Definitions
- the invention relates to a method for producing sintered ceramic molded articles according to the preamble of claim 1, a special mold for carrying out this process and a special abrasive material molded article produced by the method according to the invention.
- Sintered ceramic moldings are usually produced by compression molding the raw material in question with a binder as a weakly water-containing, granular mixture, drying it after removal from the mold and then sintering, if necessary in two stages, with intermediate processing. This requires complex metal molds and there is also the risk that the compact will break out during demolding, which is why more complicated contours are only produced by the aforementioned post-sintering post-processing.
- the object of the invention is to remedy this, i.e. the production of a sintered ceramic shaped body, e.g. To enable abrasive material moldings with low manufacturing and above all molding costs, even if only small quantities are required.
- a metal mold according to the invention by a cheap casting mold, for example made of rubber, plastic, plaster or wax, which is made possible by a casting process instead of a compression molding process, allows the molding costs to be reduced enormously.
- the cost of the freeze dryer required is roughly offset by the elimination of a press.
- the shaped, frozen mixture can be easily removed from the mold while maintaining detailed contours and / or surface structures, as may be desirable for the finished molded body.
- toothed grinding wheels such as those that form the subject of DE-GM 1367 319, but also other sintered ceramic moldings and correspondingly more stable molds for other molding processes can easily be produced without reworking.
- Mold casting using an aqueous mixture followed by freeze-drying results in an extremely dense, firm bond which, for example, makes it very difficult to break out abrasive material grains. They therefore remain effective over their entire lifespan, which in turn benefits the durability of a shaped abrasive material produced according to the invention.
- Using a mold made of wax or the like it is not necessary to completely demold the frozen mixture before the sintering process, since the wax residues burn off essentially without residues during the sintering process. This is of particular interest where there is a need to work with cores in a more complicated shape.
- Claims 2 to 10 indicate advantageous design options for the method according to the invention.
- Claim 11 is directed to a special form suitable therefor and claim 12 to an extremely durable abrasive material molded body obtained with the method according to the invention.
- a mixture is produced from powdery ⁇ -aluminum oxide with additions of, among other things, zirconium silicate and dextrin, to which approximately three times the amount by weight of high-grade corundum with different grain sizes between 50 and 280 mesh is then added.
- This entire mixture is mixed with water, to which commercial dispersants and the like may have been added, to give a pourable slurry which is poured into a rubber negative mold of the finished article with an excess of about 3.6%.
- the poured-in mixture is deep-frozen in this form, after which it is removed from the mold.
- De-molding can be carried out in a simple manner by pushing out, if necessary with progressive detachment of the flexible mold from one place, or for example by pushing out with compressed air, for which purpose the mold only needs to have a channel opening into the mold cavity.
- the frozen mixture is subjected to a freeze-drying process, which results in a dry molding with a chalk-like consistency.
- This molding is fired at a temperature of about 1770 ° C (2043 ° K), which results in the finished abrasive material molded body.
- the otherwise fully preserved corundum grains occur in a melted, welded state, while the added dextrin has evaporated.
