- the ring parts 2, 3 have flat end faces 4, 5 at their free ends, which lie flush against one another in the closed position of the ring parts 2, 3.
- the ring part 2 has at its end a bore 6, at least in its main part, which is countersunk vertically into the end face 4, and the ring part 3 is provided at its end with a pin 7, which at least in its main part is cylindrical and projects vertically from the end face 5.
- the pin 7 is provided at its front end with an all-round chamfer 8 of approximately 45 to 60 °.
- the cylindrical bore 6 opens into the end face 4 surrounding it with an all-round chamfer 9 of approximately 45 °.
- This chamfer 9 in turn favors the penetration of the pin 7 in the bore 6 during shooting movements of the ring parts 2, 3, however, has in particular the task of interacting with a circumferential, conical extension 10 with which the pin 7 merges into the end face 5 of its ring part 3.
- the cone angle of the extension is also approximately 45 °, so that chamfer 9 and extension 10 are in positive engagement in the closed position. This avoids displacement possibilities across the plane of the rings formed by the ring parts 2, 3, which could occur due to the clearance.

Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a ring binder mechanism in an embodiment according to the preamble of claim 1.
In known ring binder mechanisms of this type (DE-A-31 33 845), the free ends of the ring parts engage with one another without a gap, so that the ends of the ring parts pressed against one another by the spring tension of the mechanical cover are adjusted in one plane. Although such an embodiment allows economical production, it has the disadvantage that the ends of the ring parts can be offset transversely to the adjustment plane. In ring binder mechanisms with a relatively large capacity for perforated documents, in which the ring parts have a correspondingly large dimension, the spring preload of the mechanical cover is often not sufficient to reliably press the two ring parts against one another and to secure them against disengagement from the mutual toothing.
There are also ring binder mechanisms of the type mentioned with ring parts made of metal wire with a round cross-section (GB-A-190 860), in which one ring part of each pair of ring parts is conically sharpened at its end and the end of the other ring part is provided with a conical depression. The form-fitting engagement of such ring part ends ensures mutual adjustment of the ring part ends in all directions, but the contact pressure exerted by the mechanical cover on the ring part ends is not sufficient to reliably prevent the mutual engagement from being released at pressures transverse to the plane of the ring parts.
This also applies to ring mechanisms in which ring parts with a non-circular cross-section are injection molded from plastic and provided with a conical shoulder or a conical bore at the end (CH-A-433 187). Apart from this, plastic ring parts have only a low intrinsic rigidity, which promotes displacement of the ends of the ring parts.
In a lifting ball mechanism (DE-A-563 549), the stirrups for opening a pivoting movement prior to pivoting have an end pin which engages in a bore in the upper end of alignment pins in the closed position of the parts and ensures that the ends of the stirrups and of the alignment pins assigned to them cannot significantly shift against each other. Here, however, a lever mechanism for opening and closing the bracket ensures that the ends of the parts can move away from each other, as can be the case due to the spring action of the mechanical cover in ring binder mechanisms of the generic type.
The invention has for its object to provide a ring binder mechanism of the type mentioned in the preamble of claim 1, in which the ring parts are reliably adjusted on all sides in their closed position even under high loads from documents and are secured against dissolution of the ring closure by displacement of the ring part ends.
This object is achieved by the invention in a ring binder mechanism according to the preamble of claim 1 with the features of the characterizing part of claim 1. With regard to further refinements, reference is made to claims 2 and 3.
The ring mechanism according to the invention ensures, by simple means, an entry centering, a closed position centering and the exclusion of any significant transverse displacements of the ends from one another which could result in the ring parts being opened under heavy loads.

The ring binder mechanism consists in detail of a resilient mechanical cover 1, which is prepared in the area of its ends for riveting with a book-shaped cover. The mechanical cover 1 covers and encompasses two ring rail or snake parts which are connected in opposite directions and which are resiliently supported in the mechanical cover 1 and carry
There is a clearance between the cylindrical part of the
The
