Definitions

  • the present invention relates to grinding machines for crankshafts of engines, both diesel and explosion.
  • Machine tools of this type are provided with a series of grinding wheels placed side by side which are arranged on a single grinding wheel shaft and which thus allow a single simultaneous diving the machining of the bench bearings as well as crankpins .
  • US-A-3,352,665 describes a grinding machine in which the support axis of the workpiece to be rectified is parallel to the grinding wheel axis and is positioned relative to the latter so that the plane passing through these two axes form a certain angle (a) between 10 and 60 ° with a horizontal plane (PP).
  • a the grinding wheel is supported by an adjustable shaft placed above the level of the crankshaft.
  • FR-A-1.464.245 describes a machine for grinding crankshaft pins in which the tools are assembled in an independent group which can be assembled and disassembled as a whole by means of the hooks of a sling suspended from an air transporter.
  • the main object of the present invention is that of making a multiple grinder for crankshafts having a higher precision obtained by simplifying the movements of the machine.
  • Another object is that of carrying out the operation of preparing the machine in an extremely simple manner, therefore feasible in reduced time, in minimal spaces and without lifting means, in such a way that the replacement of the grinding wheels does less to the rectification costs.
  • the machine shown in the figures is provided with a number of grinding wheels M1, M2, M3, M4, M5 which are as much as the bearings to be ground, so that the crankshaft is ground by a single operation.
  • Each grinding wheel is mounted and balanced separately with its flanges 4 before being introduced, by means of the carriage 7, onto the grinding wheel shaft 5 which is fixed to the table 6 and by means of its supports 1 and 2.
  • the machine is provided with two workpiece heads 13A and 14A which rotate the two points 13 and 14, which are synchronized by the shaft 15.
  • the dressing roller 16 forms with the above plane an angle ⁇ preferably equal to the previous angle a, but in opposite directions.
  • Each support is provided with special hydrostatic or hydrodynamic type bearings in which are housed and rotate the two ends of the grinding wheel shaft 5, which are covered by a removable cover 18.
  • each support comprises a group of hydraulic control with a circulation pump, filter and oil cooling.
  • Each support is therefore completely independent of the rest of the machine and can be moved and adjusted without any loss of oil, even when the cover 18 is removed, so as to release one end of the grinding wheel shaft 5.
  • the support 1 is always fixed on the table 6 of the grinding machine, while the support 2 can be moved in the direction of the arrow A by taking the position 2 'indicated in FIG. 3, so as to allow free passage to the grinding wheels M1, M2, M3, M4, M5 when these are removed from the grinding wheel shaft 5.
  • a carriage 7 is specially provided for transporting the disassembled grinding wheels to the preparation workshop for the grinding machine.
  • This carriage 7 is provided with an arm 23 on which the various grinding wheels from M1 to M5 slide during assembly and disassembly.
  • This arm is provided with a conical projection 21 which enters a cavity provided in the shaft 5, so as to be able to support it.
  • the carriage 19 is also provided with locking screws 25 actuated by the handwheel 19 which are intended to penetrate the table 6.
  • the disassembly of the series of wheels from M1 to M 5 for their replacement is carried out as follows: First of all, the cover 18 of the support 2 is dismantled, while the carriage 7 is approached so that the conical part 21 of the arm 23 enters the end of the grinding wheel shaft 5. By means of the handwheel 19 the carriage 7 is rigidly locked against the table 6 of the machine.
  • the support 2 is now moved away from its seat, which moves to the position 2 ′ (FIG. 3), thereby keeping the shaft 5 and the arm 23 supported by the hydraulic piston 27 placed on the carriage 7.
  • the movement of the molds M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, the displacement of the support 2, that of the hydraulic piston 27, as well as the carriage 7 are preferably motorized, so that the operations follow until all the grindstones have been dismantled.
  • the grinding wheels M 1, M2, M3, M4 and M5 are mounted on the shaft 5 in the reverse but identical manner.
  • the movement of the table 6 which carries the group of grinding wheels is carried out by a single stepping motor 10 by means of a reduction gear 11 and of the group 9 containing a high precision ball screw which allows an advance of 'half a micron each time the engine is started (see Fig. 1).
  • Fig. 1 the grinding wheels are at a certain distance either from the axis of the workpiece, or from the axis of the dressing wheel.
  • This distance is adjustable to allow easy assembly and disassembly of the crankshaft at a speed so as not to cause loss of time.
  • the finishing quotation of the different plans or supports is obtained by the self-calibrating fork controlled by an electronic measuring device.
  • the regeneration thickness of the grinding wheels is obtained by increasing the value of the grinding stroke by a few hundredths each time this operation is carried out, which can be carried out every 10 or 15 pieces.
  • the diamond roller withdraws under its protection which shelters it from the emery; it can be composed by different elements as much as the seats to be ground or by a single roller brought back on a carriage 20 which allows it to move along the entire length of the positions of different grinding wheels.
  • All the motors of the machine have adjustable speeds to obtain the desired results, while a computer controls the various movements of the machine and of the carriage 7 so as to obtain very high yields.
