Abstract

The cover arrangement for covering the balustrade sill or base of a transportion apparatus, such as an escalator of moving walkway equipped with a self-supporting vertically disposed balustrade carrier is elastically fixed to the bottom or sub-structure of the balustrade sill or base by means of pairwise arranged, self-adhesive interlocking strips or bands. For this type of fixing, neither screws or bolts nor welding work is required to be performed upon the cover arrangement, so that no screw or bolt heads are visible and there can be used for the covers or panels of the cover arrangement, without any additional expenditure, the most varied materials and surface properties. Each of the cover arrangements, which are divided into an inner cover or panel and an outer cover or panel, can have their individual covers or panels removed, for maintenance purposes or otherwise, independently of the other cover arrangements and their covers or panels without the use of special tools and can be just as easily re-mounted.

Description

The invention relates to a cover of the balustrade base of an escalator or moving walk, consisting of two mutually independent covers, one of which is a base-side cover and the other is an outer panel-side cover, which is arranged on one side of a vertical balustrade support and is made of bent sheets and / or drawn profiles are made.

In today's escalators or moving walks with self-supporting balustrades, preferably made of tempered glass, covers of the balustrade base on the base side and on the outer cladding side of the escalator are required. As part of maintenance work, occasional access to the base of the balustrade is required, for which parts of the cover must be removed. It is therefore important to pay special attention to the attachment of these cover parts.

To cover the balustrade base structure, already drawn profiles with snap devices have been proposed, which have no visible screws and can be removed and reassembled without special tools and with little effort. However, the devices for accommodating these profiles are very complex and the profiles have not given satisfactory results due to the inherent stress experienced by the previous deformation. The same has also happened with screwed cover profiles in which the visible screw heads have been covered by additional clamp profiles.

An escalator has become known from US Pat. No. 3,991,877, in which, among other things, the cover of the balustrade base also emerges. A glass balustrade is received in a longitudinal slot of a clamp holder that encompasses the lower end of the balustrade. In a number of screw clamps connected to the frame construction of the escalator, the clamp holder is clamped together with the base of the balustrade. At the upper free end of the clamp holder, horizontally arranged longitudinal slots for receiving the cover of the balustrade base are provided on both sides, against the base side and against the outer cladding side. On the side of the outer cladding, a rag of a drawn profile rests in a longitudinal slot, which at the same time the grips the upper edges of the outer cladding panels. This cover profile is clamped to the frame construction of the escalator with a dovetail-type fastening device that is only accessible from the inside. On the other side rests in the other longitudinal slot, the one longitudinal edge of an inserted, folded cover plate, which is screwed on the other longitudinal edge by a number of screws arranged in a bent longitudinal groove and screwed to the base attached to the frame structure.

A disadvantage of this cover is that the cover on the outer cladding side cannot be removed alone, but only in connection with the cover on the base, and that the cover on the base has visible screw heads despite the bevelled longitudinal groove. These screws arranged in the area of the step belt also represent a certain safety risk, despite the screw heads being drawn into the groove.

The invention has for its object to provide an inexpensive cover of the balustrade base of an escalator or moving walk, which has no visible fasteners, is elastically fixable and in which each side of the cover, regardless of the other, without special tools in the simplest Art is removable and can be reassembled.

This object is achieved by the invention characterized in the claims.

The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that folded sheets of any material or surface quality can be used for the cover without welding work, that no screw heads are visible and no additional profile for covering screw heads is required.

Another advantage lies in the fact that the paired holding elements arranged on the back of the cover and on the base allow the cover to be fixed in an elastic manner and permit a certain degree of inaccuracy in the fastening of these holding elements without the exact position of the cover to be fastened itself thereby being impaired would.

In Fig. 2, 1 is again the balustrade base of the escalator. The balustrade base 1 is closed off at the top by the base-side cover 2 and the outer panel side cover 3. The balustrade support 4 is arranged between the two covers 2, 3. The balustrade support rests in the clamping profile 7 on the round rubber cord and is held together with the clamping profile 7 by the clamping device 9. The clamping device 9 is also connected to the substructure of the balustrade base 1, not shown. The outer cladding-side cover 3 lies with the folded leg 3.1 snugly against a spacer plate 22 of the outer cladding 6 and also closes on the other side smallest play on the balustrade support 4. The spacer plate 22 is screwed to the outer cladding plate 6 with the welding bolts 14 arranged on the outer cladding plates 6 and the washers 16, the spring washers 17 and the nuts 15. The outer cladding plates 6 are fixed by the angled edge 22.1 of the spacer plate 22, which is clamped between the leg 3.1 and a support plate 21. Between the cover 3 and one leg of the clamping profile 7 or one leg of the support plate 21, a holding element 13 consisting of two mutually adhering, separable self-adhesive Velcro strips is arranged. The first Velcro strap 13.1 of the holding elements 13 is fastened to the leg of the clamping profile 7 and the support plate 21 and the second Velcro strap 13.2 is fastened to the inside of the cover 3. The base-side cover 2 lies snugly against the base plate 5 with the leg 2.1 and, on the other side, also connects to the balustrade support 4 with the slightest play. Between the cover 2 and a leg of the clamping profile 7 or a leg of a support profile 20, which can be adjusted by means of a welding bolt 14, a washer 16, a spring washer 17 and a nut 15 on the base plate 5, is again a self-adhesive Velcro tape consisting of two mutually adhering, separable self-adhesive Velcro tapes Holding elements 13 arranged. Each of the first Velcro strips 13.1 of the holding elements 13 is on the leg of the clamping profile 7 and the support profile 20 and each attached the second Velcro 13.2 on the inside of the cover 2.

The two independent covers 2, 3, according to FIG. 1, are in principle placed in the same way for fastening on the balustrade base. Each cover 2, 3 is placed on the one hand with the rear edge on the PVC end profile 12 clamped on the clamping profile 8 and on the other hand on the support profile 10 or on the support plate 11 and then moved against the balustrade support 4 without the two supports 12, 10 or 12, 11 lift off until the two Velcro strips 13.1, 13.2 of the holding element 13 hold together. So that the rear edge of the cover 2, 3 can be better inserted into the PVC end profile 12, a thin auxiliary film with a low coefficient of friction can be placed between the tabs of the end profile 12 and the edge of the cover 2, 3, or a locally swaged one Rags of the end profile can subsequently be guided around the edge of the cover 2, 3 with the aid of a screwdriver.

When attaching a second adjacent cover part, the front edges can slide smoothly against one another, so that a clean butt joint is created.

To remove a cover 2, 3 from the balustrade base 1, two screwdrivers between the legs 2.1, 3.1 of the cover 2, 3 and the base plate 5 or External cladding inserted and cover 2, 3 separated from the balustrade base by a lever effect.

The two covers according to FIG. 2 are attached in a similar way. The cover 2, 3 is held parallel to the supports and a few centimeters above them with the rear edge resting against the balustrade support 4 and then moved vertically downwards along the balustrade support. Shortly after the tab 2.1, 3.1 of the cover slides over the vertical part of the support profile 20 or over the vertical part of the spacer plate 22, the two Velcro strips 13.1, 13.2 of the holding elements 13 engage in one another and hold each other and the cover firmly. In this embodiment, no end profiles for the balustrade support are required, but clean butt joints are more difficult to reach and the dismantling work for the covers is more complex than with the variant according to FIG. 1.
