangement is very large. In addition, no secure clamping is guaranteed. On the other hand, this arrangement has the advantage that inexpensive simple gas springs can be used.

The gas spring arrangements described above are intended to meet two competing requirements. On the one hand, the locking device should enable an absolutely secure fixation, for example, in spite of the relatively high torques that occur. B. the seat or the backrest in a certain inclination position; on the other hand, it should be possible to actuate the locking device with little effort, so that problem-free handling is possible. In addition, care must be taken to ensure that the pivoting movement in the triggered state is not hindered by the locking device and is only damped by the gas spring which takes effect.

Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is to design a gas spring arrangement of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that reliable detachment is made possible with easy detachability, the aim being a construction which is as simple as possible and thus equally reliable and inexpensive to implement.

This object is achieved according to the characterizing part of claim 1. The parallel arrangement of intermeshing sleeve piston parts to the gas spring ensures that when the sleeve part is braced against the piston part by tightening the threaded bolt, a flat pressure is generated between them, which creates a high locking force, which remains constant even with frequent actuation, wherein, in addition, no additional fastening devices have to be provided for the locking device, but rather the cross struts which are required anyway for fixing the gas spring can be used.

A particularly good surface pressure is achieved in an embodiment according to claim 2.

The constructive measures provided in accordance with claim 3 ensure that the piston part and sleeve part can be braced relative to one another without any problems, and that the free pivoting movement is not impeded by clamping in the released state of the locking device.

The embodiment according to claim 4 ensures that a stop, in particular when handling the actuating handle, fixes the sleeve and piston part despite the provided axial play.

The measure according to claim 5 ensures in a simple manner that while maintaining the desired axial play an uncontrolled axial movement, which would also lead to an undefined position of the actuating handle, is avoided.

The embodiment according to claim 6 makes it possible to use a spring which is of particularly simple design and is therefore inexpensive to manufacture.

The measure according to claim 7 enables the spring to be assembled very easily.

Further features, advantages and details of the invention result from the following description of a preferred embodiment with reference to the drawing. Show
  • 1 is a schematic side view of an office chair,
  • Fig. 2 is a side view of the articulation area of the seat support on the base frame and
  • 3 shows a section along the line AA ′ in FIG. 2.

An office chair shown in FIG. 1 comprises a base frame 1 with a support column 2 which is connected to a seat support 4 receiving the upholstered seat 3. In Fig. Only the lining 5 of the seat support 4 is shown.

A backrest support part 7, to which the backrest support column 9 carrying the backrest 8 is fastened, is connected to the seat support 4 so as to be pivotable about a pivot axis 6.

As is not shown in detail, the seat 3 is articulated on the one hand to the seat support 4 at its front end and on the other hand to the backrest support part 7. The articulated Connection between the seat support 4 and the backrest support part 7 is established by a pivot pin 10 which passes through the side walls 11, 12 and 13, 14 of the backrest support part 7 and the seat support 4, respectively. The backrest support part 7 and the seat support 4 are each U-shaped in cross-section, the U-bottoms 15, 16 pointing towards the top, that is to say towards the seat. At the rear end of the backrest support part 7, a releasable fastening device 17 for the backrest support column is arranged.

A gas spring 19 is provided to dampen the pivoting movement of the backrest support part 7 about the axis 6. The end 20 of the gas spring 19 on the housing side is pivotally attached to a bolt 23 by means of an annular sleeve 22 fastened to the housing 21 of the gas spring 19, which bolt passes through the side walls 11, 12 of the backrest support part 7 and is fixed by means of the heads 24.

The piston 25 is connected to an annular sleeve 26 which performs a distance function and which is pivotably arranged on a bolt 27 which acts as a cross strut and passes through the side walls 13, 14 of the seat support 4 and is fixed there. The bolt 23 is arranged in the region of the upper edge 28 of the backrest support part 7, while the bolt 27 is arranged in the region of the lower edge of the seat support 4 below the pivot bolt 10, the bolts 23, 27 being relative to one another such that the gas spring 19 is approximately an angle from 30 to 45 ° with the plane of the seat 3. This makes it possible to cushion the movement of the backrest 8 relative to the seat support 4 without the need to use additional counter-springs which bring about the back movement of the backrest.

The locking device 29 is arranged approximately parallel to the gas spring 19. This comprises a piston part 30 and a sleeve part 31 shown partially broken open in FIG. 3. The piston part 30 and the sleeve part 31 are rectangular in cross-section, the piston part 30 engaging in the sleeve part 31 so as to be longitudinally displaceable. The piston part 30 has a bore 32 which is penetrated by the bolt 27. A spacer sleeve 33 holds the piston part 30 at a preselected minimum distance from the annular sleeve 26 and thus from the gas spring 19.

The sleeve part 31 also has a bore 33 'through which the bolt 23 passes. A U-shaped spring clip 35 with one leg 36 bears against the inside 34 of the sleeve part 31, the other leg 37 being supported on the inside of the side wall 13.

The outside 38 of the sleeve part 31 has a bore 39. In the area of this bore 39, a threaded attachment 40 is welded, which is surrounded by a plastic spacer 41. A threaded bolt 42 is screwed into the threaded attachment 40, and an actuating handle 43 is attached to the rear end thereof. The threaded bolt 42 passes through a bore 44 in the side wall 12 and an approximately circular segment-shaped recess 45 in the side wall 14 which allows an unimpeded pivoting movement.

The gas spring arrangement according to the invention works so that when the threaded bolt 42 is loosened, a free pivoting movement between the backrest support part 7 and the seat support 4 is possible, which is damped by the gas spring 19 so that no additional counter-spring is required to retrieve the backrest 8. By turning the actuating handle 43, the threaded bolt 42 is screwed into the threaded attachment 40, the front end 46 of the threaded bolt 42 presses against the piston part 30 and this against the inner wall of the sleeve part 31 and presses the piston part 30 there in such a way that despite one only low torque required to actuate the handle 43 an absolutely reliable locking of the backrest adjustment is achieved.
