Bei Hochdruckentladungslampen, z.B. bei Natrium- Quecksilber- oder Metallhalogenid-Hochdruckentladungslampen, besteht, insbesondere bei senkrechter Brennstellung mit nach oben weisendem Lampenfuß, das Problem der Überhitzung des Lampenfußes und eventuell in ihm enthaltener Teile.
