Abstract

A multi-row electrical connector strip of a plug-in electrical assembly is provided with retaining chambers (2) for the contact elements (3). The terminal elements (5) of the contact elements (3) project out of the retaining chambers (2) and, with their free ends, are bent perpendicular to a printed circuit board (6) of the electrical assembly and are connected thereto. The rows of terminal elements furthest removed from the printed circuit board (6) are already angled obliquely to the printed circuit board (6) inside the retaining chambers (2). In this way, the distance between the terminal elements (5) and adjacent assemblies is increased in the region of the outlet openings of the chambers (2), as is the corresponding leakage path. In addition, the length of the terminal elements (5) is reduced. <IMAGE>

Description

Elektrische SteckverbinderleisteElectrical connector strip

The invention relates to an electrical connector strip which is provided with a plurality of rows of contact elements which are connected by means of connecting elements to a printed circuit board of an electrical assembly, the portions of the connecting elements of the connecting elements of the rows most distant from the printed circuit board projecting from receiving chambers obliquely towards the printed circuit board are turned.

Until now, it was customary to bend the connecting elements of the connector strip only outside the receiving chambers for the contact elements perpendicularly or obliquely to the printed circuit board. Connector strips with connecting elements bent vertically outside the receiving chambers are e.g. known from US-A-3 413 594 and GB-A-2 024 539, respectively.

The invention has for its object to improve the electrical conditions in the connector.

This object is achieved by the connector strip described in the claim. The deflection within the chamber, in particular in the case of the outer connection elements, increases the creepage distances and the distance of the connection element from neighboring assemblies. This improves the electrical conditions of the connector. In addition, the length of the connecting elements is reduced, which not only saves material, but also improves the electrical conditions. The fixing point is given by the widening of the connection element. This widening causes a firm hold in the receiving chamber, so that the connection elements can be bent after the contact elements have been inserted into the receiving chambers. This does not require a cross-section-reducing predetermined bending point. Due to the recess already provided in the injection molded body, the contact elements can be inserted particularly easily into the chambers.

Fig. 1
Fig. 2
The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1
shows a cross section through a connector strip with an electrical circuit board,
Fig. 2
a partial section through the connector strip along the line II-II in Fig. 1st

According to FIG. 1, a multi-row connector strip consists of a housing 1 with chambers 2, into which contact elements 3 are inserted. The contact elements 3 are formed in one piece from contact springs 4 and connection elements 5. The connecting elements 5 are inserted at their free ends into holes in a printed circuit board 6 which is firmly connected to the housing 1. The circuit board extends in the direction of insertion of the connector strip. The free ends of the connection elements 5 are consequently outside the housing 1 perpendicular to it. The two most distant connection elements 5 from the printed circuit board 6 are angled obliquely towards the printed circuit board 6. The beveling already begins within the receiving chambers 2 for the contact elements 3. The connecting elements 5 have a collar-like widening 7 at the bending point, which widen into lateral groove-shaped depressions 8 in the inner walls of the receiving chambers 2.

Fig. 2 shows the shape of the collar-shaped widening 7 of the connecting elements 5 made of flat material, as well as the shape of the groove-shaped recesses 8. The bending edge is located directly next to the collar-shaped widening 7. This lies so deep within the receiving chamber 2 that the connecting element 5 on the Outlet opening already has a considerable lateral distance from the side wall of the housing 1. This increases the creepage distances and the other electrical conditions of the connector strip. In addition, the length of the connecting element 5 is reduced, which enables a smaller punching strip width.
